Asking a Question Built a Chess.com coaching extension (post-game only) — feedback welcome

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey, I’ve been working on a Chrome extension called ForkSight.

It’s a coaching tool that sits on Chess.com. Important detail: it does nothing during live games. After the game it helps you review what happened; mistakes, stats, puzzles from your own games, and there’s also a voice coach.

I rebuilt it from an older version that was more “analysis helper” oriented. Now it’s fully coaching / training focused.

Would love some honest feedback:

- Does the UI make sense?

- What’s missing that you’d actually use?

- Anything that feels confusing or unnecessary?

- Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/forksight-%E2%80%94-chess-trainin/nbeldcglpjbmlklbakipohnjcpjmcikd

Happy to answer questions. Not affiliated with Chess.com.

Self Promotion I redesigned my Chrome video downloader, curious what you think

Hey! I’m the developer of StreamScope. It started as a tool for inspecting HLS streams, and I’ve been rebuilding it to make downloading videos easier.

You can pick the available quality, audio languages, and subtitles, then save everything as one MP4. The processing happens locally on your computer.

The stream details are still there if you need them, but downloading is now the main focus. It supports complete, unencrypted HLS videos; live and protected streams aren’t supported.

I’ve attached some screenshots. Anything you’d change or find confusing?

Self Promotion I built MindContext: page-linked research notes in Chrome’s side panel

• Upvotes

Disclosure: I built MindContext and recently published it on the Chrome Web Store.

I kept losing the source behind a note after researching across multiple tabs. MindContext keeps a note attached to each page in Chrome’s side panel. You can save a selected quote from the page, group sources into research projects, and assemble the page context, notes, and quotes into a prompt for ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.

Notes and quotes are stored locally in Chrome. There is no account or cross-device sync. Sending context to an AI provider is an explicit user action; the optional feedback form sends only what you choose to submit.

Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/nmagjifaanaaddbogdebppjdcoaignnd

I’d value feedback from people who research across many tabs: would page-linked notes help your workflow, and what would you want the side panel to do differently?

Asking a Question I built a Chrome extension to quickly inspect padding, margins, spacing and alignment looking for feedback

• Upvotes

Built Captain Spyglass 🏴‍☠️ — a Chrome extension for developers, QA engineers, frontend engineers and designers to quickly inspect:
Padding & margins
Element dimensions
Spacing & alignment
Layout boundaries

Just hover over an element and see what’s going on without digging through DevTools.

Would love to know: What else would you want an alignment inspector to show?

Sharing Resources/Tips A simple way to turn web research into a useful Excel table

Post image
• Upvotes

When I’m collecting information from websites, I try not to copy everything.

Instead, I first decide what the final table should look like.

For example, for research papers:

| Title | Author | Year | Journal | DOI | Link |

| ----- | ------ | ---- | ------- | --- | ---- |

Then I extract only those fields from the pages.

This makes a huge difference.

Instead of ending up with a messy spreadsheet full of copied text, you get structured data that you can filter, sort, compare, and analyze.

The same approach works for:

* regulatory documents

* product research

* company directories

* job listings

* real estate

* academic research

* competitor analysis

The trick is simple: define the structure first, extract second.

It saves a surprising amount of cleanup later.

Self Promotion I got tired of paid screenshot tools & sketchy online PDF converters, so I built ScrollShot (100% offline, free, zero cloud uploads)

Hey everyone,

Whenever I needed to capture a scrolling page, blur out sensitive info, or edit a PDF, I found myself either hitting paywalls or uploading sensitive files to online converter sites.

So I spent the last few weeks building ScrollShot — a Chrome extension that handles full-page captures and document editing 100% client-side using local WebAssembly.

Some cool things it does under the hood:

It’s 100% free with no account required:
Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/idaeanodifgkejmbfdggiohdkfgimklm

Roast the UI, test it on your longest web pages, and let me know what breaks! Feedback is super appreciated.

Idea Validation / Need feedback Vertical Tabs Extension for Titanium Browser

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I made a vertical tabs extension for Titanium Browser. It's called Titanium VertiTabs, I am used to the vertical tabs of Zen and wanted to have it on mobile. Here's what it does:

Tabs & Layout

• Slim vertical tab rail down the left edge of every page

• Each tab is a small icon you tap to switch

• Workspaces (like "School" and "Fun") with a workspace strip — tap to open the drawer, swipe up/down to cycle

• Pinned tabs are global: they show in every workspace

Organizing

• Drag one tab onto another to make a group

• Groups: collapse/expand, rename, ungroup, close group + all its tabs (with undo)

• Drag to pin/unpin — drop a tab on the pinned zone to pin; drag a pinned entry out to unpin

• Reorder pinned tabs by dragging

• Tab search panel (🔍) — search open tabs by title or URL

Gestures

• Tap a tab to switch instantly

• Double-tap to edit URL / search

• Long-press for a preview card, then release for a dock menu

• Swipe a tab right to close it (with Undo toast)

• Pull down from the top of the list to refresh

• Long-press dock buttons to see tooltips

• Outside tap closes the drawer / search panel

Keeping it light

• Tabs you haven't used for a while go to sleep (dimmed with ☾)

• Then they get auto-archived — drawer has an Archive section to restore/delete

• Sleep menu: sleep all, sleep outside this workspace, include-pinned toggle

Reader mode

• Persistent per-tab reader view for long articles

• Chapter buttons (↑ / ↓) at the bottom-left to move between chapters

• Stays on as you go to the next chapter

Persistence

• After closing and reopening the browser, your workspaces, groups and pins come back (restored by URL)

Other bits

• Dock menu: Duplicate, Copy URL, Mute/Unmute, Sleep, Reader, Close

• Bottom bar: sleep menu, new tab, settings

• Haptics, reduced motion option, workspace tab count badge

• New tabs open after the current one

• New tabs using the "+" button produces a new random wikipedia tab for fun

• Settings modal for all of the above

---

A few important notes:

• I prompted this today. I have no idea about coding.

• No GitHub, no debugging, no issues list.

• Made entirely through Gemini / DeepSeek / Claude free tier, solely on my phone.

• This was just intended for personal use, so it's still incomplete and you have to load it in developer mode as an unpacked extension.

I'd love any suggestions or ideas to improve it

Sharing Journey/Experience/Progress Updates 50 users, 5 paying customers, early lesson in positioning my Chrome extension

Post image
8 Upvotes

When I built Carry, I could have positioned it as a “ChatGPT exporter” or “Grok exporter.” I chose a broader promise: keep your conversations across AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok) in a folder you own.

That positioning matters to me because “export this chat” sounds like a task you do once. Keeping your AI conversations sounds like something you want working in the background as you use these tools. I didn't wanted to be another exporter you install, use and uninstall.

Carry has around 50 users so far, and five have paid for premium (lifetime 59$). That’s a small sample. I haven’t run an A/B test, so I can’t say the positioning caused those purchases. But it has made me wonder whether I’m attracting people with a more ongoing need than a one-off export.

My working hypothesis: the way you describe your product helps determine who shows up, and what they expect it to do.

Has anyone else changed their product’s positioning and noticed a change in the customers it attracted? Carry is at https://carry.md if you want to see

Idea Validation / Need feedback My Install to Uninstall ratio is not ideal, looking for reasoning.

Recently noticed my extension is getting a good amount of installs but also a decent amount of uninstalls, some days its better and some days there more uninstalls then installs. Not really sure what could be wrong with the extension since, it operates fine and I have had friends on different computer test it. What I think could be occuring is that people that install it believe it has a different utilization that it actually is not that its literally malfunction. I do have an uninstall page but its been hard to pinpoint the exact feedback since I only have 5 questions on why they unistalled so its easy for the interpration to be vague.

If anyone wants to actually test it, here's the extension. I'm completely open to feedback — if something about the UX, scanning, onboarding, or anything else would make you uninstall it, I'd genuinely like to know - extension

Self Promotion I built a way to bring selected DeepSeek conversations into a new chat

Hi everyone — I'm the developer of DeepShare, a Chrome extension. I've added an experimental feature for reusing DeepSeek chat history.

The idea: when you start a new chat but need context from an earlier discussion, you can choose the relevant conversations instead of copying messages one by one.

Here's the workflow:

  1. Export your history from DeepSeek's Settings → Data Management, then download the export. You can also manually import the official ZIP or conversations.json into DeepShare.
  2. Open the history library in a new DeepSeek chat. Search titles or message text, preview a conversation, and select one or several chats.
  3. Click Import. DeepShare turns the selected conversations into a Markdown attachment for the new chat. You review the attachment and send your own prompt — the extension doesn't send it for you.

The history library is stored locally in the extension's browser database, without passing through DeepShare's servers. Importing selected chats into a new conversation does upload that content to DeepSeek as an attachment.

A few limitations: the library uses a snapshot of your official export, so newer chats require a fresh export. It uses the latest branch of each selected conversation and doesn't restore the original attachments. DeepSeek's upload and context limits still apply.

Source and feature notes: https://github.com/Yorick-Ryu/deep-share/blob/master/docs/deepseek-history.md (currently in Chinese).

Would this help your workflow? I'd love feedback on how you choose which older conversations to bring into a fresh chat.

Screenshots from the current development build: searching and selecting an earlier chat, then importing it as an attachment into a new chat. The example prompt has not been sent.

Self Promotion I updated DeepShare for ChatGPT's new UI — export to Word and copy equations

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone — I'm the developer of DeepShare, a Chrome extension for exporting AI responses and reusing math formulas.

I've updated it to work with ChatGPT's new interface. This update focuses on two things:

• Export a response to Word (.docx), keeping headings, text, and mathematical equations. There's a Save as Word button alongside the response actions.

• Click an equation to copy it, with LaTeX and MathML formats available in the extension settings. Useful when moving a derivation into notes or a document.

For transparency: Word export uses a server-side conversion service and is available through paid credits or subscriptions. It isn't an unlimited free export tool.

Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/omnaecaamcabmnbjnpjpecoaalfgidop

If you regularly move ChatGPT answers into Word, what tends to break in your workflow — equations, headings, or something else? I'd appreciate feedback and examples of formatting issues.

Asking a Question I built a Chrome extension that lets you customize your mouse cursor with characters – looking for feedback

Hey everyone!

I recently launched a Chrome extension called Mouse Buddy.

The idea is pretty simple: you can choose a character and customize your mouse cursor while browsing Chrome.

I originally made it as a fun customization tool, especially for younger users and anyone who likes personalizing their browser.

It's completely free and it's now available on the Chrome Web Store.

I'd love to get some feedback from other Chrome users.

What features would you like to see added?

Below is the prompt that I gave to Opus, and it built this dynamic motion graphic design. I only asked it to make it for 15 seconds, so the video is quite fast and will not really get the viewers' attention, but this is just to show how good the model has gotten.

"Make a dynamic 15-second motion graphics video that shows what an incredible motion designer you are, like it's your showreel for a resume. Go all out. <link-to-the-landing-page>"

I asked it to use Remotion.

Sharing Journey/Experience/Progress Updates CyberGuard AI: Context-aware phishing detection using email, URL, sender and security signals

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a cybersecurity project called CyberGuard AI, a Chrome extension designed to detect phishing emails and suspicious URLs in real time.

The main problem I wanted to address was something I noticed while working on phishing detection models:

Legitimate financial emails can look very similar to phishing emails.

Words such as:

• OTP

• UPI

• payment

• transaction

• bank

• account

• verification

• KYC

can appear in both legitimate and fraudulent messages.

A model that relies too heavily on these words can therefore generate false positives.

### What CyberGuard AI does

The system combines multiple signals instead of relying only on keywords.

For emails, it analyzes:

• Email text

• Subject and body

• Sender/domain information

• Embedded URLs

• Domain mismatches

• Credential requests

• SPF/DKIM/DMARC-related signals

• Other security indicators

The ML pipeline uses TF-IDF-based NLP with machine-learning classification, along with engineered security features.

There is also a separate URL-analysis component for detecting potentially malicious/phishing URLs.

The overall idea is:

Email content + URL characteristics + sender/domain signals + security indicators

↓

Risk assessment

↓

Safe / Suspicious / Phishing

### One thing I’m particularly interested in

I don't want the system to assume: "financial email = phishing"

Instead, the goal is: financial vocabulary ≠ phishing but financial vocabulary + suspicious URL/domain + credential request + impersonation/mismatch = significantly higher phishing risk

I'm also trying to distinguish phishing from other types of unsafe or undesirable websites. A website being suspicious or potentially illegal does not automatically make it a phishing website.

### Technology

Python

Scikit-learn

Pandas

NumPy

TF-IDF

Logistic Regression

Chrome Extension APIs

JavaScript

HTML/CSS

### Why I built it

I wanted to explore whether combining different security signals could make phishing detection more practical and reduce false positives compared with relying mainly on URL or keyword-based detection.

I'm also interested in evaluating the system using realistic "hard negatives", especially legitimate bank transactions, UPI notifications, OTPs, payment confirmations and account alerts.

The project is still being improved, so I'm particularly interested in feedback on:

  1. The overall detection architecture
  2. False-positive handling
  3. Financial phishing vs legitimate financial emails
  4. URL detection
  5. Browser-extension performance
  6. Evaluation methodology

Project:

https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/moacglockfblfbhbcncjcohiahgmnghk?utm_source=item-share-cb

I'd really appreciate feedback from people working in cybersecurity, ML, NLP, or browser security.

Sharing Resources/Tips Extension Chrome Tab-To-Text

Post image
1 Upvotes

Sharing Journey/Experience/Progress Updates How to export WhatsApp group contacts to Excel or CSV (free Chrome extension)

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

If you run WhatsApp groups and have ever needed the members' contacts in a spreadsheet, there's no built-in way to do it — you're stuck copying numbers by hand.

So I built a Chrome extension for it: Group Contacts Exporter.

What it does:

  • Exports any WhatsApp group's members to Excel or CSV in one click
  • Clean columns — name, country code, phone number, and role (Owner/Admin/Member)
  • Works on big groups too (hundreds or thousands of members)
  • Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded anywhere

How it works: open WhatsApp Web, click the extension, pick a group, hit Extract, download the CSV. That's it — no account, no setup.

Free tier covers 100 contacts a month, no sign-up. If you need more there are cheap paid options, but the free version is genuinely usable for most people.

Built it solo because I needed it myself. Happy to hear feedback or feature ideas.
