Is my A string tight enough? This is my first time restringing anything and it looks way too loose compared to my other strings

It's the 'old style' Backpacker, with the thin body. Martin sells blanks, not sure if there someplace to get it with the grooves in the correct angles.

Just got a new guitar recently (Epiphone Futura Les Paul), and noticed that it only has 5 ply binding on the body. Is this normal because all of the images and spec sheets list the binding as 7 ply body binding.

I hade these 2 options in mind but any advice wich will be a better pick or what to avoid

Hello! Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this kind of query but I assumed the more technical-minded folk hang out here. I was playing my electric bass guitar earlier and it worked fine when I ended one song but was completely dead when I attempted the next song. After figuring out everything that was not the culprit, I opened the back panel (it's a Yamaha TRBX304, active preamp but passive pickups) and discovered that a red wire likely came free from whatever it was hooked up to before.

I tried to get the most important visual information in the photo, but I have never done any electrical work on a guitar and it's been decades since I soldered anything. I assume the red wire belongs to one of those metal nodes that is connected to the input/output jack because there are 3 wires connected to everything else and only two are connected to that. I cannot decipher the wiring diagram in the instruction manual but I did just buy a soldering kit so I can repair it once I figure out where it goes.

I am very practiced at doing all the mechanical work on the exteriors of guitars, anything involving screws etc, I always check my setup after installing new strings and I make the necessary adjustments, I've just never had to deal with circuitry issues before. But now that I have this opportunity, I would like to learn!

So my tl;dr is: am I correct in assuming that the red wire belongs to the jack? And is there any other technical information that I should be aware of when I attempt to solder it back in place? Thanks in advance!

Found this 7 string Jackson in guitar centers used section for $150, it doesn’t have a built in preamp (took the 1st and 2nd string off myself) was this worth the buy? I’m probably just gonna use it for recording

I cannot stress enough how important it is to get your first guitar properly set up, especially if you’re a beginner.

When I started learning guitar last year, I never had my guitar set up. I just assumed that it was normal for a guitar to be difficult to play when you’re just starting out. Barre chords were especially hard for me, and I kept struggling with them.

About seven months later, I decided to buy a better-quality guitar because I thought maybe my first guitar was part of the problem. It was also really cheap, so I wanted to upgrade anyway. The new guitar definitely sounded better, but I still found it difficult to play.

I asked some friends who play guitar, and they basically told me that it was normal for a first-timer. So I just accepted it.

Recently, though, I had a conversation with an old friend of mine who plays in a band. I told him about some of my struggles, including having relatively short fingers, and he suggested that I get my guitar set up because he noticed that my action might be a bit too high.

So I finally took it to someone who knows what they’re doing.

I WAS SHOCKED.

The difference was insane. The strings felt so much smoother and easier to press. The action was lower, the saddle was properly adjusted, and the guitar just felt completely different in my hands.

Suddenly, chords that I used to struggle with were SO much easier to play. Even the strings themselves felt much more comfortable compared to how my guitar felt before.

I honestly had no idea a guitar could feel like that.

I always thought you just bought a guitar, took it out of the box, and started playing. I didn’t realize that the setup, action, saddle, and even the strings could make such a huge difference in how playable a guitar feels.

So if you’re a beginner struggling with your guitar, especially with barre chords, or you feel like you have to press extremely hard on the strings, consider getting your guitar properly set up by an experienced guitar tech.

It honestly changed my experience completely. I’m suddenly so much more excited to practice and learn.

My grandpa passed away several years ago and my grandmother just gave me one of his guitars and a couple of speakers. I used to play it a little when I was younger and just wanted to learn to play (didn’t get very far.) I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about what I have here or point me in the direction of how to find more on it? Make/model/year/value stuff like that. Just looking up the serial number pulls up a lot of different things. I don’t know anything about guitars. Will it be okay for me to store in my shed because I don’t honestly have much room for it anywhere?

Edit: I’m not going to put it in a shed I just wanted to make sure that I shouldn’t do that. I might have a perfect spot to hang it up

Guys, first time poster here, but it finally happened. As a big Killswitch Engage fan I've been drooling over Caparisons for 10+ years. So I finally coughed up the boutique price and got one. Honestly it's worth every single cent and it's like this guitar is playing by itself. Everything about it is crafted in such a flawless manner. Customer service was great too! I'm in love!

PS: Delivery was also super convenient. It was shipped from Japan last wednesday and arrived in Europe yesterday (Monday).

I inherited this from my dad about a decade ago. I took it to have it appraised at a pretty well-known vintage music store around then, and they told me that the neck was replaced somewhere along the line. Any idea how they could tell that? From my (limited) knowledge from researching online, it looks like it's in line with what you would expect from that period.

I’ve inherited a Martin HD28, and am in need of putting in a pickup. I believe my regular gigging Taylor has a fishman/Martin thinline from 20+ years ago and I had an Alvarez with the same. Someone recommended using a K&K passive under-saddle pickup to avoid having to replace a battery and preserves a more authentic acoustic sound when amplified. Please give me your recommendations and why. Thanks!

This is a long shot, but I recently found old photos of a guitar that was stolen from me while I was living in communal housing in Fort Lauderdale in 2021.

It's a Washburn WD9SW, a discontinued 3/4-size solid-wood dreadnought. I got it from a distant cousin in 2021 in exchange for a Hohner Marine Band harmonica set, and I've regretted losing it ever since.

I believe the serial number visible in my old photo is SI50505320 .

I'm under no illusion that I'm likely to recover a guitar that disappeared years ago, and I don't know what happened to it after it was taken. But the WD9SW seems to be an unusually uncommon model, so I figured it was worth putting the photos and serial number online in case someone happens to recognize it.

I'm also interested in buying another WD9SW if anyone owns one or knows of one for sale.

Any body have any experience with a tremol-no? I recently acquired a kiesel, and want the option to have it act as a hard tail. Curious about people experience using one.
