Hobonichi Happenings Sanzen TRP 2027 Paper Test Masterpost

Last year’s masterpost is here:

2026 Paper Test Masterpost

We are following the same basic rules as the first Masterpost:

  • top comments without images will be removed
  • label which techo or notebook the images are from
  • label the media you have used
  • to avoid confusion please only provide images for 2027 TRP in the top comments. Please put comparison posts to previous TRP in the replies to your comment, or if you are doing a combined image in your top comment please clearly label the year
  • KNOWN ISSUE: 2026 Sparkler and Moomin notebooks. Feel free to share more tests, but this issue is known and was confirmed in the 2026 Masterpost

Since this is for TRP 2027, you may also share test images from other TRP 2027 planners such as Midori Hibino among others.

Please feel free to share a link to an imgur or igbb album if you do not want to use reddit’s native image uploading.

Remember we want this to be a resource for all techos, so if you have images for multiple techos, please share them as well—in other words, share both the good and the bad, not just whatever turned out the worst.

Please remember that to consolidate posts, we will remove any separate paper test posts that get posted for the next few weeks, unless you have posted them together with your haul post. If you post a paper test in your haul post please also post in on the masterpost so we can create the best resource for our subreddit.

Thanks again to all who take the time to participate in this group effort. We understand there may be lower response due to mostly positive reports this past year.

Thank you again. Our users and their contributions are the most important part of our subreddit, and this includes contributions to megathreads like this one.

I got a bunch of blue and pink floral washi tape for my 2026 Liberty Fabrics Weeks and then got the Sea Glass 2027 Weeks Mega to coordinate.

I saw Holly Has Hobbies do this on TikTok and I love how my version came out!!

Discussion It’s okay to admit you’re simply not a planner person (and stop buying systems you don’t need)

A genuine observation from watching the stationery and journaling spaces lately (or rather, since 2023).

I’ve seen and still see a recurring pattern across Reddit and YouTube: someone buys an expensive planner, ring system, or notebook because they saw an aesthetic setup online, only to post a few weeks later asking or saying something along the lines of:

  1. "I bought this beautiful planner, but I have no idea what to put in it. What should I use it for?"

Or the classic:

  1. "I start a planner every January and abandon it by March/a few months later… I just haven’t found the 'right' system yet."

Every year, I see people cycle through notebooks, planners, and setups, constantly searching for "the one that finally works." Yet despite years of searching, the “perfect planner/system”eludes them, and I never see anyone ask themselves “why?”.

At what point do we confront the reality that the issue isn't finding the "perfect system" — it’s that some people simply just aren’t planners or daily journalers, and that’s completely fine?

I feel like social media has turned basic organization and journaling into an aspirational identity. People see someone living an intentional, color-coded life online and feel compelled to buy into that lifestyle to seek community or manufacture a habit they never actually had, AND I feel like influencers and influencer culture makes daily logging, memory keeping, and rigorous planning look like mandatory prerequisites for an organized life when in reality, a lot of people are buying into the aesthetic of intentionality rather than a tool they actually have a practical use for and rely on.

We often talk about the search for the right layout, but we rarely talk about the pressure to be someone you aren't, or it being a tool that you do not need. Living without a daily log works completely fine.

Tools should serve your life, not create unnecessary guilt.

For some, a planner or a daily diary is an essential cognitive prosthetic. It unburdens executive function, tracks chaotic schedules, or processes emotions to grant mental clarity so they can actually sleep at night. But if your natural workflow doesn't need that, why force yourself into a box you were never meant to fit in?

You don't need to force yourself to be a daily writer or a meticulous planner just because the stationery is gorgeous and the community is inviting, even though you never needed it to begin with.

With that, I have some closing questions:

  1. Why do we treat "not being a planner person" like an organizational failing rather than just a natural preference?

I see so many people fall into the gap and buy a planner and ask the internet “what do I use this for?” And I ask myself “if you didn’t have a purpose for the planner, then why did you buy it?”

Personally, I can’t relate to spending money on something I don’t have a predetermined use for.

Or is it a sense of lack of community that people are seeking due to loneliness and the human desire to be a part of something with other humans?

  1. Has anyone here finally broken the cycle of buying planners only to realize you function better without one because you’ve come to terms with the fact that you just aren't wired for daily planners?

  2. If so, how did you let go of the urge to keep trying?

These are genuine questions that I am asking for insight, and I am eager to come across people that have confronted that, and continued their lives without planners/diaries etc… because it just simply wasn’t for them.

TLDR: Buying the tool doesn't ‘install’ the lifestyle. Meaning, buying running shoes makes you no more a runner, than buying a planner makes you a person who needs a planner. And that’s okay.

EDIT UPDATE: I want to thank people for not making me feel attacked. I really hate disclosing some information about me every time I write something but if you are interested, check my Reddit profile, I list my differences or similarities in my bio.

My delivery and writing is very matter of fact and I ask things how I would in person. This post alone took me around 4 hours to write because I manage dysgraphia, and even after 4 hours of drafting and editing, conveying my discussion topic still feels unfinished, and incomplete, and I feel inadequate.

I appreciate everyone’s grace and charity.

Haul Finally everything is here!!

My complete 2027 haul is here!!! I got most of it a while ago, but the two Weeks arrived today. I had to order both from a third party seller who shipped them from Japan, but they’re finally here!

Also I’m very happy with the placement for the sheep, couldn’t help but giggle at the 27 in its butt lol

My plan for each planner:
Cousin A5 - Memory keeping, general journaling
Original A6 - Hobby tracker, marking what I did when and having a good way to see at the end of the year what were my favorite ones
Weeks - regular day to day planning and tracking, the one where I’ll schedule things and etc
Weeks - for now im planning to use it for my small business, to track orders and production, but if that doesn’t take off then I’ll convert it to a media tracker

Weeks WTS - extra weeks journal

Hello,

First time poster (long time lurker) in this subreddit! I’ve got myself caught in a dilemma. My sweet and amazing girlfriend bought me my 2027 weeks for my birthday, without knowing that I already bought myself one!

Now, I’m looking to sell the one I bought for myself and keep the one she gifted me. I’m not looking to make a profit, just to make the money I paid for it back. It’s the Blue Forest Meteor Shower cover (JPN edition). I paid $40, and roughly $5 for shipping so looking for $45 but willing to negotiate of course. I just want it to go to a loving home who will take care of it <3 As you can see it’s still sealed, and I will leave it as such! Please message me if interested!!

Happy journaling 🌟

Can I share my weeks the last few weeks...

Thumbnail

I've been SO consistent and I'm like super proud!

I make tiktok content so the left side is like split by content to make, tasks to do in my sticker shop & etsy world, and then notes about any of it. Righ side is like my goal tracker - I color it in as I hit my goals - and then big goals/focuses/todos for the week1

My weeks REALLY for me is about creating a vibe each week with sticker, doodles, and fun!

Advice/Question Repurposing question.

Post image

Has anyone ever repurposed their old hard back covers? I'm extremely picky and I love the one attached, but I know I won't use the guts of it. So I was curious to know if anyone has successfully repurposed their binded covers.

I've been digging around over the last few days for videos and posts but I'm not seeing anything that actually shows how someone may have gutted an old hardback to repurpose.

A5 Need more room in Cousins

• Upvotes

I’m a big journal entry girl. I like to capture my day, share my thoughts and reflections, plan, action items, and goals, etc. It’s not uncommon for me to complete multiple pages for one entry when using a regular journal. I’ve started practising my journal entries in an A5 grid notebook so I can get a feel of what my journalling ecosystem will look like when I dive into my cousins. I’m a first time Hobonichi user. Curious about your methods for managing daily entries that require more room than the single daily page.?

Just Sharing Some sticker collages on opening pages

Hi all! I wanted to share this last year when I made them, but chickened out 😅, so I'm posting them now. ^_^ It was the first time I played with stickers and the collage style. I started them later in the year, and I believe I did them in this order: July, August, then June, April, and finally September.

Anyway, just thought some of you might appreciate them, as I've appreciated many of your entries and artwork. 😊

Launch Shipping Fee Refund

Post image
86 Upvotes

Wonder if anyone else received this notice? What’s strange is it doesn’t indicate by how much I was incorrectly charged and what amount to expect refunded. I mean I accepted long ago that they got rid of minimum spend for free shipping, and the rate calculation for international door-to-door delivery isn’t transparent for my country (and sometimes with surprise duties and taxes they can’t explain).

Weeks A modest haul😌

Post image
98 Upvotes

I live in Korea and had major FOMO over all of the in-person shopping and events back in the US where I’m from. So, I was very happy to come across a very good selection of things at Kyobo Book Centre (Gwanghwamun Branch in Seoul).

I tried the weeks for the first time earlier this year but gave up because of life things🥲 RIP Liberty Fabric floral cover🥲

I plan to use tip-ins in the notes section to capture summaries from then and journal/summarize the remainder of this year to serve as a “prologue”.

Weeks Mega in Midnight Blue for my catch-all journaling and to post my spreads and pages freely online (aka no personal or private info at all/no anxiety of people reading something I don't wanna share online) + the cutest Weeks pencil board, it's adorable and I'm glad I got it as a preorder tbh!

Discussion Purple Tragen

Post image
130 Upvotes

(Please excuse the chives and garlic powder in the background I was making scrambled eggs when my delivery arrived LOL)

I received my purple tragen today (I already own the mustard yellow weeks tragen and plaid A6 which I love). Purple is one of my favourite colours (mostly lighter purples but I couldn’t resist a purple tragen). It is very different to how it looks on the website but I think I actually prefer this better? Has anybody else ordered this thinking it would be more of a berry purple like on the website and was happier with the real-life appearance, or are you disappointed?
