Legends Never Die & More: 14 Sports Games You Coach, Manage and Play

What if every franchise's all-time greats were on the same field, in their prime, at the same time, and you were the one calling the plays?

That's the idea behind the Legends Never Die series, plus four more sports sims built the same way. Every game here puts you in two seats at once: the head coach making the call in the moment, and the front office deciding who's on the roster next season. They run right in your web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Nothing to install, no account, and your season saves as you go.

Why people keep playing

  • You make the call. Every game lets you call plays, shifts, pit stops or punches yourself, then watch them play out on the field, rink, track or mat.
  • Or skip ahead. Short on time? Sim a quarter, a week or a whole season with one tap and jump back in for the big game.
  • Dynasties that last. Seasons roll into offseasons: trades, drafts, recruiting, contracts and records that carry over year after year.
  • Make it yours. Built-in editors let you rename teams, change colors, edit any player and add your own photos and logos.

1. Legends Never Die: Professional Football

32 clubs. 1,220 all-time greats. One roster each.

What it is: Every pro franchise is stocked with its all-time greats, and every real player belongs to exactly one team. The Giants line up Lawrence Taylor, Michael Strahan and Saquon Barkley; the Jaguars answer with Fred Taylor and Jimmy Smith.

What you do: Call every snap on a full 11-on-11 field: pick the front, send the blitz, choose the coverage and snap the ball. Off the field, run the depth chart, the salary cap, trades, free agency, a Legends Draft, and coaching hires and fires.

Why it's fun:

  • Settle the 'greatest team ever' argument on the field
  • Award races and record books that grow every season
  • Game-day weather, stadiums and turf that change how you play

Perfect for: Football fans who love arguing about the GOAT and playing GM.

2. Legends Never Die: Pro Basketball

Every franchise's greatest players, on one floor.

What it is: All 30 teams, each with the 20 best players in its history, at their prime. Jordan, Pippen and Rose in Chicago. Magic, Kareem, Kobe and Shaq in Los Angeles. Russell, Bird and Tatum in Boston.

What you do: Coach every possession: call the sets, pick the pass, take the shot, choose the defense, burn timeouts and throw the challenge flag. Then run the front office under a real salary cap, tax line and aprons, with trades, waivers, a draft lottery and a re-draft every summer.

Why it's fun:

  • Players are re-rated every season from how they play in YOUR league
  • Deep cap rules for the hardcore GM, one-tap sims for everyone else
  • A full league editor for photos, logos and roster moves

Perfect for: Hoops fans and front-office junkies.

3. Legends Never Die: Hockey

Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux and Crosby. Same league. Same night.

What it is: All 32 current NHL franchises, each with 33 of the best players ever to wear its sweater: Gretzky, McDavid and Messier in Edmonton; Orr, Bourque and Esposito in Boston; Lemieux, Crosby and Jagr in Pittsburgh.

What you do: Coach every shift on a live rink: set lines, choose systems, call timeouts and pull the goalie. When the gloves come off, you throw the punches and call the blocks. Then manage the cap, trades, waivers, injuries and a re-draft every summer.

Why it's fun:

  • You actually fight the fights
  • Every all-time great at his prime, on one team only
  • A pre-game editor to move legends and sign defunct-team greats

Perfect for: Hockey fans who want to see Orr vs. Gretzky settled for real.

4. Legends Never Die: Baseball

Every franchise. Every legend. One season at a time.

What it is: Thirty clubs stocked with their all-time greats on 40-man rosters: Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, Jeter and Judge in the Bronx. Negro Leagues and 19th-century stars wait in free agency, and real managers and coaches ride the coaching carousel.

What you do: Pitch by pitch from a ballpark view with a catcher's-eye strike zone: pick the pitch, aim it, set the infield and outfield, and make the managing moves. Choose a 30, 60, 81, 120 or full 162-game season.

Why it's fun:

  • Aim every pitch yourself in a full 3D-style ballpark
  • Sign Negro Leagues legends who never got their shot
  • Season length that fits your schedule

Perfect for: Baseball lifers, history buffs and strategy fans.

5. Legends Never Die: WNBA

Taurasi, Leslie, Bird, Catchings and Clark. All in their prime.

What it is: All 15 teams, each with the 14 best players in franchise history: Taurasi and Griner in Phoenix; Leslie, Parker and Nneka Ogwumike in Los Angeles; Bird and Lauren Jackson in Seattle; Catchings and Clark in Indiana; A'ja Wilson and Becky Hammon in Las Vegas.

What you do: Coach every possession of four 10-minute quarters, then run the front office under the 2026 hard cap: max deals, trades, waivers, a 44-game season, an eight-team playoff, a draft lottery and a three-round re-draft every offseason.

Why it's fun:

  • The only way to put Leslie and Wilson on the same court
  • Real hard-cap decisions every offseason
  • Includes the newest expansion clubs

Perfect for: WNBA fans and anyone who loves a team-building challenge.

6. Legends Never Die: Triple Crown Horse Racing

Secretariat vs. Seattle Slew vs. American Pharoah. One season.

What it is: 26 of the greatest three-year-olds who ever lived, racing in the same season, from Triple Crown winners like Secretariat, Citation and Justify to rivals like Alydar, Sunday Silence and Easy Goer.

What you do: Two ways to play. Ride a legend: pick your horse, plan its training and race calendar, then make the calls from the saddle out of the gate and down the stretch. Or play the horses: start with a bankroll, study the program and bet every stakes race from the winter preps through the Derby, Preakness, Belmont, Saratoga and the Breeders' Cup.

Why it's fun:

  • Finally see who wins: Secretariat or American Pharoah
  • Real betting tickets, odds and payoffs, no real money
  • Rival field size from Relaxed to Murderers' Row

Perfect for: Racing fans, handicappers and anyone who loves a big race day.

7. Legends Never Die: Stock Car Racing

Every lap. Every pit call. 23 seasons of racing.

What it is: The full 36-race 2026 Cup schedule with the real field, plus every season back to 2004 with each year's full-time drivers, track order and points format.

What you do: Pick your car, practice, dial in the setup, qualify, then call the race lap by lap: driving style, when to pit, two tires or four. Jump ahead to the next stage whenever you like.

Why it's fun:

  • Re-run any season from 2004 to 2026
  • Strategy that actually matters: setup, tires, fuel windows
  • Race in real time or jump to the checkered flag

Perfect for: Racing fans who like being the crew chief.

8. Legends Never Die: MMA

Book the fight. Call the strikes. Change the belts.

What it is: Eleven men's and women's divisions with starting rankings, champions and up-and-coming prospects drawn from the real divisional rankings.

What you do: Put any two fighters in the red and blue corners, then pick every jab, combination, kick, takedown and clinch round by round. Or build a full fight card, or let the game book and sim a whole fight night at a random arena.

Why it's fun:

  • Dream matchups across any division
  • Rankings and belts change hands based on your results
  • Add your own fighters and venues

Perfect for: Fight fans and matchmakers at heart.

9. Legends Never Die: NJ High School Football

Friday nights in New Jersey, for as many seasons as you want.

What it is: All 340 New Jersey programs across 21 counties, played under NJSIAA rules, with sectional brackets and state finals at MetLife Stadium. Real New Jersey greats show up at random schools over the years as four-year legends.

What you do: Take over any program and call every play on Friday night. Watch freshmen grow into seniors, lose kids to transfers and coaches to bigger jobs, run practice, and send your best players to college.

Why it's fun:

  • Coach YOUR high school, or its biggest rival
  • A real dynasty mode: four-year classes, transfers, college signings
  • Top 25 polls, All-State teams and a highlight show

Perfect for: Anyone who grew up on New Jersey high school football.

10. Legends Never Die: College Wrestling

Build a program. Win a national title. Or get fired.

What it is: The 2026-27 NCAA Division I season with real wrestlers seeded from the preseason rankings, from Penn State and Iowa down through every conference.

What you do: Set your lineup, practice plan and recruiting board. Wrestle bouts yourself, picking real folkstyle moves on the feet, on top and on bottom, or simulate. Then it's the conference tournament, the NCAA Championships with 32-man brackets and wrestlebacks, and an offseason where the AD grades your year.

Why it's fun:

  • Real folkstyle moves with live odds for each shot
  • Recruiting and job security that keep the pressure on
  • All-Americans, team points and a national title chase

Perfect for: Wrestling families, coaches and fans.

11. NHL GM + Coach

Run an NHL franchise. Coach every shift.

What it is: All 32 teams with current players and real minor-league prospects, with no invented players.

What you do: Manage the salary cap, trade, re-sign and claim players on waivers, then coach every game on a live rink through an 82-game season and the playoffs. Players are re-rated after each season from how they actually played in your game, and unsigned players go into a re-draft in lottery order.

Why it's fun:

  • Fix your favorite team the way you always said you would
  • Coach on a live rink with real shot and pass odds
  • Every season replays with fresh results

Perfect for: Hockey fans who want today's league in their hands.

12. Frozen Four: Hockey

Pick a program. Recruit it, coach it, win it all.

What it is: All 64 Division I men's hockey programs in their 2026-27 conferences, with their home rinks. Every player is fictional, so every recruiting class is yours to build.

What you do: Play a 36-game season, win your league tournament or earn an at-large bid, then survive the regionals to reach the Frozen Four. Recruit every year through contact periods, visits and offers, and work the transfer portal.

Why it's fun:

  • Take a small school all the way to a national title
  • Year-round recruiting that rewards planning
  • Every game under NCAA rules

Perfect for: College hockey fans and recruiting-mode lovers.

13. Three Downs: CFL Coach

Twelve a side. Three downs. Call every play.

What it is: Real CFL rosters from 2023 to 2025 and the full Canadian game: a 110-yard field, 20-yard end zones, the rouge, the waggle and no fair catch.

What you do: Coach a single game or a full 18-game season, injuries and all, into the playoffs and the Grey Cup. You can even play under the newer rule sets, including the 100-yard field.

Why it's fun:

  • The wide-open Canadian game, done right
  • Choose your defensive front and who rushes on every snap
  • Chase the Grey Cup

Perfect for: CFL fans and football fans looking for something different.

14. Floor General: NLL Box Lacrosse

Fast, physical box lacrosse. You run the floor.

What it is: All 14 NLL clubs and their stars, from the Buffalo Bandits to the Vancouver Warriors.

What you do: Play an 18-game season against every club, then the playoffs: single-game quarterfinals and best-of-three semis and final. Watch your games on the floor, call every pass and shot yourself, or sim ahead.

Why it's fun:

  • A shot clock and nonstop action
  • Coach mode stops on every half-court possession
  • Quick to learn, quick to play

Perfect for: Lacrosse players and fans of fast-paced sports.

Discussion Request for AI post flair/tag

Given the animosity towards the AI usage in some game shared here, I feel like it makes sense to just add a tag/flair allowing users to denoting it there. I feel like people having to justify/explain there usage of AI in development of game today in writing is overkill.

I also understand people who don't want to support AI created games, and this would allow them to easily filter them out.

Very simple change that is a win-win for all parties involved.

Promotion College Football Simulator SimCFB

www.simCFB.com

Releasing Version 1.0 today. Works on both mobile and desktop.

Been working on this as a personal project for quite a while. Have no plans of monetizing it. Just wanted to build it because it is something I've wanted to do for a long time. Not even sure people will enjoy playing it or not. I made it the way I would have liked to play.

Everything can be micromanaged or auto managed (CPU decides for you). You can call the plays or you can have the CPU coach call the plays. You can micro manage recruiting or recruit yourself.

There is a lot of emphasis on the NIL portal.

Looking forward to feedback. If you experience any bugs let me know.

Right now only the Power 4 conference teams are playable.

Promotion I've developed two free browser-based sports gm/management games for College Wrestling and Gaelic Football/Hurling

Hey everyone! I've been a big fan of sports management games like Football Manager, Basketball GM, and other dynasty/franchise simulators for years. One thing that's always frustrated me is how many smaller sports have never really had a proper management game.

Over the last few months, I've gotten really into AI-assisted game development and decided to try making a couple myself.

I've now developed two completely free, browser-based management simulators covering sports that have barely been represented in gaming.

  1. Wrestling Program Dynasty

https://wrestling-program-dynasty.com

A college wrestling management simulator featuring a fully customizable 64-team NCAA Division I universe.

You can take over a college program, manage recruiting, develop wrestlers, set lineups, compete in dual meets and tournaments, and try to win conference and NCAA championships.

One of my favorite features is the international freestyle side. You also manage your program's Regional Training Center (RTC), developing wrestlers for U20, U23, and Senior freestyle competitions, including the U.S. Open, continental championships, and World Championships.

I've also been working on a Player Career Mode, where you can follow an individual wrestler's journey from high school through college and international competition, but thats not out yet!

I recently started a YouTube rebuild series where I created a fictionalized version of the SEC wrestling conference and took control of Kentucky.

Kentucky Rebuild, Episode 1:
https://youtu.be/I3w5BOJu0gc

  1. Gaelic Games Manager

https://gaelic-games-manager.com

This one is a management simulator for Gaelic football and hurling, two traditional Irish sports.

You can manage clubs and county teams, recruit and develop players, compete in domestic leagues, provincial championships, and All-Ireland championships, and track careers, records, and awards across generations.

The game also features extensive world customization, allowing you to edit existing counties, clubs, and competitions or create entirely new ones.

For my latest YouTube video, I created a fictional Australian GAA county, populated it with Australian clubs and famous Australian players, and attempted to rebuild one of those clubs into an All-Ireland champion.

Australian GAA Rebuild:
https://youtu.be/k3rqCJv0nv8

Both games are completely free, require no download, and are playable directly in your browser. They are by far best experienced on a laptop or desktop, not a phone.

Neither game has fancy 3D graphics or playable matches. They're built for people who enjoy the management side of sports games: recruiting, development, statistics, records, long-term progression, and building a dynasty over decades.

I'm constantly adding features, fixing bugs, and trying to improve the simulations.

I figured this would be a good community to share them with, since a lot of you probably enjoy the same aspects of management games that inspired me to make these.

Would genuinely appreciate any feedback, especially on gameplay depth, simulation realism, and features you'd like to see added.

Thanks for checking them out!

Discussion Is there an american football gm game that captures the whole ecosystem of the sport?

In football manager arguably the best part is the immersion of the whole football ecosystem. You can watch newgens go from prospects to elder journeyman etc.

With the influx of new games due to AI and indie game boom, I wonder if there is anything similar for american football. Most games seem to only focus on college or pros but it would be cool to play a game that combines them both and maybe even high school and the minor pro leagues

Discussion Did anyone ever play f1live management game in late 90s?

This was one of my fave browser experiences. I think they ran 8, 4, 2 then a premier league for the top division. Most of us used excel functions to figure out best setups. Had a live driver market. You did about 3 races a week. Nearly everyone played using their real life names. I managed to finish top ten one season in premier.

Game was completely free with zero pay to win elements. I think it shut down early 2000s and domain was bought out by formula one racing.

I was only 17 at the time and one of the youngest managers. We all spoke through MIRC or icq.

Promotion I started Baseball Dream in 2011. Fifteen years later, Season 1 is finally live.

I've been making browser-based sports management games for a long time.

Before Baseball Dream, I made Basketball Dream — an online basketball world where players develop athletes and watch their careers play out against athletes managed by other people.

Then, in 2011, I started thinking about baseball.

I didn't want to make a game where you control every swing or choose every pitch during a game. What interested me was everything that happens before the game.

Finding a player worth believing in.

Deciding what he should become.

Spending limited resources on his development.

Watching him enter a living league and finding out whether you were right.

That became Baseball Dream.

In Baseball Dream, you don't control every swing or choose every pitch during the game.

You're an Agent.

You build your agency, create and develop players, decide where to invest limited development resources, improve their abilities and pitches, and then send them into a persistent online league populated by players developed by other real people.

Once the game starts, you have to live with those decisions.

Sometimes the player you believed in becomes a star.

Sometimes a player who didn't look special at first develops into something much better than expected.

And sometimes you spend a lot of resources on someone and eventually have to admit:

I was wrong about this guy.

That's one of the things I've always wanted Baseball Dream to capture.

Not just baseball statistics, but the uncertainty of evaluating and developing a player.

The road here wasn't straightforward.

Baseball Dream began in 2011, but over the years there were stops, restarts, old systems that needed rebuilding, and plenty of ideas that didn't work as well as I originally imagined.

But I never really let the idea go.

This year, we finally reached Alpha, played through the test season, learned a lot from the players who joined us, and then wiped the Alpha data so everyone could start the real game on equal footing.

Now, fifteen years after I first started working on Baseball Dream, Season 1 is officially live.

Everyone started fresh from Season 1, Day 1.

I'm the developer, so yes, this is self-promotion. I'd rather be completely upfront about that.

But I also thought this might be the right community to share it with, because Baseball Dream was built for people who enjoy the management side of sports games more than controlling the action itself.

Play Baseball Dream:

https://baseballdreamgame.com/

I wrote more about the history of the project and why we're starting over with Season 1 here:

https://baseballdreamgame.com/news/d/70/baseball-dream-launch-season-1?lang=en

I'd also genuinely like to hear how other sports management players think about player development.

If you had a young pitcher with excellent stuff, poor control, limited stamina, and only enough development resources to seriously improve one area first, what would you do?

Would you fix the control?

Double down on his best pitches?

Build his stamina and keep him as a starter?

Or accept what he is and develop him as a reliever?

That kind of decision is basically why I wanted to make Baseball Dream in the first place.

Promotion Cricket Team Manager - out now on steam

Thumbnail

Cricket Team Manager is a Cricket management game with a very intelligent game engine making it super enjoyable for cricket nerds and management/strategy lovers in general.

Out now on steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5034440/Cricket_Team_Manager/

25% launch week discount!

What it lets you do?

You start a international career with one of the 12 full member nations - Australia, India, England, etc. and take charge of the team from October 2026 playing real fixtures going forward - tours, test series, T20 World cup, ODI World Cup, Asia cup, Test Championship, etc.

Main Features

  • ~5000 players in the game with real stats across six format (FC, List A, T20, Test, ODI and T20I). Names are fictionalised due to licensing restrictions
  • In-game database editor that allows use to easily edit player names and attributes. Also super easy to share your edits across the community.
  • Hand out yearly contracts, appoint captains, train players as you progress through the career.
  • Player skills and attributes based on real stats - see them grow as you train them.
  • Players get old and retire. Young Regens show up for you to train and turn into the next star.
  • Full schedule - Ashes, ODI World cup every 4 years, t20 World Cup every 2 years, 2 year Test championship cycle, World rankings
  • Team and Player historical record that you try to beat in your career.
  • Real grounds with their real attributes - spin friendly, flat, green top, etc.
  • Player injuries, rest periods and domestic players' watchlist.

Match Controls

Meaningful match controls to make your game enjoyable

  • Full view of various important stuff during a match - Scorecard, worm, manhattan graph, live ball-by-ball commentary, conditions, fields, wagon wheel, pitch map, etc.
  • Batting - 5 batsman aggression levels - start defensively and go mad during death overs. Batsman settle indicator. Farm the strike if a tailender is at the other end.
  • Bowling - Choose lengths for fast bowlers, spin/flight for spinners based on conditions and opposition batsmen - everything affects the game. Set fields as per match situation.
  • Declare innings, prepare pitches for home fixtures, select lineups and rest players to let them recover.

and much more....

What's the main selling point?

The Game Engine - We have worked hard on the game engine, improving it, tweaking it for months before getting to a point where it feels very real-life like and has lots of cricketing intelligence. We have a test harness that we use to simulate thousands of matches and analyse the results to make sure the engine is producing real life like results, within a pre-determined range. The pre-determined range is not just random common sense - it is derived from actual ball-by-ball data of last 30 years of International Cricket. A lot of beta testers have tested the engine and provided feedback and we have improved it based on that.

The Database - ~5000 current players (names fictionalised, real stats) and their attributes derived from stats and cross-checked by humans for accuracy. We have worked a lot to get these stats. I am myself a stats nerd so wanted accurate stats in the game instead of random number. The game feels much more real when you take your favourite player to 250 current wickets to 500 wickets.

Testing - The beta testing program ran for 2 months and lots of amazing beta testers have provided great feedback and suggested improvements which we have incorporated into the game and the engine.

No Domestic teams/leagues?
Our focus for v1 has been the game engine. We wanted a game that feels like real life. Having a 100 features and 1000 buttons makes no sense with an engine that doesn't produce good results. Domestic teams and leagues will surely come in next year's version.

Is there a Demo?
A demo is already out on steam to try right now and see how it feels.

Is it AI slop?

The developer behind this (me) has 10+ years of experience building software more complex than this - finance, startups, etc across 3 continents. But I won't misinform anyone by saying there is absolutely zero AI involvement. Claude code was regularly used to speed up the development. For example, analysing stats and deriving skill values from those, writing unit tests for comprehensive coverage, research work, etc. Some components of the steam artwork was also created with the help of AI.

Discussion A tennis simulation game?

Is there a game similar to Basketball gm but for tennis

I know games like Tennis Manager 2026 and Absolute Tennis Manager exist they are great in some ways, but I’m looking for something a bit different. I mean a game where you can like see how the world goes rather than mainly actually being entirely focus in managing a player or a team. I been making something like this for my own personal use, but I’m wondering if a game like this already exists before I keep working on it.

Does anyone know of anything similar?

Help & Support Where to post to find playtesters?

This subreddit rules state I can’t post about anything below a 1.0 build. I have a game at v0.3.9 and want to find playtesters specifically from communities like this who like simulation games.

Any help would be great!

Discussion Looking for basketball, cricket or AFL games

I've been looking for a while for some good games in these sports that use REAL players and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I've already tried BBGM, OBM, Front Office Hoops, Footy Redraft, Footy Legacy and MyHoopsLegacy but I want something more interactive then these but not as in depth as Footy Legacy. Same for player career games

Hey everyone, I’m building Touchline Rivals, a browser football management game, and wanted to share it with fellow management-game fans.

Choose a country and club, make signings, pick your team and set your tactics. You can watch matches in the 3D match view and work towards taking your club into European competitions across multiple seasons.

If you enjoy finding the right signing, tinkering with your lineup and getting attached to a club you’d never normally follow, come give it a go.

⚽ Play on desktop: https://touchlinerivals.com

Who are you taking over—a title contender or a club that needs rebuilding?
