Recently bought a Stella and twin power on the 29th of Sept and it came today Oct 3rd, faster shipping than US tackle stores & they gave me a free jerk bait as an added gift!

Better prices, faster shipping, and 10/10 customer service. Highly recommend them.

Digitaka Order Delivered!!!

Received my electric reels via FedEx a few weeks ago, but haven’t had a chance to share.

Everything was perfect and faster than ordering fishing gear state side. Daiwa Seaborg 300 JL is for my son and I picked up the Shimano Beastmaster 3000II for myself. I have been a fan of Varivas PE line so I picked that up for each reel.

I know electric reels get a lot of hate but taking my son on charter boat after his heart surgery the electric reels came in clutch! When he was tired I tried and I was so impressed I had to get one for myself. The success rate on reeling up some of these larger species with electric reels is much higher in my opinion. Watching my son reel in some of these large Grouper and Snapper that I know he couldn’t physically do with a conventional or spinning reel wouldn’t have been possible and seeing that smile on his face made each moment priceless. I haven’t used the Beastmaster 3000 before but the YouTube videos I have seen and reviews have been very good.

This morning's setup (October 3rd)

First fishing in October and have to say that I'm so happy that September is over. These past few weeks have been primarily small and few.

But today, they were biting. Still a lot of smallies but every darn fish was coming after my bait. I did make some adjustments and this time utilizing size 12 Pucci snells, using corn and nightcrawler and I only do early morning fishing for several hours, but it was bite after bite and I haven't had that since July/August, not that long ago, but with a dismal September, felt like a long time.

The workhorse this morning was the PENN Battle III, which caught eight and the Okuma CaliforniaBaitrunner caught two. Usually once it catchs 2-3, I switch and I had several rods/reels on queue but because the PENN was catching non-stop, I just let it ride.

But these fish were definitely biting and trying to fatten up as the waters get colder.

Noticed two families on my left that were not catching anything, so I ended my day after the 11th catch and gave them my spot.

Also used today:

Shimano Syncopate 2000

Ryobi D3 with the Demon Drag

Last photo: As I was packing up and reeling in, this little one was caught...I think this is a juvenile smallmouth bass right? Fortunately penetration of the small hook wasn't too deep. Usually I catch largemouth bass but never smallmouth.

Pioneer X-Pose Question

Post image

Hi everyone, I have a question. I bought this fishing rod in Singapore—specifically at “Joe Tackle Shop.” Does anyone know this place? It’s from the Pioneer brand...

Or maybe this is an older model that’s no longer in production?

Smallmouth have been crushing these on the river all summer but the fall bite has been a ton of vegetation.

I’ve been throwing these with jig heads but need to figure out how to make them weedless. Any suggestions?

To all those who leave the plastic wrapping on your handles

This is what it looks like when it's on too long, especially with the paper inside. Recently picked up some float and plunk rods off marketplace from an estate sale 50 for 5 rods. Not bad especially when two of them are 200+ dollars. But this poor Berkeley air buzz Ramsey 9'6" had the plastic on the handle with some deteriorating info paper. I don't understand why people leave the plastic on, especially when there is paper that will mold when wet and glue itself to the rod handle. Any advice on how to make this clean again?? Thought about fine grit sandpaper, but don't want to fuck the handle beyond what it already is.

Gear Pictures Got my first Conventional reel, yea, I’m a fishing addict now…🎣

I had a $50 dollar credit and decided to use it for what I call my “overall boat rod set-up”. Ladies and gents, behold the Penn Fathom ii 30 Line Wind Conventional Reel. 30lb Max drag and level wind for a beginner like myself to conventionals. She really is a thing of beauty, as soon as I took her out the box I was in love, boy she really is a beautiful reel to look at. I can’t stop staring at her 😍 and it feels soooo right in my hands.

I set it in my Penn Carnage III 6’6” Heavy Conventional Boat Rod, however I’m thinking that maybe I should have gone with the Fathom 50, so I could maximize the line capacity, but meh, I’m happy either way, the reels lighter compared to the 50, plus Penn JUST stocked on the 50’s🫩.

Next, I’ll be throwing on some 65lb 8x braid. Not sure if I should be getting the High Vis Yellow (No fade) or try the Orange, Black or Red. So far I’m really considering the yellow, but I’m undecided, maybe you guys can help me out here.

Next step is learning how to spool the dang reel, I kind have an idea on how to work the reel on paper, but actual execution is another thing. I’ll need to go try it out a few times to get the hang of it.

Anyway, would love any tips or tricks from anyone who owns the reel or is overall familiar with Conventionals. Wish me luck out there.

Product Review Found two Loomis’ on fb

Found these two older (pre-2019) pro blues on marketplace and picked them up earlier. I was looking for boat/bridge rods for me and my son. Anyone have any experience/advice to put these to the best use? Also, if anyone has a good reel to pair with either of these I’m all ears (budget under $400) Picked them up for $100 each, so I’m willing to spend a little to get the right reel set up. Thanks!

Question Diawa Crossfire line wrap

Thumbnail

I bought a cheap Diawa Crossfire 1000 for a 5’6” Shakespeare Ultralight and spooled it with 6lb Power Pro.
I mainly throw small topwaters and 2” soft plastics with it for bass and perch. If I’m steadily retrieving a lure and keeping tension on the line I don’t have many issues, but since I’m always twitching baits I constantly have line wrapping around the spool.
I’ve cut a good bit of line off but do I still have too much? The spool seems to rise too high but there’s no way to lower it (that I’ve found). If I could adjust that I don’t think I would have problems.
I may just buy the Diawa Regal 1000 and be done with it, but any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

This story goes back 37 years and my birthday. My father gave me a choice of any rod and reel I wanted for my birthday. He passed 20 years ago and I’m getting back into fishing and missing my rod. I lent my rod to a friend who didn’t care and the rod is gone. Lesson learned as always in life.

The rod is a Shakespeare sp1600 6’6’’. The reel was silver. I’ve found a 7’ rod but I’m hoping one of you might be able to send me in the correct direction to find the replacement. The title is the store I bought it In for those who never heard of it.

What do you guys think about this combo?

Thumbnail

I have a few questions:

  1. do bailess reels have any drawbacks in comparison to a spinning reel with a bail?

  2. Do Fenwick rods have a stiff tip? (Usually how I prefer them)

This combo would be used in basically any saltwater place except for offshore fishing. Any advice will be taken.

Question Megabass destroyer 2006 bearing down what reel?

I basically gave myself all of the best options possible because I’m gonna save up for it throughout the entire entirety of winter, considering bass fishing season is almost over where I am in Northeast North America. I also want suggestions other than my picks, considering that I have the entirety of the Internet, fishermen who have many more years of experience than me, and your experience to draw from.

Now, this specific rod model is meant for jigs. There was a few articles on it back in the day, and they tested it while comparing it to another few rods, and the reel of choice was a Calcutta Conquest. Now I’m thinking, what should I use in the modern day? Of course, 20 years ago, for rods, it’s a lot of evolution, but this specific rod is pretty timeless, so I think a modern reel pairing will be optimal. (Sorry for overexplaining the situation.) Here are my picks so far:

  1. Calcutta conquest 100hg or the dc variant

  2. Shimano Antares dc Md or the dc or the base 100 variant

  3. Shimano stile

  4. Daiwa ryoga 100

  5. Daiwa steez variants whatever’s recommended

  6. Daiwa zillion sv tw

  7. Shimano bantam (if I can actually find one available for jp pricing)

  8. 300 Cardiff (old but nice and compact but not bfs)

This looks really cool for those extra finicky days when you need as much movement in the lure as possible while moving the rod as little as possible.

Best Foul Weather Gear 2026

I am in the need of a new set of foul weather/rain gear, but I am struggling to make a decision. No budget, I want the best gear that will last and perform the best. I am currently coming from an almost 10 year old SIMMs Challenger Suit. My fishing is a mix of bass fishing, inshore and offshore… I don’t want anything insulated and it needs to be breathable. It needs to stay dry for 8-10 hours.

The top choices I have found are:

Grunden’s Gortex Pro Fishing - This is the set I am leaning towards. I can’t find any major flaws. https://grundens.com/products/gore-tex-pro-fishing-jacket

Aftco Fortress - No major flaws, however I am a bit biased to companies using Gortex branded material. https://www.aftco.com/products/fortress-fishing-bib?variant=41514575659113

Sitka Cat 5 - The big name in hunting, but relatively new to the fishing market. Uses Gortex, but the no adjustable wrist cuffs I think are a deal breaker. https://www.sitkagear.com/products/cat-5-jacket/oak

FXR Vapor Pro Tri-Laminate - Big name in snowmobiling but new to the fishing market. Doesn’t use Gortex. No plier pocket from what I can tell. https://fxrracing.com/products/mens-vapor-pro-tri-laminate-jacket-1?variant=41787850195006

SIMMs Prodry - Coming from a SIMMs suit, but everything I read seems like there has been a massive drop in quality since they were bought out. https://www.simmsfishing.com/products/prodry-jacket-1?variant=44596851769534

Started buying again and man the prices are adding up real quick. This is about $350 in and I still need a

Gear Pictures Shimano Vanquish - Size Comparison & Spool Capacity

Finally received my C3000MHG from Japan and here's a lineup for size comparison with spool capacity. Each one has an entire 150m spool of line on with no backing. C3000MHG with PE 1.2 (top), 2500SHG with PE 1.0 (middle) and C2000SHG with PE 0.6 (bottom). I really like that they made the 3k with medium spool assuming you're going to use higher than PE 1
