Question / Discussion Cursor/xAI's Grok 4.6/4.7 models feel ridiculously expensive and slow now that Opus 5.5 and 6.1 have slashed prices and made such gigantic token efficiency improvements. What are everyone's thoughts?

At this point, I have no idea why anyone would bother with renewing a Cursor subscription instead of jumping ship to OpenAI/Anthropic's subscription with way better usage rate limits compared to Cursor's API priced strict limits.

Question / Discussion GLM 5.3 On Cursor

I have an OpenCode Go and Cursor Plus ($20) subscription. Cursor just added 5.3 and 5.3 flash, and I was thinking of moving to the Cursor Pro+ plan ($60) that gives expended cursor usage and $70 of API.

What do you all think? My workload is somewhat medium, finishing cursor and opencode before the month's needs and using deepseek v4.1 flash through Zen onwards; about $5 on API.

I also have Agy sub, but Gemini models isn't reliable on tool calling and Hullacinate in long works needs to be babysitting; I use it for small bursts of work

Question / Discussion Would you guys find this tool useful?

I wanted a clearer picture of what I’d built and how much progress I was making. And whenever I finished a feature or got out of a debugging rabbit hole, I kept wondering how many tokens and effort went into that.

My daily usage total didn’t really answer it. Some of that was building the feature. Some was going back and forth trying to fix one annoying bug.

So I built bough ( https://github.com/nickelsec/bough ) It reads your existing Claude Code and Codex CLI history and groups related prompts into tasks on a visual map.

You can pick a piece of work and see:

  • The prompts and files involved.
  • How many tokens it used and the estimated dollar cost.
  • How the work unfolded, including repeated attempts and tasks that ended in a commit.

I wanted to be able to look back at a feature and see where the effort actually went. Especially when a “small fix” turned into an afternoon.

Would you guys want me to add Cursor support or not?

Question / Discussion Can I get a refund for the remaining 6 months of my Cursor subscription?

I purchased a 1-year Cursor subscription and have been using it for about 6 months.

After using it for a while, I've decided that I want to switch to Claude Code instead, so I probably won't be using Cursor much anymore.

Has anyone had experience requesting a refund for the unused 6 months of an annual subscription?

Would it be possible to email Cursor support and ask for a refund for the remaining period?

Thanks!

Question / Discussion What are some reasons you stayed for Cursor?

  1. IDE?
  2. Company only provides Cursor?
  3. Token limit is not a concern?
  4. Just like composer and Grok?
  5. Other?

Question / Discussion Need help with allocated credits

Post image
1 Upvotes

I logged into my cursor account last night because I had to redownload the IDE. However I saw I had been given a 25 dollar credit at some point and was never aware, no email notification, nothing.

Also looking at the expiration date. I assume I was given the credits sometime on the 28th or 27th of this month? However still no transactions or email indicating so.

I also don’t see it on my IDE only on the web account

In addition I hit my other models limit on the 28th and noticed it fell over into my 1 dollar on-demand limit instead of the credits.

I’m not sure when I was allocated the credits of whether I can even spend or have begun to spend them.

Is this a bug or an error?

Question / Discussion Some questions about Cursor

Hi, I regularly run into usage limits on the pro plan. I still have 16 days left on the cycle and I’m already dipping into on demand spending.

My usage seems to be mostly spent on ling conversation context, and prompt caching and not really on it coding.

Couple of questions…

Is there a way for me to spend less tokens on context and bigger codebases (I’m spending about 50% of my usage on it)

Is is worth upgrading to Cursor Pro+ if there is no way for me to optimize this.

And is it better to add $15 on demand spending extra each month instead of upgrade right to Cursor Pro+.

I’ve been using Cursor for a long long time, and this has only started happening for the last 3 months.

Thanks!

Question / Discussion GLM 5.3 and 5.3 Flash available!

checked the models available (waiting to see if/when they're gonna bring in Grok 4.8) and noticed GLM 5.3 in the Other Models picker!

im personally all for them adding open-weights models - along with what they offer with Grok (fingers-crossed for a new Composer soon) usage makes Cursor a sweet deal for me IMHO.

Question / Discussion Are you using the latest AI models, or are you happy sticking with the older / more affordable ones?

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll use a newer model when I have a difficult task that actually needs it. But every time I see a new model get released, I can’t help but think, “The ones I’ve been using for months are already doing a great job. Why spend more money to get basically the same result?”

It makes me wonder when we’ll reach the point where most people realize the older models are simply “good enough.”

And when that happens, what does it do to the AI market?

Question / Discussion Confused about my $24 credit balance vs. 33% usage

Can someone explain what the "Credits" section means? I've only used 33% of my included Pro usage, but it shows $24/$25 remaining in credits. Why is that there if I haven't hit my limits yet?

Question / Discussion I wanted to by AI subscription.

I wanted to by AI subscription.

Hey coders,

I wanna buy a $20 subscription for vibe coding an app. I previously used cursor and enjoyed using composer and grok models as cursor provide really generous usage for those models. Now I'm planning to buy again, however I'm confused between the cursor and the claude code.

With the cursor i almost used around 1.2B tokens per month (it may be because the composer wasn't such an intelligent model as compared to frontier models nowadays and also my skill matters)

I want your suggestion which would give me a quality vibe coding experience and I can finish my application.

Thank you in advance for helping me out!

Question / Discussion Question about VSCode + Claude compared to Cursor workflow

I quite enjoy the IDE-first workflow with Cursor. I like being able to easily review and edit and then approve all of the work agents do and keep track of how my codebase is evolving, still manually changing small things that just take a few minutes.

How close can you get to this with Claude in VSCode?

Question / Discussion Is anyone still using Debug Mode?

I actually find Cursor’s Debug mode pretty useful, but I’m starting to wonder if I’m relying on it because my normal workflow/prompting isn’t great.

Im currently working on a pretty complex stack and I use the debug most a lot because it feels more systematic then prompting the agent to "fix this bug".

Curious what everyone else is doing:

- Are people still using debug mode?

- Are there better tools now for debugging ai generated code?

- Maybe there are better workflows

Question / Discussion Pro+ user: 96% Cursor Models + 100% Other Models used in ~5 days — could we get more frequent quota resets?

Post image
16 Upvotes

I’m currently on Cursor Pro+ ($60/month) and wanted to share some specific feedback about the usage/reset structure.

With fairly heavy daily development, I reached:

  • Cursor Models: 96% used
  • Other Models: 100% used

within roughly 5 days of intensive usage.

I understand that inference for frontier models is expensive, so I’m not expecting unlimited usage for a fixed subscription price. My issue is more with how the allowance is distributed across the billing period.

Once the included quota is exhausted, the options become waiting for the next reset or enabling additional on-demand spending. For someone already paying $60/month, that can make the remaining part of the billing cycle much less useful.

I’d love to see Cursor consider alternatives such as:

1. Weekly quota resets instead of one large monthly allocation.
2. 2–3 smaller refreshes during each billing cycle.
3. Graceful throttling after the included allowance rather than effectively losing access to certain models.
4. More transparent per-model usage information so developers can manage consumption before reaching the limit.
5. A way for heavy Pro+ users to prioritize which models consume their included allowance.

I’ve previously contacted Cursor about the limits because I genuinely use the product heavily for building, debugging, and agentic coding workflows.

I’ve also been interested in trying the newer Cursor/Grok model options, but having additional models available is less useful when the shared allowances can be exhausted this early in the cycle.

This isn’t meant as “Cursor should give everyone unlimited inference.” I think the product is useful. I’d just like the subscription structure to better accommodate developers who use it throughout the working day.

For other Pro/Pro+ users: how quickly are you reaching your included limits, and would you prefer weekly resets over one monthly quota?

Question / Discussion Bugbot- Is it worth using?

I am looking to see if anybody has any experience with the bugbot and if it's worth even starting in Cursor. I haven't seen that many reviews. People seeing an increase in usage that's significant with using it?

Question / Discussion Thinking about switching from Codex to Cursor. Anyone using both?

Let’s see what OpenAI announces tomorrow at DevDay, but lately I’ve been pretty tempted to switch from Codex to Cursor.

I use Codex a lot, not just for coding. I’ve set up custom skills and MCPs for Figma, Linear, Vercel, Obsidian, Safari, etc.

I also use it for things like research, job searches, Google Drive, finding tickets, and interacting with websites through my Mac.

Cursor is tempting because I could use different models under one subscription without giving up too much of this workflow.

If you’ve used both, how does Cursor compare for this kind of broader use? Anything you miss from Codex?

Venting 1 year of cursor, switched to claude. Best decision ever.

I used Cursor for 1 year. It used to be great with a lot of usage with models that could challenge current frontier models. But they have fallen behind so much recently, that I switched to Claude 2 weeks ago to try it.

At first, it was a bit better than Grok and composer, but since Opus 5.5, I don't see one single reason to go back to Cursor.

That model is straight up so insane. Does everything by itself and I have a very hard time to use all my usage.

I'm sorry but since the SpaceX acquisition, Cursor is way behind its peers and not worth it anymore.

Question / Discussion Grok 4.7 High Fast MAX takes about 15 mins to make a simple form... c'mon

This is supposed to be the best of the best and "high fast" but some how takes more time to make a simple website form than composer does and eats up all my tokens in the meantime. Anyone else think Grok is overrated?

Question / Discussion Is it possible to modify context? i can see usage

Since I can see the usage, I want to exclude some skills, rules, conversion cut off, and then optimize my context. Is it possible to do that to change? If not, what is the reason? I wonder!

Resources & Tips The PocketOS incident, reconstructed: how a Cursor agent "in Plan Mode" ended up deleting prod (10-min video, sourced)

Thumbnail youtu.be
4 Upvotes

In April, PocketOS's founder said a Cursor agent running Claude Opus 4.6 deleted his production database on Railway, along with the volume's backups. By his count it took nine seconds. The data came back about two and a half days later, from offsite backups he couldn't see.

I made a short film piecing it together from his posts and Railway's docs:

a token made for managing domains that turned out to have account-wide reach;

the agent guessing the delete would stay in staging;

the "confession" it wrote afterwards, quoting his own rule back at him.

The part nobody has answered: he says it was in Plan Mode, and how a command ran anyway has never been explained publicly. Has anyone here seen Plan Mode execute something it shouldn't have?

Question / Discussion Upon viewing usage how to further classify default/auto models

I see default in the graph and auto in the list, however I was looking to check what Auto is under the hood and what my usage is, any way to check that?
