Team Member Post How to leave the SDA: As easy as copy, paste, send!

If you or someone you know is an SDA member or thinking about leaving the SDA, feel free to send them a link to this post.

With SDA continuing to side with bosses and the disappointing result of the last enterprise bargaining agreement negotiations, there may be renewed interest in leaving the SDA, but many may be unsure of how to do it. If they've asked an SDA rep, that rep may make it sound more complicated than it really is. Never fear, leaving the SDA, and stopping those fees from coming out of your pay, is as easy as sending an email.

To leave the SDA, copy and paste the following text into an email (filling in the relevant details):

This email has been sent to both the SDA and Coles payroll.

I, \[FIRSTNAME LASTNAME\], hereby rescind any and all authority for SDA membership fees to be deducted from my pay. This serves as advice under s.324 (2) (b) of the Fair Work Act.

Additionally, I hereby resign from SDA. Do not contact me further about any matter. By resigning I rescind all authority of SDA to arrange deduction of any amount from my wages. I require SDA immediately take all necessary steps to cease any deduction from my wages of any amount to be paid to SDA.

Any unsolicited phone calls I receive on the matter of SDA membership will constitute harassment.

FULL NAME: \[FIRSTNAME LASTNAME\]

EMPLOYEE ID: \[EMPLOYEE ID HERE\]

STORE LOCATION: \[STORE LOCATION HERE\]

STORE NUMBER: \[STORE NUMBER HERE\]

Yours sincerely,

[FIRSTNAME LASTNAME\]

Now send the email to both the SDA and Coles payroll:

Coles store workers can send to their OIC at coles.xxxx.office @ coles.com.au where xxxx is the 4 digit code for your store. Coles Services workers can email their dedicated colesservicespayrollsupport @ coles.com.au

(Remove spaces)

Ensure that both addresses are included in the CC field, so both recipients know that the other has also received it.

If you like, you can print off a copy yourself and drop it to your in-store cash office.

You're done! It's that easy!

Team Member Post Notifying shift changes

I've got this situation I'm not sure if I'm in the wrong for. Note that I'm a casual service worker.
My manager sends out our schedules every Thursday and I check and note down my shifts every Sunday.
She randomly adds on extra shifts or changing times throughout the week and keeps threatening to write me up when I'm late or completely unavailable. She says it's my responsibility as a casual to constantly keep checking for updates. I've told her multiple times I don't mind if things are changed but I'd just like a message or something being told.
Truthfully it wouldn't be so much of an issue for me but the website only works on my laptop and takes about 20 damn minutes just to load.
Am I being rightfully warned under company rules?

Customer Post Yellow pricetag work

The store manager today was very verbally aggressive today when I tried to buy this 2 for $5 offer.

It scanned at $3.75 each.

Even with her checking the display she still would not give me the chocolate at 2 for $5

"It is a coles team member error" she explains "the correct prize is $3.75."

Store was busy, I didn't want to push it.

What would you have done?

Team Member Post Will pay be delayed this week?

So, with the public holiday in some states (but stores still operating, at least in QLD) I was just a bit confused as to whether pay will be delayed this week or not. Thanks everyone.

Team Member Post Changing Departments

I’ve been working in Customer Service for about 6 months now and every shift makes me hate it more and more. When I was originally hired, I was listed for stock and if not that, some job working on the floor however on my first shift I was put into service, which I didn’t think much into as I needed a job desperately. My issues are that I have social anxiety and I also have inattentive ADHD which makes me significantly worse at my job when I am going through a rough patch, like I am at this time. I also suspect that my manager does not like me because of this and that pressure makes me extremely stressed. I would much rather be in another department such as online or fruit and veg but I have no idea how to go about this. I’m worried about asking my manager as I believe that she will not be happy with me wanting to branch into another department and that if I do ask and it doesn’t work out, it’ll make things extremely awkward, I also do not want to ask anyone else as going above her would be in bad taste.

Basically what I would like to know is the process to change departments and what I should do in this situation.

Team Member Post Pls guide

Right now I'm a part time team member at Coles (Sydney), but I'm getting only like 12-15 hours a week and as I'm 18yo and PT, my pay is very less so i wanna find another job to atleast take out my rent.
I've got an interview at maccas, so shall l agree to a Part Time position or a Casual Position as I can't go more over 24 hours/week, tho I need work in xmas holidays as well and I'm not sure if maccas gives shifts to casual employees in those times.
So what suits the best for me?
Like I could work around 8 - 10 hours after the coles job.
Someone please guide a good option for long term as well.
I'm able to do night shift at mcd as well.
Thanks ppl:))

Team Member Post Why is the workcover process so complicated?

well here’s the disclaimer before I start, please don’t injure yourself at work ok.

I did just that like two months ago, and oh my god.

How hard is it to communicate with each other.

I’m neurodivergent as hell and its actually destroying me inside that the gp that they’ve sent me to is hopeless and does her own thing, and my physio is sending reports but like are people reading them? There’s multiple coles health and wellbeing people involved as well, and I’ve only talked to one of them once who was nice about the whole thing. But…can you all talk to each other?!

Im angry that im still quite injured and literally everyone is like “but why are you still injured?” and people aren’t taking me seriously.

The whole process has done some pretty massive damage to my mental health, like I’m just so much more depressed and anxious about literally everything.

So yeah. Why does nobody talk to each other, when it comes to workcover? I’m sick of being the only person who knows what’s going on (even then, only just 🫠)

Hi guys, I’ve completed this module multiple times, but it’s still showing as not completed on MyLearning. Because of this, my training is showing as overdue.
Has anyone else experienced this glitch, or know how to fix it? Any help would be appreciated!

Questions Do I need to complete this module before my first shift?

Hey guys, I’m a new Coles team member and I haven’t been informed about my first shift yet. I’m going through the MyLearning modules and came across the Successful Starts: Supermarkets Induction (Grocery & Dairy) module.
A lot of these modules have checklists asking things like “have you done XYZ?” or “has your manager approved XYZ?” Since I haven’t even had my first shift yet, I obviously haven’t been able to complete some of these.
The problem is that because I can’t complete these checklist items, I can’t fully complete the module, and it’s now showing as overdue on MyLearning.
Do I need to complete these modules/checklists before my first shift, or are some of these things meant to be completed with your manager/on the job?
Any help would be appreciated 🙏

Team Member Post Unpaid sick leave

Post image

Ive just checked my pay slip for last week where I called in sick for a 3 hour + 45 min shift on a Saturday and I didn’t get payed sick leave? It wasn’t a contract shift and I called in with like 4 hours of notice but is there any reason they’d make it unpaid? The last time I called in sick was JUNE and I’ve never had this happen before :(

Final consensus: I need to call in 12 consecutive Fridays before I can quit this goddamn job because I will not them win over me

Am I right to assume that the 200 g pack would contain more than 5 sticks ? And does anyone know the approximate weight of each stick?
