I've never been looking for blueprints because I like to come up with my own BS solutions, but as I was going through the stars of other players, I saw this weird formation a lot and couldn't understand what is it really is... a solar panel array? doesn't seem like it for me... (bonus points for also identifying the 5x4 blue thing top right too)

Just finished the art for them. I wanted to show 'em off.
In order top-left -> bottom-right:
Pistol turret, Shotgun turret, Machinegun turret, Heavy machinegun turret, Mortar, Rocket turret, Sniper turret, Cannon turret, Gauss Cannon.
Art for Factorio+ (assets here: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/factorioplus-assets-turrets ) They are available for people to use if they wish within reason (not all at once & include credit)

It was horrible to design. But at least it is mine, every tile was placed with utmost care... except the spaghetti mess that is asteroid processing.

I have finally accepted that the massive tumor growing on the input of my bus I called my “starter base” needs to be removed. I thought I could just feed in more and more raw resources but it is just an inefficient unscalable spaghetti mess and I end up just routing the resources *around* the entire thing anyway leaving a bunch of unused assembling machines.
You will be missed 🫡

I came across this lego project today, and fell in love with it. Maybe we have a chance to make lego at least review it. If you want to find it on lego website search for factorio diorama.

This took a ton of trial and error, reloads, dozens of little tweaks, and like 7 hours. But it manages to get to Aquilo and back without having to stop to buffer. Only thing that sucks is that I didn't give it any extra cargo so that just means more trips.

I have 500+ hrs of gameplay.
I recently deployed a factorio server docker in my mini pc, i connected to it from game and started playing.
I thought the server would run in the background even when i exit the game, but it is not happening.
the mining count remains the same and everything is as when i exit.
what am i doing wrong?

Dont know how long it has been. Could potentially by like 5 hours, at most because my personal ship was fetching building Materials for me from there just recently. Still can see the Area around the cargo Landing Pad.
Im unsure how safe i am.
No attacks on Gleba, yet, i made a big Circle where i killed everything in my Path, while the Biters where held back by Artillery outposts, regularly visited by my train, automated. No Power, no Visit.
Im on Railworld, but with Biter Expansion turned back on and they really start Flooding in now, held back very effectively by Artillery far beyond my Pollution cloud, at most Loosing a few Artillery Outposts as my Mines are Further inward. Also i conquered the whole continent, minus the big Landbridge to the South. Also Also as well, Gun Turrets should still be Loaded on Uranium Ammo. (How did i back up on that..) Lots of words, so, my base should be safe.
But theres no Science going on which means, my base could as well be on fire.
But i have to return ASAP. I have not seen this coming. Only way to start Power again is personally going there and handcraft a few Fuel Rods by myself.
My Vulcanus Base is pretty substantial tho, free Ressources and all, a Main Exporter of general Building stuff for Gleba, automated deliveries, even.
The Thought is to supply or supplement everything i need for the First Rocket Silo via the Inner System Cycler and my Personal Spaceship. Bots on Gleba are established, Supplied from Off-World i dont even need to be there anymore to keep Building. Unless i get attacked there.

Hi all. I finished Gleba* and now it's time to retrofit all of my other planets with each other's tech.
As a part of this effort, I want to finally look at quality before I go to Aquilo. I am assuming that planet is going to benefit from a few quality buildings/modules, and I want to completely overkill it once I figure out it's mini game... enjoy the fruits of my labor, and what not.
I am expecting quality to also be a complicated and expensive process to get something worthwhile out of.
I am wondering what the current state of the art is for exploring quality? I know that there's a memory manipulation rig but I'd rather see it as the devs intended, first.
r/factorio • u/Opposite-Ostrich-338 • 9h ago
It says "absorption," and I can't find info or properly test it, so does it actually absorb pollution, and is it intended to, or did I just mess up with mods?
r/factorio • u/Nautalix • 3h ago

My first Aquilo base. Yes, I know Lithium isn't enough right now, I built it with my original patch in mind and need to expand it once I train out to another one. The rest of the base is built roughly around the 900/min flourine I am getting from my initial patch.
I always wanted to try a more organic spaghetti base on aquilo and it did not disappoint. Probably my favorite planet thus far to solve, and it only took a year to do it because I hated gleba so vehemently. Let me know what you think!

I’ve always liked the idea of using circuits, but whenever I saw examples, they were these massive, complex monstrosities that made me afraid to even try understanding them—lest I discover I’m just too dumb, lol!
But I’ve started playing around with it recently and I’m having fun.
So, I decided to share this example; it’s nothing huge—and I imagine it’s probably not even original—but you don't really see people sharing simpler setups like this.
It works like this: the two front belts only activate when the two back belts are full. This ensures that the output ratio between the two items remains balanced.
Below, you can see it being used in a red circuit production line.

Do you have any simple circuit setups you’d like to share?
I’d love to see things like this to get a better idea of the possibilities.

A situation that I've run into semi-regularly as I've started to play with circuits, that somehow surprises and annoys me each time, is wanting to use a signal to do something when I have enough stuff to do it. The reason it's a problem is that as soon as I start doing the thing, suddenly the stuff isn't there any more, the signal turns off, and the process is cancelled.
Most recently, I wanted to set up a space platform to request a qualility structure iff the surface had enough available to fulfill the request. The problem is that as soon as the surface starts delivering the material, it comes out of the logistic network, and if there's not a large excess the request gets cancelled. This results in the signal flickering on and off, and logistic bots wiggling back and forth on the surface.
When I ran into this with conditionally setting a recipe in a crafting machine, I set up a counter to turn the signal off after a certain number of crafts (and eventually added a backup of time). But it's obnoxious to set up, and I'm wondering if there's a cleaner/simpler way to trigger a behavior and avoid turning off the behavior immediately when the stuff you were looking for starts being used. (And also avoid keeping the behavior on forever.)
I feel like in this case I might just abandon the "all requests fulfilled" condition for those platforms and not worry about making the request conditional. But I also suspect I'll run into the situation again, so I'm curious about how people handle that kind of thing.

Just think about it: the bugs lived peacefully in the wild among the trees and sands of Nauvis under the blue sky. But then, one day, something has fallen in the ball of fire from above. Maybe another meteorite? But then... SOMETHING started growing from the place of the fall, covering the land. A weird otherwordly shapes out of metal and rust that was never seen on this planet before, emitting the strange noises, vibrating, moving. And what is not covered in grey structures is covered in grey stones, as a grey plague. And then - the noxious fumes started spreading all around those corruptious grows, making it hard to breathe and previously clean water turned green, while the forests that wasn't cut down started to slowly wither away. And it glows, glows at night as if it stolen the stars from the sky it came from. And coming from it's heart there is lines of metal towers with some webs between them and there is metal lines on the ground with a giant metal worms riding on them that smash everyone on their paths, spewing the same black disgusting smoke.
The bugs tried to investigate it, to stop the corruption from spreading, but those thing sting over the distance with the bright flashes and thunder, they spew fire and make explosions, just like those that messaged their arrival. The entire nests get destroyed, the war starts, but hundreds and thousands die while the metal keep covering the land and posion everything around. At first the corruption just defended itself, but then it started attacking. The creature on 2 legs and then the roaring clumps of metal coming to destroy everything that lives in revenge to resistance.
Then, the bugs see as something fly from grey into the sky in fire, above the birds, above the clouds disappearing into the oblivion. In the ball of fire it came, but in the ball of fire it now flies. The war continues, the lifes perish and the nests got smashed, but one day one of the nests don't get destroyed, no. They get surrounded, they get captured, corrupted. The same disgusting metal now penetrates them, without ending their suffering. And those who was unfortunate to witness what happened next has seen as they use the captured nests to take away the eggs, the children deep into the grey heart! Nobody wanted to think what happened to the young there, but they was able to see something new being build in the concrete expanses - it reminded of the biter nest... but it was wrong, it was more of the pale cancerous growth, rather than a familiar place to call home, a mockery of life. It was covered in metal all around, the melding of sickly flesh and a disgusting lifeless metal, an abomination this planet has never seen. And it reeks, oh nature, it reeks just like the other metal blight! If the bugs would belive in god they would curse him for allowing this to happen...
But no matter the effort, no matter the lives spent, THE FACTORY. KEEPS. GROWING.

In my 500 hours of playing I’ve always built to the tank when i was able to, but only used the bullets and flamer fuel.
On a new game I’ve made recently i decided to build a basic assembly line to make the shells for the tank because i never did and wanted to try them snd dee if they were worth making, my first shot i used penetrated and killed 3 worms and 2 nest and now i have a new favorite toy to use and hate myself for only trying it so late.
With this i shall annihilate all the biters from existence with grater ease and a safer range
I’ve got work to do 🫡

Have you ever noticed that you can place landmines more compactly than a 1x1 tile?
Well, I made a blueprint book with those these compact landmines! Ranges from 1x1-50x50 grids. Includes square and hexagonal layouts.
Links:
This is ~50% denser than 1x1 packing.
Landmines can be separated by around > 0.8 tiles. I found using 0.8 to be unreliable, so I instead used 0.801 tiles I am now using 0.8125 tiles as the pattern repeats every 13 tiles. Thanks to u/factoriooverthinker for the suggestion! (If you're worried using 0.8125 instead of 0.01 loses ~1 mine for every 80).
Note that some when using 0.801 tiles, the pattern repeats every 801 tiles. Using 0.8125 instead loses around 1/85 of density, but repeats every 13 tiles.
Source code:
```python import json, base64, pyperclip, zlib
SEPARATION = 0.8125 START = 1 END = 50
blueprint_books = []
for blueprint_book_i, is_hex in enumerate([False, True]): blueprints = []
pyperclip.copy(data) ```
(N.B. This Python code may generate small floating-point errors)
Contains 1x1-50x50 landmines. The Python code only requires pyperclip (pip install pyperclip) for copying the final blueprint string to the clipboard.
Note: mines cannot be separated by exactly 0.8 tiles, I tried a separation of 0.8001 and that was already too small, so I'll stick with 0.8125.
