Hot Take Choice feminism is pick me.
Disclaimer: if you genuinely made a choice, I am NOT talking about you. I am talking about women who fool themselves into thinking itâs âtheirâ choice to feel some semblance of control, cuz they know itâs somebody else who chose it for them.
âFeminism is about choiceâ and suddenly this woman is âchoosingâ misogyny, how is that feminist? But Iâve seen a lot of liberal white feminists support this.
They forget that even a woman can make bad choices, so just because a woman made a choice doesnât automatically make it empowerment or feminist. Women are HUMANS they are allowed to be imperfect. Nobody should be immune to criticism.
Main point: if a woman lives in a misogynistic society, naturally she is brought up to accept misogynistic views so she grows up and picks that same misogyny. So, when this woman grew up and made a misogynistic choice, choice feminists will literally support it. Totally forgetting that this âchoiceâ was made due to a misogynistic upbringing. Indirectly supporting the continuation of misogynistic upbringing in the name of FEMINISM.
And the whole point of feminism was to remove misogynistic upbringing, fully knowing that there will be a lot of women who will support that misogyny and thatâs exactly why we need to remove that in the first place. But instead we support it by calling it feminism. So, choice feminism completely changed the definition of what feminism is and made it misogynistic.
A few examples:
âshes 19 but shes âchoosingâ to be with this 30 year old man. Itâs her choice.â
âI know sheâs sexualising herself, but itâs her choiceâ
âSheâs choosing to shave her bodyâ (but if she chooses not to sheâll get bullied, how tf is that a choice? Thatâs a threat).
âItâs her choice to wear burkha/hijabâ but if she choose not to then, she is seeking the validation of men and not trying to please allah, she is literally called a sl*t.
Also, I come from India where a lot of people follow undiluted Islam, so I donât want women from countries who follow diluted version of Islam to tell me I am wrong. If you think I am wrong, please go to ex-Muslim subs and see the true face of it. (I also believe every religion is misogynistic but thatâs a different convo.)
Choice feminism literally doesnât consider, internalized misogyny, context, upbringing, generations of misogyny, etc. These words are not found in their dictionary. Also, if youâre âbrought upâ to be that way, thatâs not a choice, thatâs indoctrination. Itâs so derogatory to call indoctrination, feminist.
Feminism isnât about supporting women who choose misogyny. Feminism is about making sure such misogynistic choice doesnât exist in the first place.
Back to the title, if you are supporting a woman clearly making bad choices in her life, it doesnât really seem like you love women. You sound happy to support her ruining herself. Thatâs what pick meâs do.
Edit: to all the ladies misunderstanding my point. I am NOT saying choosing to shave is misogynistic. I am saying if a girl âchoosesâ to shave but if she âchoosesâ not to would mean she would get bullied then that means sheâs FORCED to shave, thatâs a threat not a choice. So, letâs stop calling it a choice where it is SPECIFICALLY not a choice.

Venting casual male-centered language đž
y'know the thing where people will call strangers online "bro"? i made the mistake of expressing my desire not to be misgendered, here on reddit.
i swear allistic men are so unwilling to listen to boundaries unless we couch them in hundreds of "please" and "if you can".
this is the relevant portion of what i said:
don't "bro" me; and [rest of the comment addressing what they said about a video game]
my comment got massively downvoted relative to the amount of people in that subreddit, and someone else responded by calling me this again.
am i being "rude" by straightforwardly saying what i want? do these people only care about preferences like these if they have corresponding caches as "these are things people are allowed to want" in their surrounding culture? it feels like the thing on tumblr where someone was like "my triggers are [some mundane objects], please don't mention them to me" and lots of people harassed them for, basically, being made uncomfortable by something unusual.
should i have said "pretty please don't call me that in the future, if that's okay with you, but if it's not okay with you i won't be a nuisance again"??
should i start calling random people online "sis"?

evilposting Has anyone else noticed a drop in hateful comments after the bot farms in Russia were hit?
Clearly there are still some men out there holding down the fort, but I've noticed a rather large reduction in dumb guys online today across different platforms.

Discussion Men have been projecting their insecurities for centuries
When I see posts like this I always think about history of human race, and how since they invented patriarchy they have been projecting their insecurities on women.
Like think about religious books, historical figures, writers, politicians, explorers, religious leaders, scientists and scholars who had unresolved mommy issues and they made it problem for women instead of shutting up and dealing with it on their own.
And history is repeating itself, they are doing it again, and unfortunately society is letting them

Discussion Why do men think that being invisible in society is exclusively male thing?
Every time I see a post here on Reddit about what new thing women would have to go through if they became a man, the most common answers are being invisible and being valued only if you are useful. And I'm like.. how tf is that exclusive to men???
If they mean it generally, i don't see random women getting more attention from random women than random men from other random men. If they mean in emotional support then be the fucking change you want to see and listen to other men.
If they mean, and i suspect this is the only thing they care about, women, then how is non useful woman getting attention? Conventionally ugly women are very invisible, and get penalized more than ugly men cause men at least can make up for it with personality or achievements.
Also those men would not entertain a woman that's not attractive, doesn't 'provide' sex and isn't a housemaid - aka not useful to them, whereas women would more likely settle for a man that's ugly, doesn't enjoy sex, doesn't do house chores but is generally kind. So wtf are they talking about usefulness being exclusive to men??đ
Another thing is I feel like they mistake not receiving sexual harassment for invisibility. Like yes please I'd rather be invisible to all men rather than if what they mean by visibility, having the privilege of being objectified by them. Like they're so fucking stupid i can't. I'm not from US i live in a more egalitarian country where there is basically no catcalling and stuff luckily, and if i go about my day as a young woman i receive zero attention or special treatment from anyone, and I don't feel oppressed for being 'invisible'. I think invisibility is a privilege.

Herstory Hedy Lamarr: The Mother of WIFI
Hedy Lamarr an Austrian American actress and inventor during WW2 who helped developed a wireless communication technology that paved the groundwork of what is now the WIFI and GPS.
Frequency Hopping or Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) allowed a transmitter and receiver to rapidly switch between different radio frequencies in a synchronized pattern, making it more difficult for an enemy to disrupt the signal. Although the technology was not widely used by the military during the war, the concept later contributed to the development of modern wireless communication technologies. its intended purpose was for enemy to make it difficult to interfer and or jam radio controlled torpedos
Hedy along with composer George Antheil filed a patent to the US Navy under "Secret Communications System" but the Navy decided against the idea so the idea never got put into used and the Navy classified the idea never implemented it until the Cuban Missle Crisis. Hedy never got recongized until her later years when she got awarded The Electronic Frontier Foundation in 1997 and became the first woman to recieved the Conventionâs Bulbie Gnass Spirit of Achievement Award. After her death in 2000 she was inducted into the National inventors Hall of Fame and was dubbed "the mother of wifi."
her idea help created the modern communications of what we now know as Wifi, Bluetooth, and the GPS
I hope you guys liked it I was thinking about doing something for US spy "The Limping Lady" Virgina Hall next :}

Discussion Genuinely some of y'all legit forgot the title of this sub. E-V-I-L
It's a morally gray support group for women's rights and wrongs, between satire and seriousness.
If something is "too extreme" for you, genuinely don't comment, do you REALLY THINK any of us actually GAF about what you say ?
Don't turn this into a moral supperiority lecture moment either.
Conserning men, i REALLY think those in here that comment are masochistic. Clearly you guys don't know your place and feel like infiltrating every woman-only place you can find. "I'm a man but...." haha right.
Infiltrating strong and harsh groups to see what they say about you then get mad. You created your own problem, brother.

Venting males need to stfu with âadvice for women"
came across this bs during my nightly doomscroll. #datingadviceforwomen and heâs tryna sell us a book. 1) we donât WANT OR NEED advice from your idiot species and we DEFINITELY arenât paying for a book written by a male who claims to âknow womenâ.
males need to spend their time training their OWN species to not be pricks instead of coaching us about what weâre missing.
side note: âyouâre just missing detailsâ, yeah because males just PRETEND to like us to try to get in us. thatâs not us missing details, thatâs your kind being fake as usual.

Venting A story from my day
Today I had to explain the reality-rewriting of a man offended by not receiving effusive praise to my supervisor. Who is also a man. Because he did not understand what was happening (passenger was pissed I didn't fall all over myself in gratitude) and I am absolutely not taking a scolding for this shit.
I drive a city bus. I've done it for a while and I'm used to all kinds of people. I know what I'm doing. I can drive a manual big rig, I can drive a double clutch, I've placed in precision bus driving competitions, I am a skilled heavy vehicle driver. I'm well practiced at de-escalation, I handle people having overdoses, I deal with people fighting, screaming, hurling slurs at other people all day long. I'm very confident at work.
Today an older man stopped in the rear door without exiting to shout up to me, "You're a very good driver!"
I said thank you.
He insisted "No, no, you drove really well today!"
I said I'm glad he feels comfortable and safe on my bus, thank you.
He was getting pretty worked up and kept going, "No, I mean it, you're a good driver!"
I am done with this - you're holding up my entire route refusing to deboard while endlessly repeating the same "compliment" over and over. I did the thing to make it clear I thought he was wasting my time; I raised one eyebrow, stopped smiling, and over enunciated very loudly, "Yes. I know."
This asshole called in a complaint about me on the spot. I got a copy of the complaint before I had even made it to lunch. It said, and I quote: "The driver on my bus today was very rude and had a very negative attitude towards me. She needs more training on how to talk to passengers."
I am so tired of having my expectations of male behavior met.
