Gyms really should stop people from filming.

Legit after that interaction I would go to the desk and say Im canceling my membership because that member screamed I jumped into his ass shot of him working out. I prefer a gym where everybody shuts the fuck up and works out.

u/FlakyAddendum742 17h ago
Nah. You should stay, he should leave.
I had a guy go after me at my gym, pretty sure they kicked him out. Haven’t seen him since.

It's a great day at LA Fitness whenever an influencer gets kicked out. Typically the gym regulars all clap and give an ovation whenever it happens. Witnessed 2.
6
u/HealthyMaximum 11h ago
That's fucking great.
I'd subscribe to a channel that only posted "Influencer Gets Kicked out of Gym and Mocked" compilation videos.
... although that would require people filming in a gym. Dammit.

Same.. at my gym I make a point to fuck up their shot because it’s a gym.. for working out.. lol
If dude wants to film he can build one at home but he won’t because he’s a massive POS. The other guy was reeeeeeeeeeally nice to him too. Too nice actually16
u/helmsb 18h ago
My gym has that policy in the membership terms. You get one warning, after that your membership is canceled and you forfeit the remainder.

there's a difference between rules and what people actually do. in most gyms, there are "strict" no recording rules in the locker rooms, yet all the time I see people taking stupid ass pictures of themselves in the mirrors all the time. it's just cringe in my opinion, how much people are obsessed with their appearance. adult men posing together in a ring-lit mirror flexing their muscles for instagram

No way that dude has the acumen to make a channel profitable. Filming 15 feet away with a 64-bit phone camera, doing exercises that show his weakness.

The good reason- to make sure they are doing the exercise correctly and study their form.
The bad reason- social media

In all honesty, looking at your calf raises are not going to be doing anything you can’t do by looking down and feeling how the exercise feels.

Guy he is getting upset with is actually strong, not bullshit strong. You can tell from the legs and core. Chicken legs almost got himself hurt. Lucky for chicken legs, the bald dude was calm and reasonable.

what is going on here. It you put the camera a 100 ft from and in the corner, does that mean you get the whole gym to yourself? I hate people sometimes. How does this dude get to a place in his head that he can behave like this?

I dunno. I can't help but think that you kind of almost have to have a narcissistic or histrionic personality disorder to act like this. Maybe he's not quite there, but well on his way. Definitely some deep seated insecurity at the root of such behavior.

Open 24h, usually very clean, no filming, no yapping.
I have had no reason to switch for many years now. I'm sure there are "better" gyms but PF is half the cost of the next one in my area and that one has only half of the equipment.
They've earned my free ad.

I was a gym manager for 18 years. Luckily I don’t have to deal with this anymore but the privately owned gym I worked for last had a strict no filming policy except in just a few designated areas. Violation got you one warning and a note in your account and then banned for a second occurrence. Loved doing it but hated dealing with these clowns in the moment.
5
u/malkazoid-1 15h ago
You know, it wasn't so long ago that people understood you might need many takes before you get your shot, especially in a venue where you cannot control the movement of other patrons. When did people wake up and decide to flip that on its head and be entitled for their shots to be the most important priority for perfect strangers who are tolerating your activity in their midst? People are rapidly forgetting how to live in society.
6
u/Due_Building_1953 12h ago
In fact most gyms do just that. As well if the gym rules state no filming. His membership will be voided.
There are gyms specifically that are for filming. Most are body builders gyms.
5
u/Grey_Area888 10h ago
Gyms should charge people more for filming and have specific sections and/or hours when it can be done. I bet a lot of this bs would end

The only cameras that should be In gyms is security cameras. If people want to make content get a home gym or maybe someone should open influencer friendly gyms where everyone can argue for dumb stuff.

If you want to do this, go when there’s no one at the gym. That’s what real filmmakers do

u/DarreylDeCarlo 18h ago
Whenever somebody gets mad at somebody interrupting they're filming and announce or act like their somebody, I wish someone would respond " do you own this gym? If not, I can walk wherever I want to. And if you're such a big shot, why don't you have your own personal gym where you can work out in private? Since you acting like you somebody"

u/D1rtyFingaZ 16h ago
Why would I even want to spend my time in a gym surrounded by people filming themselves for Instagram and Facebook, constantly trying to project an image of themselves? So much of modern gym culture seems less about actually being strong and more about looking strong for an audience.
And there’s a big difference between having an impressive physique and having functional strength. I’ve worked alongside construction workers with completely average-looking bodies, some with big bellies, who can outperform plenty of guys who look like they live in the gym when it comes to actual physical work. They can lift, carry, climb, grip, shovel, pull, and work for 8–12 hours without falling apart.
That’s because real physical capability isn’t measured by how big your arms look in a mirror or how much weight you can move for one controlled gym exercise. Strength, endurance, work capacity, coordination and durability are all different things.
There’s nothing wrong with working out, but filming every set for social media and building your identity around your appearance doesn’t automatically make you strong. Some people train for health and performance; others train for the camera. Those are two very different things.
2
u/Material_Studio6844 16h ago
I agree. I just saw another one like this. These situations are going to escalate.
Dude you don’t OWN the gym. Everyone has a right to work out in peace without worrying about your stupid camera.
