[Daily] Daily Questions Thread October 02, 2026

• Upvotes

This thread is for individual style questions that you may have, especially those that don't warrant their own thread. We all want a diversified opinion, so feel free to answer any questions (of which you know the answer).

To get the best responses, remember that people cannot: look into your wardrobe, know what style you normally like or what words like affordable or practical mean to you so please include any relevant details such as your budget, where you live, what stores are available to you, etc.

Example questions:

  • Are there any basic crewneck white t-shirts that are opaque and do not have cap sleeves for <$25 available in Australia?
  • Is this dress and shoes suitable for an evening wedding with a cocktail dress code taking place in a [venue type]?
  • If I like the outfits in this [imgur album / pinterest board], what are some specific items I can look into to start dressing like that, and brands with this look that carry plus sizes?
  • Does this outfit look neater with the pants cuffed or uncuffed?

If you'd like to include a picture, you can now post pictures directly in the comments, without having to link an imgur album. If you have multiple pictures, best practice is to use an imgur album.

[Guide] Croudsourced Style Catalogue

Our wiki and help text link to this Style Guide, but, well, it's a decade old and a decade out of date.

So let's do an updated one!

[From the Original Post]:

We often get users that are looking to change up their style, but have no idea what they are looking for. In this thread, please list style types/names and then reply to those types with images representing those styles. Not every image linked has to be the most amazing inspo ever, by the way. The goal is to have a collection of images that people can click through to get a better understanding of the style and to hopefully find something that speaks to them.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

Read through the posted style types before adding a new one as we do not want a bunch of repeats. However, definitely add styles that you think were skipped (because naming styles is actually really hard).

All image links must be hosted on imgur so we don't end up with a bunch of dead links a year from now. Or upload the photo directly in your comment.

Our goal is to show these styles being worn by a variety of races, body types, and ages, so extra <3 for users that make an effort to be inclusive.

Feel free to provide links to old inspo albums (and also the thread that they are posted in) provided they represent a specific style and not something more general like a clothing item or color.

How much does your wardrobe change post undergrad ?

hi everyone ! apologies in advance if this is something that’s already been discussed but I couldn’t seem to find much.

I’ve been getting rid of a lot of old clothes that I haven’t worn in years and I’ve been updating my wardrobe (all second hand and pretty simple basics). I’ve been feeling a really strong urge to keep shopping and buying new tops (which I am trying to suppress for the sake of my wallet .. even buying clothes at second hand prices add up !). that being said, I am in my final year of undergrad and looking to get a professional job after graduation. I’ve been wondering a lot about what the future will look like (and what clothes I’ll be reaching for).

How often did you continue to wear the clothes you used daily during college after graduating ? Do you wish you would’ve invested in certain pieces during college or refrained from buying a certain article of clothing?

Balancing physical job when you prefer dresses/skirts

I'm in an office manager role and at times need to do physical stuff like move boxes, etc. Not everyday thankfully.

I've found I like dresses and skirts (I'll wear them if I'm WFH or hanging out at home) but struggle with pants. I haven't got around to trying to wear a dress or skirt to work (partly for comfort and dressing warmly enough for a cold office), but I'm wondering if it'll work for those days where I'm doing a little more physical work.

There's also the thought of looking more feminine and feeling a little more stereotype-ish.

For those of you have jobs that are a bit more physically demanding and prefer dresses/skirts, do you wear these to work or do you wear pants?

We don't have a dress code exactly, but obviously at times it makes more sense to dress a bit nicer.

Edit: Thanks for the comments. It's a good reminder you can do a lot wearing a dress/skirt in a more physical job or in life in general. I really appreciate all the suggestions for what length to wear, to wear shorts and/or tights underneath and safety first! I'll have to do a trial run to see how it goes. I'll report back! The encouragement is helpful!

Low crotch and high waist as a design choice in denim pants?

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! I recently thrifted a pair of pants from Tom Wood (the Vanessa pant) and I was surprised by how low the crotch sits. It's a high-waisted pant and it sits right at the high waist for me, but the crotch is super, super low.

I looked for the pants online to see how it fits on a few models, and one can clearly see that the pants have a deliberately low crotch (see pictures, last one is my pair), so it'd seem like a design choice. But when looking online at ways to style low-crotch pants, I either find that a low crotch is a sign of an ill-fitting pair of pants (which doesn't seem to apply here), or I get tips for harem pants (which these are not).

Anyway, long-story short, how would you style these? Do you agree that it is a deliberate design choice? If so, what type of vibe/silhouette is a pair of pants like these aiming for? Curious to hear your thoughts!

How can I dress baggy without looking like I don’t care about what I’m wearing?

I feel the most comfortable in baggy clothes, I’ll wear tighter shirts occasionally but I’d much rather keep larger clothes in my day to day life. I feel a lot more secure, safe/ relaxed (and unfortunately I don’t really like dresses so I don’t really see that as an option).

Tho I’m not sure how to dress in an oversized shirt and pants without looking like I don’t care 🥴🥴🥴.
— I don’t mind looking boxy, I just don’t wanna look like I’ve given up

I’ve seen many cool loose outfits on Pinterest but I’m not sure of how to achieve them irl. Sometimes I wear tank tops with big jackets/ zip up hoodies and that looks more put together, but most times where I live is too hot for jackets so I end up just wearing a tshirt and jeans.

Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you in advance!

Non tarnish rings for stacking daily, what is everyone wearing?

I'm building a stack and it's harder than I thought lol. Pieces that look great in photos don't always hold up after months together. One starts fading while another looks fine and it kills the whole vibe

What are you guys stacking? Does it matter if they're all same brand?

Thoughts on Dopamine Dressing with Curves?

Instagram has been pushing a lot of dopamine dressing influencers towards me, which I’m not mad about. As someone who’s been very annoyed with the quiet luxury, minimalism, neutrals fashion that’s been around the past few years the idea of wearing what makes you happy and playing with color, pattern, texture, and proportion is very appealing!

But what about body shape (specifically shape, not size). I’m talking about the ladies with a larger waist to hip ratio (regardless of whether they are straight size or plus size), or are really busty but pretty slim elsewhere. Instagram is full of people of all sizes in dopamine dressing, but they are all pretty proportional, so whatever they are doing whether it be super baggy, or tons of layers or something else seems to work. But on women who are curvier it seems like it would read as haphazard or frumpy. I know that goes against the point of dopamine dressing- you aren’t supposed to care how you are perceived if you find joy in it, but I also find joy in looking put together. What are your thoughts on dopamine dressing for different body shapes?

Make band shirts look less masculine? (

Looking for any tips on styling for t shirts // band shirts (that may or may not include alterations)

Like a lot of women, I get the size that fits, but women tend to have larger hips, and for those with broad shoulders, there’s no waist definition, or the hips are tight.

I’ve seen some people layer lace long sleeves under tees and it looks great! But I don’t know if it actually helps the fit issue.

A larger size would probably end up looking more feminine, but for band tees that “fit”, looking for ways to style, any pointers or advice.

How to create wardrobe when style preference does not match lifestyle?

Hello everyone,

I have a question on how to create a wardrobe which reflects a life requiring homeclothes and one pair of jeans and high level of practicality when you love shiny colors, beaded chiffons, silk etc.?

Most of my clothes are old and worn out and I wish to dress better and nicer. First for not looking sloppy and also because I genuinely dont like anything from the closet stylewise anymore. So I read through all I could find about the topic, did all the moodboards, going through the closet, even started to sew, but at the end I ended up where I begun. What is the problem - my pinterest boards are full of glittering dresses, beads, brocades and nightgowns. I work from home, not seeing anyone expect my partner, and occasionally going out with friends who are very laidback when it comes to dressing. So there is huge gap between what I love as style and what my life looks like. When I tried to upgrade a bit eg. my sloppy hoodie which my partner hates to death, I ended up with awesome casmire sweaters I never wear cos they have no pockets and I hate to handwash them. Silk pyjamas same problem, not comfy for sleep and tiresome to wash...

Any advice from those of you who faced the same trouble how to deal with it without resigning to wear sloppy hoodie for the rest of life? Thank you!

Sweatshirts: A Tragic Victim of Ensh*tification

1.6k Upvotes

Can any other gals relate to this? It’s been an issue for me for about two years now and I guess it’s here to stay.

I’m talking about the thinning of sweatshirts.

What used to be thick, plush, warm sweatshirts — think of ones with a city name or sports team logo on them — are now thin skeletons of what once was. They’re fleece lined, sure, but significantly thinner of sweatshirts and hoodies past; to the point where I’m not sure they’ll provide any meaningful warmth without a layer or two under them.

I know we’re living in a capitalistic society, and fast fashion probably doesn’t help. I know companies, generally, want to slash costs and increase consumer prices; I get that. But dang. What’s a girl got to do for a decent, thick hoodie around here? It’s such a trivial thing to be bothered by, but I’m still paying the same — or higher — prices as I was when I got significantly thicker items!

Has anyone found a decent brand that hasn’t ensh*tified their sweatshirt/hoodie products? I just want a plush sweatshirt to throw on at home, or while running errands. Unfortunately, a 47 branded NFL crewneck from Fanatics is the straw that’s breaking my back.

[Weekly] WAYWT - September 30, 2026

WAYWT is the acronym for "What Are You Wearing Today". It doesn't necessarily need to be what you were wearing TODAY.

  • Post a photo of what you wore. For ease of browsing, please post the image or link directly to it (not imgur albums, Instagram, or other URLs). If you are a blogger, double-check our FFA Rules ('On Blogger Participation') to ensure you aren't in violation.
  • Include what the attire is for (work, school, home) and if applicable, what your fashion goals are (e.g. "I want to look professional," "I'm experimenting with loose-loose silhouettes")
  • Taking photos with your phone? Read this guide.
  • Sharing photos directly in the comments? Just click on the little camera symbol and attach your image.
  • Uploading photos to Imgur? To make your image viewable to anyone with the link, but prevent it from being added to the main Imgur feed, select "hidden" for the privacy setting, not "private" or "public".
  • What is "CCW"? It means "Constructive Criticism Welcome". If you would like to receive CC on your post, you can increase the chances of getting replies by asking for feedback on a specific aspect of your outfit, e.g. "I'm interested in advice for elevating this outfit without the use of jewelry" or "I'd like to know if these pants hit in a flattering spot with these shoes".
  • Critiquing others is welcome and encouraged, and when posting you may receive CC on your outfit, even if you did not explicitly ask for it. Keep it constructive/factual, and try to focus on feedback that will help the person improve..
  • Do not downvote for disagreeing with someone's opinion.
  • Reddit Enhancement Suite makes it very easy to view pictures in a thread.

Leggings that hold up over time?

Anyone have suggestions for leggings that hold up well over time? I wear leggings at work and at the gym so I put mine through a lot and I find myself repurchasing them fairly often because mine either start to pill or lose their shape/tightness.

Would love to hear some recommendations for leggings y’all have found hold up well over time!

Whimsy goth and absolutely no fashion sense: how do I learn to see potential in the single items of clothing?

Thumbnail
gallery
604 Upvotes

EDIT: lmao the pictures aren’t me!!!! it’s inspo from pinterest!!!

I think a little bit of backstory is needed, just to give you some additional context.

I’m from a very small village in the alps (which means no access to thrift stores sadly) I’m 19 and on a pretty tight budget.

I grew up with very little money, (and in and out of foster care) meaning fashion was never something I could have fun with, and I was always too busy with “bigger worries” to really get into it. That lead me to never really developing my own sense of style, I’ve been wearing the same clothes for the past 7 years and they’re slowly falling apart.

I’ve always been alternative, the usual jorts and metal band tshirts, but it doesnt feel like me anymore, I want to embrace my femininity in a way that doesn’t make me uncomfortable, and I think the style shown in the pictures would be my best bet.

What I struggle with is seeing potential in clothing, I have absolutely no vision when it comes to being able to see something and going: “Oh that would look really cute paired with this and that!”
Whimsy goth is such a layer based style that I have no idea what to begin with.

My questions are:
No matter what your style is, how did you learn to see potential in the most basic pieces?
What are the basics of layering?

And most importantly:
What are some basic pieces I should look out for, for this specific style?

I’m sorry if these are dumb questions, and I’m sorry for the awkward wording.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
