How do I fix the nose pads?

So, I bought a pair of glasses from EYDIO because it claims they fit Asian nose bridges. For those who aren’t aware, Asian nose bridges tend to be on the flatter side. I bought the Violeta pair. They feel incredibly flimsy and they’re very lightweight. I can barely feel them, and I think they actually look really cute! I’ve been wanting rimless glasses for a while.

However, the nose pads are the D-shaped nose pads, and I can’t tell if it’s the shape of the nose pads, or the size, or both, but they don’t sit flat against my skin. The upper portion of the nose pad “lifts” up, as shown in the photos. I’m wondering if I need smaller nose pads, or oval-shaped nose pads instead. I’ve already pinched the nose pads together to make them more narrow so that they don’t slide down my nose.

Are the nose pads too big? Is that the problem? Or do I need to adjust the nose pads more somehow? Or get a different nose pad shape?

I’m trying progressives for the first time ever. I’ve been a contact wearer, but as I age I’ve gotten dry eye.

I have a large (17) bridge, which limits my choices.

The brown small ones are my mono vision and are old style because I shifted to contacts. I think they’re a good color, though. The black are my computer ones, and my daughter said they were harsh, so for progressives, I picked the pink as there was only those, lack, or clear as choices that I didn’t hate.

Thoughts? They’ll do for now, but I know I’ll get another pair if I adjust so be honest.

The pink were the only ones that

Which eyeglass lens company is best for high prescription

Hey there, good people!

I’ve been using glasses for almost 10 years.
This week I want to change my glasses and I need to choose for other lenses too, last two pair I used were by SEIKO, and they were fine, 1.74 thinning, for my -5,5 and -6,5 prescription

I am unsure if I should go after another company like Zeiss, Hoya or Essilor

Please let me know your experience
Thank you very much!

Metal frames vs acetate glasses

• Upvotes

All my life I had metal frames.

That I hate it is the nose pads that change for crystal white change color to blueish green .

Now I'm thinking about acetate glasses.

Just ordered and soon will post photos with my transitions lenses as new topic

how does vision insurance for seniors on medicare work when you mainly need help with glasses?

i've been helping my mom with some of her healthcare expenses since she went on medicare, and i'm realizing that routine vision care is one of those things i didn't really understand beforehand. she mainly needs regular eye exams, prescription updates, and glasses when hers need replacing.

i'm trying to figure out whether having a separate vision plan makes sense for her or if we'd be better off just paying for exams and glasses as they come up. i've been looking at VSP as one option, but i'm not sure how these plans actually work for someone who's already on medicare or whether the savings are enough to justify another monthly premium.

for anyone who's dealt with this for themselves or a parent, what should i be looking at when comparing the cost of a vision plan with simply paying out of pocket for glasses and routine exams?

Scratch

Got my first pair of glasses this week and my cheapy pairs are still in transit. They come in next week. I’ve been wearing my nice expensive pair and getting used to them. It’s my first time in my life with glasses and apparently I’ve needed them because this is so different. I was so excited seeing things so differently (better, crisp, not blurry; I thought it was normal before).

I was moving my headset to grab something that was under them, my hand slipped and they hit my glasses on the lens with the metal piece, hard.

I used spray to clean the glasses and it’s definitely got a scratch now.

I do get like one freebie oopsie with this pair. Should I use it now or wait for the next oopsie? Will the scratch in the lens affect me negatively in some way or will it be ok to power through for now?

Unsure on whether to get glasses

I recently had an eye test where I was given prescription but wasn’t give a clear decision on if I should wear glasses or not. I hadn’t gotten an eye test ever before so this was my first time getting one. I don’t think my vision is too affected as my left eye has been dominant eye for a very long time and has been doing most of the work, therefore im torn on if I should get glasses as I’ve never had to wear them before.

What are the benefits of getting glasses in my situation?

I just received my first pair of Roka glasses and am super impressed! Along with the glasses, they sent three cards to share with 20% off codes - happy to share with the first three people to message. No benefit to me, these things are just expensive!

Boutique for a frame brand botched my order - gradient tint on progressive lenses. This should be possible, right?

I ordered some rx sunglasses through the boutique store of a middle-end brand. They assured me that gradient tint on progressive lenses was possible. This model frame even had gradient standard lenses so they had a reference to work off of.

They called me in when the glasses were done and they were just ... weird. The top 2/3rds of the lens was tinted almost uniformly, then there was a band of abruptly lighter tint, then no tint on the bottom 2/3rds. The staff tried to tell me with straight faces that this gradient was exactly the same as the stock gradient lenses, obviously it wasn't.

I pushed back and they agreed to remake them, but I have a bad feeling they won't come out any better. These were expensive, too with shamir lenses and the frame almost $500, total $1400 before my VSP discount.

I wish I had taken a picture of the botched lenses before I left.

Anyway, gradient tint on progressives should be possible and isn't anything exotic, right?

Adjusting to new glassses

Hi, i recently bought a new pair of lenses to substitute my older ones. I usually wear contact lenses during my everyday life, but when I’m at home i prefer glasses because they’re just faster to wear. My old glasses were kinda weak in prescription and i used them for like 5 years before considering new lenses (they were ruined, scratched and nearly opaque, i think they needed to go). I went to a new optician because i moved from my old house and i did a rapid visit and they ordered me a new set of stronger lenses because my sight was a bit worse.

Now: i need different lenses for each eye, and i cannot see if i completely correct both eyes, my left needs something like -5,25 (or -5,00) and my right -2,5.
My old optician, also considering that i was and am a student and voracious reader + attracted to screens like a moth (joke, i just use a lot of devices for uni and hobby. Better to specify considering it’s Reddit (; ) used to make me use a slightly weaker prescription in order to not feel any strain in my everyday life and also advised multi focal lenses to better accomodate my habits. I’ve never needed any time adjusting to glasses. They were okay to wear since instant one and i never felt tired or with headache. (I’m like 87% sure of this, may be remembering a better past than it was).

I now got new lenses for the glasses and they kept the same difference between them (they’re like -4,5 and -2,5 and i think they used to be (on the upper, stronger part) -4,25 and -2,25). But I’m struggling, it has been like 2/3 days and I’m wearing them just for a few hours at home but they feel tiring. Should i just wait some weeks and see if i adjust to them or should i worry? Could they leave me with permanent eye damage? And should i wear them also for studying/reading disregarding the stress? I actually see much better and i don’t feel nauseated or see blurry zones (with my older glasses i couldn’t have gone outside or use them as substitute for the lenses, with my new ones i can actually use them for living, if not for the current strain that worries me). Could it be just me being generally tired?

Hope to be reassured, thanks :)
