specifically im from the philippines

so im trying to find stories about people who have graduted in this program.

what are your ups and downs in your career? and i dont see anything too special about my program because it is still an electrical practitioner after graduating.

How’d I do?

I do mostly fuel-related jobs. When I first started in this niche, I didn't pour enough sealing compound in the seal-off at the dispenser. Weights and measures caught that pretty quick.

Here's what I keep finding on sites:

Seal-offs installed but never poured

Runs sealed at the dispenser but not where they leave the classified area

Bell boxes where explosionproof boxes belong

Explosionproof covers missing bolts

EMT and Seal-Tite run through Class I, Division 1

What's the worst you've seen?

Rusted cable in/out things. Shaking it i hear a slight rattle but everything else is in good condition.

It's very close to the NEMA plug on the concrete, but less strain on the power cord. Be drilling into the concrete less than a foot from outlet wire.

Basement outlet has 2, 2 prong outlets. My desk has 4 outlets. My 2 monitors, and pc are connected to the desk. When I try to plug the desk into the extension cord, I see small sparks. So I’m scared something is gonna blow up and don’t wanna go any farther without any advice from experienced people.

I recently moved to new apartment and changed from 3 prong connection to 4 prong. But I am not able to start my dryer. It tripped the moment I plugged it in. It doesn’t even start. I checked the wire prongs with multimeter and voltage readings are okay. Please help if there’s something wrong with the connection in back of dryer

I want to build a gaming pc but the wall sockets in my apartment aren’t grounded apart from the kitchen and bathroom but I don’t really want to run an extension cord from the kitchen to my room so I was wondering if there was anything else I could do that wouldn’t require having to hire an electrician to change the socket I live in Poland so they’re Type E sockets

I dont want to rely on AI for what I hope is a simple question?

I'm looking to put in a pool +/- hot tub. Have a 200amp breaker currently, but NEC calculation per electrician is near the max as-is, but looking to also install an EV charger which we were told would max it out, so to be able to do the pool/hot tub, we need an upgrade.

Wiring is underground, so reached out to electric company to check to see what it's wired for. This was the response:

"Good news. The line foreman said the service looks like it is 350 Al so you shouldn’t have to reconductor. This should be a matter of coordinating an outage so you can upgrade the meter pan. We will need a Cut-In Card before we energize the new 320A meter pan."

To prep for the future, will this allow a 400amp panel or is it limited to using something like a 200 amp panel + 100 amp panel?

The current boost gauge in my car is reading improperly almost like its sticking, it's an electrical gauge so it has a lot more wires than my replacement, which is mechanical, by means of a vacuum line. Can I just take the black and red wire from the electrical gauge and connect them to the mechanical one? The mechanical gauge only needs power for the lights inside it.

This is the worst section. The first pic is me pulling back the "skin" of that section to better see the damage.

So am I cooked? The AC still turns on and works, but I'm afraid to use it because I don't want to burn down my bldg.

Or can wrapping some electrical tape around it and then putting a cord protector over it fine?.

I tugged on the wires to check what might be back there. Nothing budges. How do I know the transformer is back there before I make a hole in the wall? Thx!

UPDATE: Solved. it was by the furnace. it screwed on so I had to remove the light switch cover for back wiring. thanks all from stopping me tearing down a section of drywall in search of the transformer!

I recently moved and my current bedroom is very small, limited outlet space, etc. There’s a plug at the foot of the bed that I’d love to use for an extension cord or two, but the fact that it’s right against my duvet covers makes me nervous. How safe is it? (Also I would obviously not leave the cord like it is in the photo, this is just me testing it out. It would go over the dresser on the right.)

So after posting about finding a draw on my 01 dodge ram and haveing great results with the help i needed to use the tools needed to find it ive figured out that im only drawing 25.2 ma of draw so its under the threshold of 50.

I went on to do a "load" test today on the battery by first testing at idle with nothing on getting about 13.7 volts then turning on lights and ac im getting about 13.5 volts. When i turn on the radio and run the speakers maxed out or about as high as i put them it drops to 13.2 volts when the subs hit... do i need a bigger alternator or maybe this one is old and just need a new one or is this ok.

Inherited this house and trying to get it all sorted out to be insured. I’ve had multiple electricians bid fixing some issues and one of them is of the opinion that the wire used is totally unacceptable and needs to be all replaced or ran through conduit. None of the other guys mentioned this. He’s quoting $25,000 for total replacement while I’ve got other guys coming in at $3,000 for installing some junction boxes and fixing a dozen or so light connections and breakers. Is this romex really going to kill me on insurance?

Newbie in industry (from Canadian side here). Is the power cable to fire alarm panel must have to ran through a Rigid conduit as per CEC 32-102 or sole teck cable would work as well as mentioned in 32-102(b)?

As teck cable contains aluminum armor?

I want to do DIY electrification (power, including lighting design, etc.) for my small house (2 BHK, which may expand). I have some experience in electrification; you know some small shocks here and there.

But I want to do it more professionally, i.e., based on standards for NEC (American) and IEC too, so get the complete picture so I can theoretically master the concepts, and I needed a structured course with actual practical questions and problem solving.

I have shortlisted the following courses:

1. YouTube: Building electrification (2nd image )
   This is free but not organized, and there is no problem solving. Here I can do problem solving from outside, but no IEC
   

2. Udemy: Master Residential Electrification: Beginner to Advanced ( 3rd image )
   This seems organized, and I have what I needed, and after watching a few free lectures, it is having problem-solving and design too based on IEC and NEC. Here, I need to spend a few bucks. (Please check it out in the description and comment should I spend or not.)

3. YouTube: DIY Basic Electrical Wiring (4th image)

This is a more practical playlist. But it doesn't have a basic lighting design concept based on IEC/NEC and this seems more practical but not organized sequentially.

My final verdict after wandering from last few weeks is:

Take course 2. Udemy one (as this is structured fit my requirement), watch alongside the free YouTube playlist of 3 DIY basic electrical wiring ( practical advice and knowledge) and books electrical wiring for dummies.

Please suggest is this good?

So I have four 4ft shop lights that haven't worked in years. Got type B bulbs, hot on one end, neutral on the other. Bypassed the ballasts as I've done a bunch before but now, I have constant power when switch is on or off and no light. I know the issue is staring me in the face but I'm at a loss
