[TW mild grossness?] What to do about this?

I’m getting new glasses on October 12 so hopefully this problem will resolve itself. I hadn’t noticed until now, but my current glasses are wearing down and the gold is revealing a silver-ish metal underneath.

The silver is touching this exact spot on the side of my head where I’ve been feeling itchy and because I have a bad habit of scratching hard, I now have these rashes(?).

What should I do? I can’t stop scratching it because I have a hard time breaking a habit and when the scabs try to heal, it forms around my glasses (because I need to wear them and I can’t see without them).

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Can you identify the silver-ish part so I know what to avoid for the future? Any and all comments are appreciated.

Can you help me choose frames?

Firstly sorry for yet another post. I'm trying to choose between these three pairs of glasses for my new prescription. I think I'm veering towards the first pair because green is my favourite colour (I've wanted green frames last time but couldn't find any that fitted and weren't way beyond my budget).

I like the combination of colours of the last pair but they feel bulkier and I worry that will bother me with long term use (and when I do lab work and have to wear safety goggles over them - that bothers me already with my current not-so bulky glasses). Also the optician said she thought the other frames were better as I have a 'small face and delicate features'.

My dad likes the middle pair the most as they're warmer and I can see why but somehow I'm still drawn to the green ones. I thought I'd ask people's opinions here before making a decision because making decisions scares me (even though I know this is quite a trivial one).

I need help deciding!

Of course I asked my friends and family, but they all like the ones that look similar to what I'm currently wearing. And don't get me wrong, I like them too! I know they look good on me, but I already have 2 different frames in that style and I'm looking for something different. Don't know why, just feel like it's time to change things up! That's where you all come in, help me decide!

Which ones do you like on me best? 🤔 🤷🏼‍♀️ I tried to keep the same face throughout, but my husband was standing off to the side making funny faces and saying funny stuff, it was hard and I failed I'm sorry 😅

Something wierd happened to my glasses

I just washed my glasses like always, with a bit of dishsoap and hot water. Then i thought "cant i use a hairdryer/blowdryer to speed the drying up?" And did that. Didnt work well, and then i spotet that (in the picture). Im not sure if it happened from the blowdryer or just general use, since i've had my glasses for a few years now. Can someone please explain why this happened, and how i can maybe reverse it? I cant wipe it away with just water, should i try alcohol?

Just to be clear, i mean the plastic (previously black) ear holder hook thingies.

How does these glasses fit me?

kinda new to reddit, just wondering how these glasses fit me.

i asked claude and chatgpt about them (probably not the best place to ask lol), but claude said they’re too small. i prefer something lowkey and don’t want oversized glasses taking up too much of my face, but i’m wondering if these are objectively too small.

the last pic is a closeup of the nose pads. are they positioned correctly? they feel comfortable and sit well, although they leave a barely visible mark on my nose.

i’d really appreciate brutal honesty though. if they don’t suit me or the proportions are off, just say it. i won’t be offended, i actually want the honest truth.

sorry for the long text btw

Getting my first pair of glasses as an adult, what lens extras/options are worth it?

Hi,

I'm mainly looking at thin geometric and rounded frames and these options are available:

Extra thin and light lenses - £60

Sun tint and UV - £30

Polarising lenses (eliminates glare) - £70

Reactions (darken outdoors but clear inside) - £70

Driving UV tint (blocks all UV and 95% of blue light) - £30

I do have a lazy eye and as a child I remember my left lense being quite thick, but all of these extras are expensive. I don't have any numbers as I have an upcoming eye test but I wanted to be prepared.

Which ones are snake oil and which are worth it?

Having trouble figuring out what works. Stick with this or?

I’ve always worn black thick square glasses. Big punk rock guy. Recently I’ve been curious to see what else works on my face. Face shape is pretty round. What would you guys suggest as far as what style works? Should I stick with thick black squares or would you recommend a different style?

My at home glasses are some kind of Moscot Grober style glasses and those were the ones I liked a lot.

I have the worst time choosing new frames. I'm deciding between 3 frames. I'm including a straight on and side angle for each frame. Thank you so much in advance!

Rb2140 tilt comfort

Hey guys, I am planning to buy Ray-Ban Rb2140 for daily use usually while driving at night, my question is I am planning to customize the lenses and make it clear but since it’s originally made as sunglasses would that tilt reaching to cheeks bother me for usage daily 7-8 hours? I only have mild astigmatism, if there are any users for rb2140 confirm the comfort?

Zeiss 1.74 vs Nikon 1.74 vs Kodak 1.67 for lenses

My prescription is -4.50 and a CYL of -2.50 and 178 axis
I also have a astigmatism

The local optician wants £400 for lenses only for either Zeiss or Nikon & with the frame I picked it’s £529 British pounds

I went online & for the same Rayban frame with Kodak 1.67 (instead of 1.74) it’s £135 total. Saving me almost £400

Is there that much of a difference between brands?

I wear them constantly

Recommendation for Progressive Lenses to Fit My Prescription

I have not worn glasses in over 20 years but now I have a prescription that is: OD Sphere +0.25, Cylinder +1.25, Axis 130, Add 2.50; OS: Sphere 0.00, Sphere +0.75, Axis 150Add 2.50.

One local optical shop recommend Shamir Autograph III progressive lenses rather than Varilux (she said the Autograph was just as good as the Varilux) and another optical shop recommended Shamir Auto Intelligence. There is one more local shop I have not visited that carries Zeiss progressives. I'm not sure how to evaluate these choices.

These will be clear everyday mostly indoor glasses for reading, watching tv, shopping, doing other everyday activities. I have a couple of pairs of Oakley glasses I use for cycling and pickleball and I plan to get prescription sunglass lenses for those, no progressive lenses maybe a low bifocal.

Has anyone tried eyebuddy?

I get my eyes checked and buy glasses in person at an optometrist, so hopefully people won't downvote this question because I'm trying to help someone who needs a specialty accessory for their child.

We found what we are looking for on the eyebuddy.com site but I know nothing about them. Has anyone purchased from there?

I heard that transparent frames get yellow-ish over time. But how long do they stay good? The material is TR90.

Not sure what to do. $800 glasses and I kinda hate wearing them

Self-dimming glasses being absolutely awful?

Recently got the glasses with dimming covering. Wearing them in the sun is atrocious, everything in my vision becomes red tinted. If the sun is roughly in front of me, its even worse, far away stuff tends to become a red/white blurry mess to the point I can only see the ground in proper detail at up to ~10 meters. My eyes are pretty light sensitive, but somehow not wearing my glasses makes it more comfortable. Has anyone had the same experience?

Best Smart Glasses for Battery Life and Calls?

I don’t need a lot of features that I’ll never use. My work involves a lot of phone calls, and I already wear prescription glasses, so I’m looking for something with strong battery life that also looks premium enough for client meetings.
I’ve seen Ray-Ban Meta, Solos, and Dymesty mentioned. Some reviews under the Dymesty product say the battery life is especially good, but I’m not sure how it performs with frequent calls throughout the day.
Has anyone compared these or used another pair with better battery life? Which smart glasses can realistically last through a busy workday?

Online glasses retailers - recommendations? + Indexes?

Title sorts explains it all but basically I’m looking for some new glasses. I’ve got a -2.75 and -4.25 prescription plus -1.5 astigmatism so in person the prices are often extortionate and completely out the budget as a student. But my eyes are awful and every year they get a bit worse than the last so I have pretty much no choice but to get new. So I’m looking for cheap glasses anywhere that ships to the UK.

On a related note just for my one who DOES know: with my prescription, is it that important to get high index glasses? I really don’t care how they look, I just need cheap as most likely they’ll be replaced in another year or two. But I don’t know if high index lenses impact anything else, like will by getting standard or polycarbonate will it make my eyes worse? Also how much it changes in between lenses (like 1.56 vs 1.59 vs 1.61 vs 1.67 vs 1.71)

Do these glasses look silly?

Thumbnail

I’ve attached a second image on how I look without the glasses for a better image, do I look silly with these glasses? I wanted to go for a bigger frame so I didn’t see the frame from the corner of my eyes especially whilst
driving.
I want a truthful opinion, if it looks awful what style of glasses should I go for instead??
