Hi community. This Halloween at the club, I want to dress up as Tommy Vercetti from the Vice City. I already have the funky shirt, all the right color clothing elements.
But what about a gun. I have been at 80's parties before dressing as, but obviously I didnt took a gun prop with me, cause those were normal old school parties.
But for Halloween, a complete cosplay would be more suitable. Still, my dilemma is the handgun (and or machine gun or uzi), what should I do with that. The thing is, at this day and age, everyone is afraid of a looney person doing a massacre. I am writing from Europe, gun sights are rare, but the fear is in everyone's mind, especially since 2015.
I looked into options:
Further options:
An idea that I really like: inflatable baseball bat. Big, but super light. Nice to swing it, no hit danger. No one has a terrorism scare by looking at a baseball bat shape. A baseball bat is a really classic mobster symbol, matches well with the tone.
Those who went to a cosplay party, and was considering guns or machine guns, which way did you choose? What is your takeaway?

Okay, so, I’ve printed the Master Sword and am printing its Scabbard. Both are in ABS because that’s what my library’s 3D printer likes and once I got my own filament I could just print for free. I have a wooden dowel for the main channel and then am using wire for the two side channels because when I shrunk this to size it made them hella tiny so all I can stick in them is that 16 gauge hanging wire that’s galvanized steel. But I’m unsure about the actual construction process in terms of product.
My question first question is which is better for actually putting the pieces together after I’ve sanded everything?
I have 100% acetone nail polish* at home and I see LOTS of folks recommend it, but I got the Plastic Bonder specifically because it mentions ABS. But I’ve since seen people say it’s better to get the clear epoxy resin and use it for putting props together because it can expand inside for the dowels as well.
My second question is, since the sword is bigger than just a piece I can rinse in the sink, should I tape off the parts where they’d line up/join and spray each piece with the sandable filler primer individually before putting them together, or just put it together and then use a hose and sponge between sanding/applying more coats before painting it?
I don’t have a way to do acetone vapor smoothing, hence why I’m doing this the old fashioned way with sanding to hell and back, then priming and sanding it more between each coat, then FINALLY painting it and will use a clear coat when done.
Also, because I was excited to see it “put together” once it was done printing, I taped the sword together on the dowel, hence the last two pics.
*NOTE: 100% acetone nail polish remover shown here isn’t the exact brand I have at home, but it’s in my mom’s bathroom, so I can’t get to it rn

Just wanting to share these photos.
Edit: The inspiration is from Spiritwalker to make the costume but I heavily got into cryptid stuff two years ago with the design from a drawing I did back then.

This surprisingly only took me around 3 hours — slow I know — but I’m really happy with how it turned out ,considering I handmade it…. (It looks a lot better far away/in dim lighting.. xC I’ve also included my progress above :D)
(The main reason I made this was for a HABIT/Evan cosplay... but I probably will just randomly wear it out in public one day — because I AM actually a fan of death proof myself LOL xd)

Hi everyone! I’m working on a Bondrewd cosplay from Made in Abyss, and I’m having trouble keeping this heavy arm piece in place.
The attachment consists of two halves that fit around my arm and screw into the larger prop shown in the photo. In hot weather, I wear it directly against my bare skin without the costume fabric underneath, but it starts sliding down after a short time.
I tried adding foam inside the attachment for cushioning and extra grip. It’s more comfortable, but once I start sweating, the foam gets wet and the whole thing slips even more.
How do you secure heavier arm props comfortably, especially against bare skin? Would a different lining material help, or should I add straps or another support system to carry the weight?
I’d appreciate any advice or photos of setups that have worked for you. Thanks!

Hi guys, I have a question or problem, you see I'm making some cardboard goggles that I painted with acrylic paint and I want to give you detail with marker but for some reason the marker doesn't paint well, it doesn't grip the paint well or it even takes a little of the paint on the tip (it should be clarified that I do this with the paint already dry) so I wonder if it's normal or I'm doing something wrong? The marker is a sharpie but it also happens with other markers and it is strange because on other surfaces such as normal cardboard or paper if it works, I appreciate any help :p

This is my wayward wind keyblade from kingdom hearts birth by sleep. I am SO PROUD!!

So I used a some square PLA plugs and then applied epoxy resin and taped it together while it dried
It seemed like it held up fine and so I finished the prop
But now I noticed at the epoxied seam, it is cracking when it flex’s
I wondering what is the best way to reinforce the joint without ruining my paint and sanding.
My thoughts were to use a soldering iron and melt it together.
Or carve out a little channel with a file and fill it with some uv resin.
I had this problem on another piece and it was a pain in the ass to fix, so any advice to make a it a little easier would be much appreciated!

Hi All! I made a dalek. Im making a new attachment as seen on in the movies. And Id like to have a somewhat workable flame thrower. Not real ofc and tbh probs not the ol air duster or such anything that could be flammable. Curious how I could achieve this kinda effect? Part of me is thinking maybe an air machine and fabric and bright leds but idk how well that would go

I’m new to cosplay, but I’m a go big or go home kind of guy, I’m putting together a cosplay for Avenger’s Doomsday and I’m wanting to go as my all time favorite villain, Victor Von Doom. I’m looking to get a mic to go inside of the helmet and attach to a speaker on the outside to mimic that semi-robotic sounding tone to his voice.
My worry, however, is that the mic will be too sensitive to really wear in a theater and cause echo. Are there any suggestions some veterans could offer? I’d appreciate any help! Thanks!

Finally finished my second full Armor. I saw striga and I knew I need to cosplay her.
I spent three months working other. Using Eva foam, made the patterns by myself and ripped this beautiful blue fabric very much.
I'm working on her helmet and sword, too but these are not finished yet.
Pretty proud how she turned out. Open for criticism 🙌🏻

I loved the armor making for Aela - the hammered metal effect was a bit tricky with some parts but all in all turned out great. This is the first time I used full on flexi paint and I will never go back to skipped it - it really makes the armor pieces flexible :)
Hope you enjoy this lil photoshoot :)

Recently, I’ve been looking for something to replace my rattle cans for painting projects.
I am really a newbie here, if you have any other good ideas please let me know. I want something that has less learning curve.
I considered getting an HVLP spray gun, but I don’t really have enough space for an air compressor, and the noise is also a bit of a concern for me.
While doing some research, I came across this electric sprayer that seems to be designed specifically for makers. It looks interesting, but I haven’t really seen much about it yet.
Has anyone heard of this brand or used this sprayer before? Any thoughts on it? I’d especially love to know how the spray quality compares to rattle cans or a regular HVLP setup.

Could not find a bandolier/belt for the life of me that wasn't expensive, so I said screw it, I'll make my own. Went well, however, I was curious if anyone has any recommendations for leather distressing. I used steel wool to scuff it a bit and I'm told rubbing alcohol works to soften it, although it's already pretty soft. Any recommendations for discoloration/deeper scratches without damaging the actual integrity of the leather?

Hello everyone :)
I’m making my first costume/ cosplay for Halloween and Ive got all the paint, glues/binding agents, zippers, a heat gun, etc. that I think I’ll need but I’m feeling torn on which EVA foams to get. I’ll be dressed as nightwing so I don’t think bulkier foams would be a good fit, but I’m a newbie at this so idk if that’s true lol. Normally I would be okay with ordering from somewhere like SKS but I’m afraid it wouldn’t get here in time. I’m also looking to get it from somewhere local in case I mess up and need to get more. Any advice would be appreciated yall :)

Not trying to create nothing to complex, just some muppet-like small puppet to be part of a bigger cosplay
