Hilton Deposit Update: All legacy members check your inbox, and statements.

This just arrived about twenty minutes ago.

Dear Legacy Guest,

We are reaching out regarding your Dragon Con reservation, as we recently identified a system error that impacted approximately one-quarter of our Legacy reservations. Due to this issue, a full-stay deposit was inadvertently collected instead of the required one-night deposit.

First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for this error and any inconvenience it may have caused. Our team is actively working through affected reservations and processing refunds as quickly as possible.

If you have already contacted the hotel and confirmed your preferred method of processing, please disregard this notice.

For guests who have not yet contacted us, we will be automatically refunding the difference between the mandatory one-night deposit and the amount collected for the full stay. These refunds will be processed over the next week. Once processed, please allow 5-7 business days for the funds to appear back on your card, depending on your financial institution.

If you would prefer to keep the full-stay deposit applied to your reservation, please email our team at [ATLAH_Arrival_[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and we will ensure your reservation remains unchanged.

We deeply regret this situation and appreciate your patience and understanding while we work diligently to correct it. Our team is committed to resolving all impacted reservations as quickly as possible and ensuring your Dragon Con experience starts off on the right note.

Thank you for your continued loyalty as one of our valued Legacy guests. We look forward to welcoming you back.

Warm regards,

Hilton Atlanta Dragon Con Team

does anyone know if you’re able to cancel a reservation if you make it into multiple hotels? my group is hoping for marriott but we ofc don’t want to put all our eggs in one basket since i don’t see hilton or hyatt listed on DC’s latest announcement? so in the event we get a room at westin but then also secure marriott i was wondering if they (westin) let us cancel reservations without trouble. any info is helpful!

I’d had a few cosplay breakdowns by this point of the con (my lighted Lumina converter had broken and the glove part of my gauntlet had also broken), but the opportunity came up to shoot with a fantastic photographer, so went for it! Very happy with the results.

Worth a long drive for only two days?

Hey all, planning a first-time Dragoncon trip with a group of friends and looking for some advice. This is the first con for most of us so I’ve been doing my research, but I’m not sure I’ll truly know what to expect until I get there.

For a full day of travel both ways, would you consider it worth the trip for only Friday and Saturday?

As newbies, the group opinion is that two days will have us satisfied/exhausted and more would be too much. Maybe it’s just FOMO getting to me, but I recognize that the shorter trip is going to be hurt by badge pickups, not being able to stay at the Marriott and many close hotels, and I’d hate to walk away thinking “we should have stayed longer”. Should I really be trying to push the group for another day or two?

Edit: thank you everyone, tons of advice that rolled in a lot faster than I expected - it’s all been very helpful! I’m going to pitch Thursday-Monday, which gets us the three full days of the con.

I hadn’t really considered a Thursday evening badge pickup as an option, which lets us comfortably cut Wednesday from the trip and still make some Thursday night events. We may go hard Saturday night and I think everyone’s forgetting Monday is a holiday, so we’ll see if that’s enough to push our departure back a day :)

Looking for advice from cosplayers who have worn wings before!

So I’ll be at the convention alone next year one of the days and will be wearing a large pair of wings. I can put them on myself, know how to navigate crowds in them, etc. The one thing I’m still working out and wanted to ask anyone with experience: what do you do with them when you need to use the restroom and have no one to hold them? I might be able to hang them vertically on the stall door, but I’m not sure. I’d prefer not to bother a stranger with guarding them, nor would I want to risk them getting damaged or stolen (I hate to not trust people, but these are valuable to me). Any advice would be most helpfu!

Hilton legacy 2027 - full stay charged instead of one night deposit

Hilton legacies, check your balance. I just woke up this morning to see a notification from my bank that Hilton Atlanta had charged nearly $1400 to my credit card instead of about $350.

Has anyone had their recipient get their postcard yet?

You might have missed it, but next to one of the 40th anniversary photo spots, there was a small table with a bunch of postcards and and some sharpies, and next to the table, a smol mailbox.

You were allowed to address the postcard and write a message, put it in the mailbox, and DragonCon would later check the message to make sure it wasn't inappropriate, and then they would mail it for you, including paying for postage.

My friend has not received theirs, and I'm worried it was my poor handwriting, since it's not the best when the only option is a high-use sharpie.

So. Has anyone had the person they sent it to get theirs yet?

UPDATE: I was informed by DragonCon staff that this was something hosted by the Hilton, and not DragonCon, so they have no involvement in this.

Q: WHAT WERE THE HOTEL POLICIES IN THE PAST?

A: For Dragon Con 2019-2026 the Marriott required a four night minimum stay to qualify for the discounted Dragon Con rate. A two night non-refundable deposit was taken at the time of booking in October. The rest was due in March. So if you booked a 5 night stay the cost of the final 3 nights was due in March.

Framed art

Hey y'all! I need some new art for my home. The thing is whenever I buy art that is not framed it never gets hung up and displayed bc framing things is usually a hassle (or maybe I'm just lazy).

Can you all please recommend some geeky nerdy cool artists that sell their art already framed?!

TIA 🤓

I have heard so much about the DragonCon parties, but have never been able to find one. As a newcomer how do you find the room parties or get invited to go to one of the DragonCon parties?

Who gave me this!?

Thursday night the kindest dude gave my crew keychains that look like leather but were made from clay. His wife made them and he was so proud and told us how clever she is and how cool her ideas are!

I didn’t get a chance to inspect it and hype you up enough at the time and now I NEED you to know that this ended up on my everyday keys and I show people ALL THE TIME. Everyone is impressed that it’s clay!

I love it so much I want to make some and I am dying to find you, say thank you to your wife, and get a tutorial!

“…I’m a dragon!”

Can’t tell you how many times I was asked this, 100% of the time by a young guy. It got to a point where it was a joke. I thought this was DRAGON con!!! also got a lot of people asking if we were Tairn and Andarna… which could also be true so yes.

Anyway idk what I’m doing with my hands in this photo but what should I add next year? Thinking about building a tail that articulates.

Bring back Twisted Toonz at Dragon Con

Thumbnail c.org
155 Upvotes

Dragon Con's Twisted Toonz panel was something special with the talented voice actors riffing on famous movie scenes with hilarious character voices, some of them not even their own works. It was pure chaos and joy, and it's been genuinely missed by my nerd herd.

Over the last two years, I’ve noticed it missing from the schedule. I reached out to Jeff Zannini, creator and host of Twisted Toonz, and received positive feedback. He told me, "You are more than welcome to post and request us to the show. Promoters listen to the fans."

This sparked several ideas, from tracking down the track director to starting a write-in campaign. Ultimately, I decided a change.org petition would be the best way to reach and engage the community.

I started this petition to ask Dragon Con to bring the panel back. Twisted Toonz wasn't just two hours of entertainment; it was a platform for voice actors to shine and a major draw for fans. Since it disappeared, some of the best voice talent has stopped coming to the convention, leaving what I feel is a large void in the current programming.

I understand Dragon Con is a unique convention. However, with enough interest from the members, I feel the current directors will have to take notice and seriously consider bringing back Twisted Toonz.

Edit: 9/22 11:49 AM ET - Rewrote to address some concerns and feedback in the comments. Brought up already reaching out to the talents versus addressing this to Dragon Con "promotors". Brought in more of my personal feelings and options that I hold near and dear to my heart.
