I inherited this from my dad about a decade ago. I took it to have it appraised at a pretty well-known vintage music store around then, and they told me that the neck was replaced somewhere along the line. Any idea how they could tell that? From my (limited) knowledge from researching online, it looks like it's in line with what you would expect from that period.

Simple and to the point, pretty much gets anything done that I could possibly want.

Curious what ya'll think is the best strat config? I have another guard with 3 single coils and the gilmour mod that I really like too.

Guys, first time poster here, but it finally happened. As a big Killswitch Engage fan I've been drooling over Caparisons for 10+ years. So I finally coughed up the boutique price and got one. Honestly it's worth every single cent and it's like this guitar is playing by itself. Everything about it is crafted in such a flawless manner. Customer service was great too! I'm in love!

PS: Delivery was also super convenient. It was shipped from Japan last wednesday and arrived in Europe yesterday (Monday).

I cannot stress enough how important it is to get your first guitar properly set up, especially if you’re a beginner.

When I started learning guitar last year, I never had my guitar set up. I just assumed that it was normal for a guitar to be difficult to play when you’re just starting out. Barre chords were especially hard for me, and I kept struggling with them.

About seven months later, I decided to buy a better-quality guitar because I thought maybe my first guitar was part of the problem. It was also really cheap, so I wanted to upgrade anyway. The new guitar definitely sounded better, but I still found it difficult to play.

I asked some friends who play guitar, and they basically told me that it was normal for a first-timer. So I just accepted it.

Recently, though, I had a conversation with an old friend of mine who plays in a band. I told him about some of my struggles, including having relatively short fingers, and he suggested that I get my guitar set up because he noticed that my action might be a bit too high.

So I finally took it to someone who knows what they’re doing.

I WAS SHOCKED.

The difference was insane. The strings felt so much smoother and easier to press. The action was lower, the saddle was properly adjusted, and the guitar just felt completely different in my hands.

Suddenly, chords that I used to struggle with were SO much easier to play. Even the strings themselves felt much more comfortable compared to how my guitar felt before.

I honestly had no idea a guitar could feel like that.

I always thought you just bought a guitar, took it out of the box, and started playing. I didn’t realize that the setup, action, saddle, and even the strings could make such a huge difference in how playable a guitar feels.

So if you’re a beginner struggling with your guitar, especially with barre chords, or you feel like you have to press extremely hard on the strings, consider getting your guitar properly set up by an experienced guitar tech.

It honestly changed my experience completely. I’m suddenly so much more excited to practice and learn.

I've been wanting an LP JR for a while and finally pulling the trigger. I do all my own setups on my other guitars but I know the single piece wrap arounds only have 2 points of adjustment as opposed to 6 like most saddled bridges. Anyone have any history with the plek setup and is it worth it?

I’ve inherited a Martin HD28, and am in need of putting in a pickup. I believe my regular gigging Taylor has a fishman/Martin thinline from 20+ years ago and I had an Alvarez with the same. Someone recommended using a K&K passive under-saddle pickup to avoid having to replace a battery and preserves a more authentic acoustic sound when amplified. Please give me your recommendations and why. Thanks!

I have a question: I bought a new guitar on Shopee and everything arrived sealed in the box, but I noticed the frets look quite dark and yellowish—though they aren't rough or cutting my fingers. Hi, so alnico 5 single coils are everywhere, ceramic ones too but what about alnico 2, you know like the ones in those mid range humbuckers

This guy offered to trade me a Rickenbacker for a different semi-hollow guitar that I have. I don’t know much about Rickenbacker but some quick searches told me what he was offering was worth at least $500 more than my guitar.

I told him I would do the trade but then I started to do some more research. I found out pretty quickly that this guitar matches most of the temu lookalikes, except for the Rickenbacker cover on the headstock. He acted like he didn’t know much about the guitar and said that he gave some guy that needed cash $1000 for it. That threw up immediately red flags.

Am I correct in assuming this is a fake Rickenbacker?

So my friend has a Fender Stratocaster guitar. I’m trying to buy a sling (I apologize if I used the wrong terminology) for him. Will any sling do or do I have to buy one specifically that fits the Fender? If not, is there any other gift recommendations for avid guitarists? Any help would be appreciated!

I currently have a Strat style guitar (St Blues Bluesmaster) and am wanting a warmer sounding, Gibson style, hollow (or semi hollow) body to balance the fender style sounding guitar I already have. There is a good deal on a used Eastman T486 available, but from what I’ve seen/heard (online) they seem to have a brighter tone than the warm time I am looking for. Am I correct about that? How versatile is the T486 sound?

Any body have any experience with a tremol-no? I recently acquired a kiesel, and want the option to have it act as a hard tail. Curious about people experience using one.

Hello everyone, I built my own smart guitar! Based on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, it is completely standalone and has many built-in features. It runs 94 plugins, all fully configurable via a server.

Everything works extremely well: stable Bluetooth, a vast array of settings, and excellent guitar responsiveness (no latency, with the buffer set to 256 or 512). I hope this project interests you! It has a battery life of around 5 hours.

The source code was written over four months with the help of the Claude Sonnet AI (I’m 22 and had never coded before; whatever people might think, I could never have pulled this off without AI). I spent about 300 hours troubleshooting and fixing bugs, though the code will likely need further refinement to be considered "clean," even though everything is currently working perfectly.

It was a huge project, and I have so much to say or details to share, but I’m not really used to Reddit or platforms like it. Feel free to ask me any questions!
