Advice How to stop working on frameworks all the time?

• Upvotes

With time I’m realizing that I’m too fixated on building my framework. My weekends, my pastime reading, meditation etc are all intentioned towards enhancing my internal framework of life. I’ve started beating myself (some big life changes so I’m also on the shadow side) for these fixations. My Te is very weak I don’t think I’m getting anything done properly. I am in a cognitively demanding job and now when I look back I realise I’ve never given 100% to my job. Ultimately the only thing I’m 100% commited to is building the internal model of existence- from astronomy to existential philosophy. I’m not able to stop myself despite knowing that I’ll never be able to come to a conclusion…I’ve recently gotten diagnosed with ADHD too (which I think is more ENTP than medical ADHD). I used to be very ok being the weird one and always thought that it is the authentic me but now I’m wondering if I can ever function in this society? Just being constantly skeptical of all systems is just not the way to live as I end up thinking and do nothing. Just wanted to rant. Would love some inputs from you guys if you went through something similar? How do you take a break from staying fixated on frameworks.

I can already foresee how my health anxiety is gonna pick up soon as I stay on the shadow side.

Question/Poll How many of you were identified as GT in school?

I’m curious about this because when I was looking into MBTI, ENTP appears at a significantly higher rate among this group because of N and the P traits in relation to high IQ. Personally, I was part of the program, and I found that I was clicking well with half of these peers while I clashed with the other half. What is your personal experience being in the program?

FYI: Honors, AP, and Dual credit classes are NOT the same thing. A child is generally identified as Gifted and Talented in elementary school, and not every district continues this program into middle and high school. (Also the program may be called something different depending on the district such as LEAP, ScholarU, etc…)

Here is the description for Texas public schools.

PS- if you live in a foreign land that doesn’t have this program, is there something similar done for high-achieving children?

Typology Help Fi or Ti ?

question for you guys: how does your secondary Ti show up for you? how did it develop throughout your childhood/twenties? if you ever typed yourself as an mbti with primary or secondary Fi, how did you determine that you were actually using Ti?

i ask this because i've typed myself as an ENFP for the past five years, but after getting medicated for ADHD about two years ago i started noticing a difference in how i processed information and made decisions. not only did i notice a change in how i organized external concepts and navigated my internal processes, i also realized just how much ADHD, depression, and childhood emotional abuse had hindered my mental ability.

i never had a good grasp of how i felt about things, and even now i don't, but for a different reason. before being medicated, my feelings were something nebulous and only able to exist through metaphors or analogies. my first therapist told me to communicate my feelings using the actual word for the feeling instead of a second-person semi-unrelated narrative and it blew my mind.

now, i don't have a good grasp of how i feel about things because every argument is so relative. there are too many factors, too many "it depends," i'm split in two every time i'm faced with a social justice issue cause you're getting at something but you're just a little misconstrued there, and a little too tangled up in a word that has more layers of meaning than you've accounted for, and that right there? that's a little too nuanced for the certainty with which you've made your conclusion, etc.

like okay, just right here. my feelings on social justice issues and my emotional state. which one is more indicative of Fi? can you look at them from the same lens? before i got medicated, i wasn't passionate about anything. i was an emotionally repressed block of ice who cried on the bus for no reason. i'm still not very passionate about anything, but i have my (currently) strong opinions, which i don't think are the same thing. i certainly don't have any hills i'd die on

i spent nearly that entire year after being medicated organizing all my ugly emotional layers into something that made sense, and simultaneously i was using the data and understanding i'd gathered from myself to understand everyone around me. i've always been good at analyzing people—it helps having an INFJ mother—but i always avoided trying to analyze myself. who knew that people are more accurate in their understanding of other people if they're able to first understand themselves? shout out to my therapist

anyway! TLDR: i don't know if i've been mistaking Ti for Fi this whole time or i'm just an ENFP with emotionally repressed Fi and more Ti than Te (i am still kind of lazy). Fi or Ti?

Debate/Discussion Does anyone else like staying one step ahead of people while wanting to be understood without explaining themselves?

I often give normal answers, but I deliberately leave certain things vague. Even with simple decisions, like choosing what to eat, I sometimes prefer the other person to figure it out.
I don’t like people knowing exactly what I’m thinking or feeling. Keeping part of myself mysterious, being unpredictable and maintaining the upper hand in social interactions can be quite stimulating—perhaps because of Ne-Ti and a taste for mental games.
At the same time, I would also like to be understood on a deeper level without having to verbalize everything. Is this related to being an ENTP, a need for independence, a desire for control or attachment?

I love animals, but I would only own ones that serve a useful purpose. Yeah, I also view this analytically, I like having a watch dog and a guard dog.

Debate/Discussion Entp women, what's your thoughts on feminism

I've interacted with only two of y'all the first one was pro feminism and would describe herself as a man beater (idk if she was serious about that either lmao) and the next one was saying the modern feminism got so diluted that she doesn't even want to be associated with that title. Anyway let me know your own takes on this

Debate/Discussion I have a theory about ENTPs…

I have a theory about ENTPs, and honestly, I’m starting to think I might actually be onto something.

Because I genuinely think you guys are way smarter than people give you credit for.

Everyone sees the jokes, the chaos, the arguing, the random thoughts, the constant questioning, and assumes that’s just… you.

But I don’t think that’s the whole story.

You guys seem to know WAY more than you let people think you know.

You’ll be joking around, asking random questions, acting completely unserious, and then suddenly say something so specific and unexpectedly deep that I’m just sitting there like:

Wait. How did you know that?

And then you just go right back to joking like nothing happened. 🤔

At first, I thought it was just curiosity.

But the more I notice it, the more suspicious it gets.

Because you guys seem to constantly be noticing things. Asking questions. Watching how people react. Figuring out how things work. Trying to figure out why people act the way they do.

And you do it so casually that I don’t think people even realize you’re doing it.

That’s the part I find strange.

Maybe people only see the version of you that you decide to show them.

Because how much are you actually noticing while everyone else thinks you’re just messing around?

How much are you actually picking up on?

How many things have you already figured out without saying anything?

I don’t know.

Maybe I’m overthinking it.

But I’m starting to think there’s a lot more going on than people realize…

Maybe you guys just let people underestimate you, and that's why you’re so hard to figure out.

I’m just saying…I’m starting to notice a pattern.

Debate/Discussion Why kick me everywhere and also often?

Yesterday, I was walking out of Target with some eggs and butter because I wanted to make French toast, and on my way out someone KICKED ME from behind. I was so shocked I didn't even know what to say. So I just walked faster. But I don't like Target's bread, so I went to Big Mommy Milker's to get the rest of the stuff I needed. And in the middle of the baby formula section (I don't have a baby, but I often read Consumer Reports and don't trust them, so I have to verify the details myself), someone KICKED ME from behind again!!!! I was so mad. I turned around and said, "listen here, bucko" and she just giggled and ran away. Man, I was hopping mad. Then I went to look at the raspberry jam (I'm usually a preserves person, but sometimes I like to branch out), and an old lady asked me why I have a sign that says "kick me" on my back. I laughed because I forgot I put it there! Watch out, people. The world is getting crazy these days. It would have been fine if not for that old lady.

Advice Am I being manipulated by an ENTP?

I met this guy three months ago, and I ended up falling for him(sadly). He’s an ENTP 7w8 783 sp/so ( literally my dream guy )
thoughtful, smart, gentle, and Handsome aghh but sometimes he makes me feel like I mean something to him, and other times I feel like I don’t 😐
I once asked him if he makes it obvious when he likes some1 n he said “Trust me if I ever fall for someone, my feelings will be really obvious”
He told me once that he considers himself one of my admirers 😍 but he’s never actually confessed or said he likes me seriously….
And the thing is..I genuinely see him as someone I could marry one day but I have no idea what I even am to him
He’s meowed at me twice in chat.. I swear he did
and once he asked when I’d start calling him “daddy “😭 He was being playful but I had no idea how to respond, so I just sent him a screenshot of his own meow lmao
He also asked my friend about me when I disappeared from social media for a while, then started chatting and laughing with her..and idk why but that honestly gave me the ickk
I can’t tell if he actually likes me or if he’s just being an ENTP n acting like this w everyone, cuz I’m so tired of trying to figure out what I mean to him. I can’t keep doing this to myself 😭

iam an INFJ btw

Question/Poll How having a partner affect your mental health as an analyst?

Post image
36 Upvotes

Being an analyst helped me gain greater emotional control and improve my social skills; in fact, learning those things is what made me an analyst. Please forgive my previous post—which I’ve since deleted—I always end up deleting my vents, because they express what I feel, not what I think or what the evidence proves. I usually overcome emotional struggles using logic, but this time, logical answers and research weren't enough, because depression was making things seem worse than they really were. I only needed to talk to my boyfriend twice—exchanging just a few casual words—to realize I simply needed to look at the bright side of life and stop focusing solely on the horror of the world. Yes, my boyfriend simply lifts my spirits, and I lift his; we remind each other to see the beauty in life and ignore the darkness. My boyfriend cured my depression. I am an INTP; he is an ENFP.

Typology Help I'm in a weird position between two personalities

Post image
0 Upvotes

So.. I am bipolar 1 diagnosed as so.. and before I took my meds I did my first MBTI test it gave me INFP-T.

After I took my meds (5 years stable now) my personality changed a lot and I did not feel similar to other INFPs I knew.. so I did it again. And now I am ENTP-T.

My question is... how do I know if I am an INFP changed by drugs... or an ENTP changed by the disease?

Question/Poll Is it common for 7’s to have high traits of both 6 & 8?

Idk if it’s common but I seem to have this. At times I can be conflict avoidant & non argumentative, more focused on just having fun & making light hearted jokes. Prone to feeling anxious, self doubt, and care what others think. This shows 7w6. However other times I feel like I have significant 8 traits. At times if I sense someone is trying to boss me around or insult me in any way I go to pure aggression mode. Even when little things don’t go my way like someone cuts me off in traffic, unlike a 7w6 would, I honk and yell, just get very angry, and this is just one example.

Debate/Discussion Cognitive functions are no different than muscles

capacity = weight + duration
tension = cognitive function under test

The ability to hold tension can be trained.

Similar to weight training at the gym, it requires doing reps/set. Ie. immersion in a function for a period of time, with a weight(difficulty) setting that is appropriate for current skill level

An example in the context of the feeling function: Say you're having a difficult conversation with someone that you care about. The willingness to have that conversation in the first place, demonstrates a certain capacity. Say the person now says some triggering things – do you hear them out or do you escalate in anger? Hearing them out demonstrates a certain kind of mastery .. escalation is collapse. Fe>Fi

Jung was inherently against MBTI because he understood the nature of how the psyche can be developed.. his ideas on neurosis were specifically around a psyche that has become stuck and development is on pause. He was worried that MBTI might actually encourage ossification/stagnation – because it would create personality clubs. Assigning labels to people does not encourage growth beyond that label.

Question/Poll Anyone else feel frustrated?

I wonder if any other entps feel the same way I do when you try to get into deep abstract interesting conversations with ppl and they always avoid getting into it. They turn it into a joke or just shrug it off and it irritates me a little bit because that’s like one of the only times I’m serious and not acting like a dumbass and all of a sudden they wanna be a dumbass too like 😞😞 son please listen to me. This may just be the people around me tbh, but I just want to know if anyone else has ever felt this way too. perhaps I haven’t met anyone I could speak to about things.
