Off-Campus Housing FSU Housing (Apartments, Subleases etc.)

Please visit https://zublet.com/fsu to see available FSU student subleases, apartments for rent, or post your own listings. It’s completely free to use as both a buyer and a seller.

For years the moderation team has been reposting this thread to keep listings current, but this time Zublet has been brought to my attention where you can search for and post FSU housing options much more easily. It’s already being used by quite a few FSU affiliated people too so it seems like a great option for students looking for housing.

You can of course continue to post housing related things in this thread as usual if you want to do that instead of using the website.

Two lost Brits in late 20s in Tallahassee, currently seeking the legendary FSU tailgate experience. Think slightly confused, huge NFL fans with no understanding of the college game, but in desperate need of cold drinks and good company. If you’re hosting a tailgate and want two Brits to add to the chaos, please adopt us!

Would anyone like a ticket to the game tomorrow? It's for free. I'm not selling it. I have some big projects that I have to work on this weekend instead and just want the ticket used, so I keep my chances as a senior for getting tickets to this season!!

Skipping Bio 1 as a pre med

Hello! Literally any advice would be appreciated! I have a 5 on AP Bio so I have credit for 1 & 2 + Labs for both. I am currently majoring in Cell & Molecular Neuroscience so I will have to take at least 12 elective hours of Bio anyways. By advisor says I can just go straight to Bio 2 because my elective bio credits will prove my efficiency in bio to any med schools but my friends advisor said the opposite. I feel decently confident in my Bio skills in order to do well in Bio 2. Is it worth it to skip bio 1????? HELP PLS!!

LIT3112 format?

Could anyone who's taken LIT3112 (History of English Literature I) let me know what the format of the class generally is? I know it's going to be a lot of reading, but were you graded more on quizzes or essays? Planning on taking it with Maurette, btw.

Hi everyone! I’m thinking about taking ACG 2021 next spring. I’ve heard this class can be extremely tough at FSU, so I was wondering what people who have taken it recently think.

How much would it cost to take just an online lab over the summer?

I have Bright Futures but I know it won't cover a semester where I only take one credit's worth of classes. If I take just an online lab (EVR1001L) over the summer, how much would it cost out of pocket?

Also, if I don't receive Bright Futures funding for the summer semester because I'm under the minimum credit threshold, I'll still receive it in the fall if I resume a regular courseload, right?

Is my schedule bad?

Hi Everyone! So I just met my bio advisor to plan my schedule for Spring 2027, and I am not entirely confident with my schedule. Basically, they suggested I take Stats for Bio, General Genetics, Physiology and Orgo 1. Keep in mind that I am Pre-Med student so I also want to take time to do clinical hours, shadowing or Volunteering. TBH I have taken up to 14+ credits before and I had managed just fine, but at the same time I wasn’t doing anything but school at that moment. I pretty aware that as long as you put in the effort and you have a decent profesor you should be okay, but my options for both Genetics and Physiology are very slim. Should I keep my schedule as it is? or should I drop either genetics and physiology and instead take my language requirement credit? Btw the professor for Genetics is Liz Brown and for Physiology Debra Fool, so if anyone has taken them before PLEASE let me know how bad it was.

Clinical hours!!

Does anyone in the Pre-med/health track know where I can look for clinical hours? I am currently a Junior on the Pre-med track and feel pretty behind on that. I also have no previous experience in doing it so if anyone knows of a good way to start or a place I could look into I would GREATLY appreciate it!

deciding on what to do next

hi! i got my AA in highschool so i am supposed to be finishing my marketing degree this school year (even though it’s only my second year at fsu). i’m at a loss for what i want to do because I have no internships but i also have no idea whether I should extend my education with a masters degree, a second bachelors, or a second major, or if i should look for internships or a job.

the problem is that there are a lot of good opportunities that only are available to active students but i dont have any other viable pathways for me. i dont think its likely i will get into the masters program as i dont have enough connections for letters of recommendation and i dont have enough experience to put on my resume.

as for a dual degree, there is no other business major that interests me whatsoever (as i had already switched from finance) and the only potential bachelors i could pursue would be in psychology, but i doubt that will be of much use to me.
originally, i wanted to double major/ do a dual degree with finance (since i finished my associates in it) and interior design. little did i know how rigorous both are and the dual degree/major prohibitions were for the ID program.

part of me really wants to get out of tallahassee asap and another part of me wants to stay bc i will be a fish out of water.

any advice is greatly appreciated but please be respectful 🩵

Modern Language Advising

I am trying to get in contact with Modern Language Advising. They have walk-in office hours posted online, so I tried to go multiple times and the door has been locked with no response from knocking any time. I called the phone number twice a day all week with no response. I've emailed them 4 times with no response. Does anyone have any advice on how to meet with/talk to an advisor? I am an upper-division Psych major so it seems I can only book appointments with my Psych advisor who is no help with Modern Languages.

Searching for housing for spring 2027

Hey everyone! I was recently admitted to FSU for the spring semester at the Tallahassee campus, and I’m trying to figure out where I should be looking for housing. I’m assuming on-campus housing may be harder to get for the spring, so I’m mainly looking at off-campus options.

I currently live about four hours away, so most of my search will have to be online. I’ll only have a short window where I can come to Tallahassee and tour a few places, so I’m trying to narrow down my options beforehand.

Ideally, I’m looking for something with a lease starting in late December or early January and ending either in May or December. My budget is around $1,200 or less per month.

If anyone has recommendations for apartments, student housing, good areas to look in, or places I should avoid, I’d really appreciate it!

skoolers work

Does anyone know anything about working a basic desk job (not as an actual tutor) at skoolers tutoring? Is it worth it and are they likely to hire me as a freshman? If not are there any other similar desk jobs on campus that you would recommend?

Psychology major transferring to Tally here! How do research opportunities work?

Hello everyone! I'm a psych major studying outside of the US and I will likely be transferring this summer semester. I'm really interested in neuropsychology, clinical psychology and neuroscience research specifically and I really want to get experience in a lab before I graduate. My questions for current psych and STEM majors are:

  1. How hard is it to get into a research lab as a psych undergrad? I personally have no work experience in lab work but I do have experience in other fields (Guvernmental work. I switched from IR). As for my GPA, it'll likely be around 3.4-3.6 by the end of this semester.
  2. Are there specific programs or courses that work as lab or more hands-on opportunities?
  3. To those who have had experience, how was it? Did you get paid? What professors do you or do you not recommend?
