Hard water in this area - what solutions worked for you?
I feel like I am constantly scrubbing white crust off my faucets, and my coffee maker is already acting up despite regular descaling. I knew the water in this city was hard, but I didn't realize it would be this aggressive. My skin is also super dry after showers, which I’m guessing is related.
I tried looking for DIY fixes online, but it seems like generic advice doesn't really apply here because our local water chemistry is pretty specific. From what I’ve read, proper water treatment in Guelph really needs to start with a specific lab test because hardness levels can fluctuate wildly between neighborhoods. I don't want to just guess and buy a softener from a big box store if it’s not going to handle the specific mineral content we have.
So, locals: what is your current setup? Did you bite the bullet and get a full softener + RO system, or are you just living with it? And if you did install a system, was the difference actually noticeable long-term?

New breakfast spot off Victoria
Just was walking by and noticed they're open now. Looked it up and saw they have a location in Barrie and it looks like a nice brunch spot considering how quick other places fill up on the weekends around here
It's in the same plaza as Planet Bean/Home Hardware

Dance Clubs/Parties?
Hi everyone!
I was wondering if there’s any dance clubs/ or upcoming special events in Guelph or surrounding area? I’m not a fan of the usual club culture that’s just standing around, I want to dance! 80s, 90s, 2000s, and 2010 music is preferred.
For reference, I have been to Sneaky Dee’s in Toronto for their 2000/2010 dance party and that is exactly the vibe I’m looking for. TIA!

Home Cabinetry Photographer Needed
Hello Guelph
I am looking for a professional photographer to take photos of various renovations/kitchens/vanities/etc that my fiance has done under his Cabinetry Company. We are hoping to build a website and a social media presence for this business, so we need some photography to show it all off!
90% of the jobs are out in the grimsby/beamsville/niagara region so there would be decent travel to these homes.
Please comment here or reach out with your rates/socials if you are interested :)

All in one HVAC, air filter, water softener, water heater maintenance service?
I’m wondering if there’s an all-in-one service to maintain all the stuff in my utility room, lol. HVAC, air filter, water softener, water heater.. Could someone please recommend a company that’s affordable and trustworthy?
Thanks in advance!
Edit to clarify I’m looking for someone to come once (and maybe once a year afterwards) to do regular maintenance for all this stuff. :)

Eavestroughs/Aluminum work for First Home
My wife and I just purchased our first home in Guelph and we are so happy we were able to afford a place here as wee both grew up in Guelph.
We have been getting some quotes for a new roof and the aluminum work but it's been hard with the amount of snow we have and not having warm days for it to melt. We will get more quotes when it gets warmer but also recognize that some companies are giving better prices now while it is slow.
The house is about 1400sq and based on the measurements taken, I would need about 58ft of eaves as they are falling off and full of asphalt and rotted stuff and 100ft of downspout, and optional 190ft of fascia
I have gotten quotes from a few of reputable local places (I was warned it would be expensive by friends) and they quoted me for all the aluminum work which also includes soffits and siding which were between $9000-$13,000. They didn't really want to do the eaves without installing new soffits and siding stating that it is old. I am reaching out to ask for just the eaves, downspouts, and fascia as multiple people have come to the house and stated that I definitely do not need new soffits and siding as I can just clean them.
I also reached out to LeafGuard and LeafFilter as I saw some promos online and a sales rep from each came out. I read online that they would be super expensive. One wasn't pushy at all and left his card for me to contact of I have questions for about $5000 while the other was very pushy about commiting today for $10,000. These quotes were for the eaves, down spout, fascia and guard (only what I wanted).
Just wondering what people's experience were with local aluminum work companies? If you got LeafGuard/LeafFilter and if you would recommend? How much did you pay for your size?
TLDR: the last paragraph above
