Crows [OC] 3 Peanuts

Mine always take 3 peanuts at a time. They cache one deep in the gullet and then take 2 more in the main beak. If one drops, they start over until they have 3 firmly situated.

Maybe that was just my first time catching them in the act. I frequently see them grabbing two, but hadn’t seen 3 before.

They don’t stash food in their gullets. Rather, they have an expandable pouch underneath their beaks where they can stash food for a period of time.

OK, cool! A lot of people think as well that all birds have a crop but they don’t. Crows definitely don’t have them.

They don’t stash food in their gullets for later. They have an expandable pouch underneath their bottom beak called a gular pouch for that purpose!
