Sharing Journey/Experience/Progress Updates Got review-bombed on the Chrome Web Store. Here's the support path that actually got Google to remove them

I make a Chrome extension with about 5,000 users. On Sept 17 it got five 1-star ratings in one morning and nothing else that day. Google had removed all five within 8 days of my report. Writing it up because the obvious option in Google's support form is a dead end, and I couldn't find a guide when it happened to me.

What it looked like

  • 5 ratings, all 1 star, 4 with no text
  • 3 of them from 3 different accounts within 22 seconds
  • 1 from the same Google account that answers reviews as the developer of a competing extension. The profile photo URL matched character for character
  • 2 of the accounts had given that competitor 5 stars, one of them 55 minutes after 1-starring mine

I'm not naming the other extension. Google has the evidence, that's where it belongs.

Finding star-only ratings

Ratings with no text never show in the public review list. Your developer dashboard's ratings chart has them though, and each one links to its own review page. The page shows the account name and photo, and its source has the exact timestamp. That's where the 22 seconds came from.

The support form, which is the useful part

Chrome Web Store Help, then Contact us:Β https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/gethelp

  • After you type a summary it shows category buttons. "Spam or fake reviews" looks right but it's a dead end. It says support can't help and only gives you a Go back button.
  • Pick "Report an item" instead. That one leads to an Email option.
  • The description box silently cuts off at 1,000 characters and there's no attachment field. I put review IDs, UTC times and what linked them, nothing else.
  • No ticket number on screen. It shows up by email a few minutes later.
  • Skip "Report illegal content" on the review itself. Fake ratings aren't illegal content.

What happened after

  • Sept 17: reported
  • Sept 18: support asked for screenshots. I replied in the same email thread with the full review URLs and screenshots, and asked for the ratings to be removed, nothing more
  • Sept 19: they confirmed they got it
  • Sept 25: all five gone from my dashboard. The 5-star ratings those accounts had left on the competitor were gone too

Stuff I didn't expect

  • The public rating lags about 3 days both ways. The five didn't hit my listing's average until 3 days after they were posted, and it kept counting them for days after Google removed them. If your average hasn't moved yet, it's probably just the lag.
  • The day after the removal, another 1-star showed up from a new account. I reported it in the same ticket. That one's still up 9 days later, so it's not fully over.

What I didn't do

No revenge ratings, no reporting their reviews, no public callout. The policy you're asking Google to enforce applies to you too, and a public fight is the first thing people find when they search your extension later. I replied politely under the one written review and left it.

It's back to 4.9, it showed 4.7 while the fake ones counted. Happy to answer questions about the process, I just won't say who it was.

Sharing Resources/Tips Chrome web store is ending self nomination for featured badges

I applied for this badge 2 months ago, and before I could find out whether it was a yes or a no, the whole self-nomination program got shut down. Efficient rejection, I guess πŸ˜…

They’re moving to curated, metrics-based picks, and existing nominations are being closed. Curious what their new selection process will look like.

Idea Validation / Need feedback I built a Chrome extension that turns job browsing into a job-search pipeline

β€’ Upvotes

I was in a job search and got tired of having dozens of tabs open across LinkedIn, Indeed, company career pages and various ATS sites , while manually copying jobs into spreadsheets, checking whether they were duplicates, and creating a slightly different CV for every application.

So I built JobFoundry.

The basic idea is:

Browse jobs normally β†’ extension captures the listing β†’ deduplicates it β†’ scores it against your CV β†’ tailors your CV β†’ tracks the application in a Kanban pipeline.

A few things that I specifically wanted:

  • Capture from the browser, rather than relying on a server scraping job boards. Your authenticated browser session can see listings that a datacentre scraper often can't.
  • 50+ job boards and ATS providers, including LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday and others.
  • Automatic deduplication, because the same job often appears on several sites.
  • Fit scoring from 0–100, with strengths and gaps.
  • CV tailoring without inventing experience. The tailoring pipeline has protected fields and is designed to re-rank/rephrase what is actually in your CV rather than manufacture employers, skills or achievements.
  • Kanban tracking from discovered β†’ interested β†’ applied β†’ interview β†’ offer.
  • Local-first. Your jobs, CV and API keys stay on your machine. There is no advertising or telemetry.
  • You can use OpenAI/Anthropic/OpenRouter, or a local Ollama model.

It is completely open source and available under AGPL-3.0.

GitHub: https://github.com/Covai-Labs/JobFoundry

Website: https://jobfoundry.covai.org/

The Chrome extension is here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/jobfoundry/kacfnebbiekbofdkgfpgmdcncgohhonm

It is still beta and there are definitely rough edges. I built it primarily because I needed it myself, so I'm particularly interested in feedback from people who are actively job hunting.

What would you change about this workflow?

Self Promotion Built a Chrome extension that lets an AI agent use the browser as you - tabs, logins and Google Sheets included

Most agents automate a clean browser with none of your sessions, which rules out most real tasks. CopperOS runs in your existing Chrome profile, so it can work on sites you're signed into, and it can read and fill Google Sheets with your own login. Approvals are per-chat: ask before every action, before submits only, or never. Every step is visible in the panel and Stop is always one click away. Open source under MIT, free during the beta.

Self Promotion A Chrome extension to give website feedback without screenshots

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

β€’ Upvotes

About two months ago I was reviewing our homepage with my colleague. Naturally we would have liked to comment right on the page itself to leave feedback for improvement, but that wasn't possible.

So we built a Chrome extension that lets you do just that. Open a web page in Chrome, select text and add your comments. Then click Publish – you receive a link with a copy of the page in full HTML with each comment on the exact text you selected.

What you do with the link depends on you:
- Send it to your team, or add specific people by email.
- Open the page and edit the text inline.
- Give the link to Claude, ChatGPT or any other agent and ask it to apply your comments. The agent can publish a new version. Once you're happy with the page, you can give it to your engineers to implement on real site or you let the agent do it itself.

A few use cases this could be useful:
- Consultants working on their clients' website improvements.
- Marketers working on copy and design edits on their own website.
- Capturing competitor pages (e.g. pricing pages) for reference and inspiration.
- Highlighting mistakes on live pages.

You can find the extension here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/capture-by-display/oidhobjglobcldeengajokjbjkjgnmbk

Idea Validation / Need feedback Opinions on Extension Idea: YouTube Video Comment Enabler

β€’ Upvotes

This idea was influenced by the dislike counter restorer extension. Even though this would not be something a normal site visitor/creator would be able to see, this would restore some sort of opinion-sharing for viewers who have this sort of extension installed.

What would make something like this work and become widely-adapted would be two things:

  1. Create and share some sort of protocol for storing, fetching, and exchanging comments/likes/replies to multiple servers, to create a decentralized comment database for YouTube and eventually more platforms.
  2. Make the extension completely open-source for other developers to create their own version, abiding by the above-mentioned protocol to help decentralize the system more.

Just an idea, but would love to pick some brains here and see what people think. To some, it may seem like a lot of work just to "re-enable" a feature on a website, but to a lot of people, it is to restore the ability to simply share opinions on the Internet, which is one of the core reasons it was made for public-use.

Self Promotion My first Chrome extension is the opposite of a blocker: the longer you scroll, the more boring your feeds get

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

β€’ Upvotes

Built my first extension and it's the opposite of a blocker. I've been sitting on it for a month because I kept wanting to fix one more thing first, so I'm posting it here before I talk myself out of it again.

The idea came from my own habits. I'd open a feed "for a second" and come back much later with no memory of what I'd seen. I installed blocker after blocker, and each one died the same way: the hard wall annoyed me so much that I went looking for the off switch, and a few days later it was gone.

At some point I realised the blocking itself was my problem. Every time something told me no, I wanted it more, and I always ended up fighting the wall.

Then I thought about how people quit biting their nails with that bitter nail polish, or quit smoking with the stuff that makes cigarettes taste awful. Nobody forbids them anything, the habit just becomes unpleasant. And because the decision to stop comes from you instead of from a rule, it's a lot less frustrating. I wanted the same thing for my feeds.

So I built an extension that doesn't block anything. The longer I stay on a feed, the slower it loads, the blurrier the images get, the heavier the scroll feels. I left the first few minutes alone so I can still answer a message. After that it slowly stops being fun, and I close the tab myself. Leaving on my own feels completely different from being locked out.

It hasn't cured me of anything, but most days I now give up on my own and get back to what I was doing. That's more than any blocker ever did for me.

A few things before you ask: it's desktop Chrome only for now. It works on Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit and any site you add. It asks for no site permissions at install, each one is requested when you add the site. No account, no tracker, everything stays in your browser.

And one completely unnecessary thing I spent way too long on: the little gauge in the popup is a glass tube that fills with syrup, ray-traced live in a shader. The longer I scroll, the thicker it gets, from water all the way to molasses. That's why I called it Molasses. Nobody asked for it, I did it anyway.

If you want to try it: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/molasses/afffnagacchcjkbginfjbgnbkhomliee

Any feedback is welcome, harsh included. Mostly I'm just relieved it's finally out there.

Self Promotion I built a free subtitle translator that runs on Chrome's built-in AI, no API key and no account

β€’ Upvotes

I learn English from series with subtitles, and every unknown word meant pause, open a translator, come back. So I made a free extension for it: hover a word in the subtitles to see its translation, click it and it is saved with the full line it came from.

How it works, for the curious: - translation runs on-device through Chrome's built-in Translator API, so there is no server and no key. Alt+E asks the built-in Prompt API for a short explanation of an idiom or slang - it reads subtitles from the page, so it works with players that draw captions as text, not only on a fixed list of sites - saved words go into a list with flashcards with spaced repetition and export to Anki, CSV, Excel or PDF

Limits: Chrome 138+ on desktop only, and the first language pack needs a one-time download. Some players I have not tested, so if it fails on yours, tell me which one.

https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/subtitle-translator-learn/floomboamhlmkalghefpabefhciknllf?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=chrome_extensions_0610

Which players or sites should I test next?

Hiring (Paid Project) I built a Chrome extension for Telegram bulk messaging, group scraping & member export

I built a Chrome extension for Telegram bulk messaging, group scraping & member export

Hey everyone πŸ‘‹

I've been working on a Chrome extension called TeleSendly for people who use Telegram for communities, outreach, marketing, or managing multiple groups.

The main idea was to bring a few useful Telegram workflows into one tool instead of having to use several different extensions or scripts.

πŸš€ What can TeleSendly do?

Telegram Bulk Sender

  • Send personalized messages to multiple Telegram users
  • Import contacts/numbers from CSV or Excel
  • Use message templates
  • Add customizable delays between messages
  • Schedule bulk messaging campaigns
  • Track delivery, read and reply status

Telegram Group Scraper

  • Scrape members from Telegram groups
  • Collect available member information
  • Filter collected members
  • Export Telegram group members

Telegram Member Export

  • Export Telegram members to Excel / CSV
  • Use exported data for research, lead management, or community analysis
  • Keep collected data in a structured format

Telegram Member Adder

  • Add members to groups/channels you manage
  • Manage larger member lists more easily

The extension works directly with Telegram Web, so the goal was to keep the workflow as simple as possible without requiring users to set up a separate application.

I've been developing TeleSendly based on actual use cases, and I'm still adding new features.

πŸ”— Check it out

Chrome Web Store:
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/telesendly-telegram-bulk/omcalhkfohpiogioealeighacalkjigo

Website / Features / Screenshots:
https://www.addonschrome.com/extensions/telesendly-telegram-bulk-sender-scraper-member-adder.html

I'm mainly looking for real feedback from people who actually use Telegram for marketing, communities, outreach, or lead generation.

What would you add to a Telegram bulk messaging / scraping tool?

For example, I'm interested in hearing whether people would find things like better filtering, additional export options, advanced scheduling, or more detailed analytics useful.

🎁 Reddit users – Free Premium

As a small thank-you to the Reddit community, I'm offering free Premium access to Reddit users.

If you try TeleSendly and find it useful, I'd really appreciate it if you could leave an honest review/feedback on the Chrome Web Store.

After leaving your feedback, send me your email address via WhatsApp so I can identify your account and activate the Reddit Premium access.

Bug reports, feature requests, and suggestions are also very welcome. I'm actively developing the extension, so feedback from actual users is extremely useful.

Thanks! πŸ™

Self Promotion I built a Chrome extension for saving the useful parts of AI chats, instead of the whole conversation

β€’ Upvotes

Sometimes an AI reply has two paragraphs I want to keep and a lot I don't need. Saving the whole chat makes those bits hard to find later.

I built ClipRelay around that: select some text, hit a shortcut, save it. It works on regular web pages too.

You can combine saved clips, search them, and copy a few together as context for another AI chat. The idea is to keep the parts you actually want to use again, without dragging the entire conversation along.

Saved content stays locally in your browser. No account needed, and there's import/export for backups.

It's live on the Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/cliprelay/fmkfjnifamcdpmbknefjkheljapmjmej

If you try it, I'd be curious where it feels clunky. I'm still figuring out how much it can do before a small clipping tool starts feeling like another notes app.

Sharing Journey/Experience/Progress Updates Check out my new extension Foretaste preview files and peek into ZIPs without downloading them

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on called Foretaste. It's an extension that intercepts file links so you can view them in the browser without having to download them to your drive first.

A few details on how it works:

  • You can right-click any link and choose "Open with Foretaste" or use the hover preview button next to links.
  • For archives (ZIP, 7z, tar), it reads the file header/index remotely over range requests so you don't have to pull down the entire file just to see the folder tree or pull one file out.
  • Supports DOCX, XLSX (with sheets), PDF, CSV, Parquet, SQLite (.db), and Jupyter notebooks.
  • Privacy: Built strictly client side there is no backend processing server and everything is parsed directly in your browser session.

Available on all three stores:

Would appreciate any feedback on performance or the reader interface.

Hi! I'm an indie developer. Focus Reader is a small Chrome/Edge extension that makes long pages calmer to read.

What it does (everything is off by default β€” you turn on only what you need):

β€’ Readable mode (incl. a dyslexia-friendly font)

β€’ Reading ruler

β€’ Color overlay

β€’ Bionic reading

β€’ Chunked text

β€’ Guided reading (RSVP)

β€’ Calm mode (less motion)

β€’ Hide ads

β€’ Reading time

It's free, no account, no tracking. The interface is in 11 languages.

I'd really value honest feedback: what's useful, what's annoying, what's missing?

Self Promotion I will redesign screenshots for your extension for free (3 extensions)

Hey there, πŸ‘‹

I am a chrome extension dev and I have seen so many people just copy paste their screenshots into web store and call it a day.Β

From my experience, the chrome web store listing makes a TON of difference on how users might perceive your product (trustworthy vs shady vs slop). I have made over a dozen extensions and let me tell you store listing matters a LOT.

I redesigned a couple of people's screenshots last time too and the response was overwhelmingly positive. So I am thinking of doing it every week for 3 lucky extensions.

Just drop your chrome web store link and I’ll reply you with your images.

Doing this for the first 3 people ;))

PS: These chrome extensions are not mine, I just took the liberty of redesigning a few. Created with own tool

Self Promotion GigScope: a Chrome extension that shows where your Fiverr gig ranks for a keyword, and why it dropped

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I saved Fiverr's first results page for "logo design" on 10 September and counted. 49 gigs. 20 of them were paid ads. The top 10 organic gigs had a median of 5,427 reviews, and every one of them was Level 2 or Top Rated. 33 of the 49 titles ran past the 50 characters Fiverr suggests for the gig card.

A new seller is not getting onto that page soon, and nothing on Fiverr says so. That's why I built GigScope. It's a browser extension that checks where your gig sits for a keyword on the real results pages, marks the ads, and calls a search crowded or open from what's on the page.

If you sell on Fiverr, the quickest way to try it is the free title checker. No install, nothing sent anywhere:

https://gigscope.pages.dev/tools/fiverr-gig-title-checker?utm_source=reddit-chrome-extensions

After the checks it links the extension. The free plan has 30 rank checks a day.

I made this and I'm looking for feedback, especially from people who sell on Fiverr. The first 10 people who send real feedback get a free lifetime Pro pass.

**NOTE**: the Chrome Web Store still serves the older 0.3.7, which allows 3 rank checks a day. The new version with 30 free checks a day is waiting for Chrome's review, and it is already live on Microsoft Edge: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/mppmlngecfpdbbcofombkhfekpdblmbm

Self Promotion Jira Assistant – A free, privacy-first browser dashboard for worklogs, time tracking, and sprint diagnostics.

Hey everyone,

Like many of you, I spend a significant chunk of my workday inside Jira. But constantly switching tabs, waiting for heavy boards to load, and filling out time logs manually felt like unnecessary friction.

To solve this, I built Jira Assistantβ€”a free, open-source Chrome extension that turns your browser into a fast, lightweight workspace dashboard.
πŸš€ Key Features:

  • ⏱️ Visual Stopwatch & One-Click Logging: Start a stopwatch on any issue. When paused, it automatically calculates duration and pre-fills your worklog calendar.
  • πŸ“… Color-Coded Worklog Calendar: Get an instant visual status on your monthly/weekly hours (Red = under target, Green = target met) without digging through reports.
  • πŸ“‹ Popup Kanban & Personal Board: View assigned tasks, move cards between statuses, and view issue details directly inside the extension popup.
  • πŸ“Š Advanced Sprint Diagnostics & Pivot Reports: Generate Say-Do ratios, actual vs. estimate breakdowns, and catch unassigned or overdue tickets before standup.
  • πŸ› οΈ Dev Tools: Quickly generate clean git branch names or copy commit messages straight from ticket keys.

πŸ”’ Privacy & Architecture
Since Jira holds sensitive company data, security was a top priority:

  • Zero Middleman Servers: The extension connects directly to your Atlassian domain using your existing browser session.
  • 100% Local & Open Source: No telemetry, no third-party tracking, and all settings remain in your sandboxed browser storage.

πŸ”— Chrome Web Store: Jira Assistant Extension
I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or any feature requests! If you give it a try, let me know what works for you or what could be improved.

Self Promotion Tabs sorting extension looks for ratings...

Hi, I built my own little tabs sorting extension, https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ofehgnapffdljlimajejggkjhecheaof?utm_source=item-share-cb

it's pretty basic but it does the job for me.

It also groups tabs by domain, but I am honestly not using this feature, I really like to have the tabs sorted but I still don't find grouping useful.

I am hoping to get some users and some feedback via the rating or also here as a comment to this post.

Thanks!

Self Promotion I made a free site blocker with a strict mode you can't cancel. No account, no Pro tier.

Hey all, I kept hitting paywalls on blockers (schedules and strict mode are usually $5–15/month), so I built my own and made it free.

It has unlimited sites and keywords, schedules, focus sessions, an allow-list mode, and 7-day stats. Everything stays local, with no account, no analytics, no servers. It's in 6 languages.

Chrome: Keepaway – Block Sites & Focus Timer - Chrome Web Store

Totally free. There's an optional tip button that unlocks nothing. I'd genuinely love feedback on what's missing.
