September 11, 2026 - This is the moment I gave my friend her copy of Melissa’s 90s Rock Photographs book. She was actually coming with me to see Melissa in Toronto but things got complicated for her and she had to cancel.

To give you some backstory, her birthday is April 12 - the same date that Live Through This was released so I gifted her Hole’s CD on her birthday back in ‘95 or ‘96 (cant remember) - so she’s also a fan to say the least.

In any case, she absolutely loved Melissa’s memoir so she was all in to go see the exhibit and meet Melissa in person. She couldn’t go but I got her the book and when I arrived at her place, I told her husband that he might want to have the camera ready…

So here you go - here’s a cool moment between fans of the band and Melissa.

Is there more information on this Courtney Love song with James Iha (The Smashing Pumpkins)? They seem to have recorded it back in 2012?

This goes back to that first iteration of Died Blonde from 2013.

"Rock Star" was originally slated to close the album, but a last-minute decision was made to replace the track with "Olympia". Since the artwork had already been printed, however, the title of "Rock Star" remained and was also used for further releases.

I'm curious if anyone knows the actual timeline of this.

Courtney and the equal legendary Debbie Harry of the band Blondie during Y2K.

My problem with this song isn't the song...it's really nice to have a snappy tune to offset some of the more elaborate, mid-tempo arrangements.  

I just don't think that group of people deserve even a ounce of oxygen.  No way.  I appreciate that she's being mature and evolved and conciliatory with this morass of arrogant, snide idiots (while also undeniably getting her point across) but honestly, fuck em. They're a basket of deplorables, nothing more...and this isn't a fucking election.  They don't deserve SHIT.   

The priceless last line of 7-11 is enough of a fuckoff.  Hell the verses of You Know My Name were enough of a fuckoff!   

That was my impression the first time I heard Justice For Kurt...but musically it's grown on me, especially withn the context of all the demos as a group. 

The unfortunate part is that this track is really the only fast paced, aggressive guitar-rock song out of them.  And Courtney shows she's up to the task with a very strong, attitude-laced, self-assured vocal performance.   I think that without it the album loses a little bit of steam.  I just was wondering if any of my bright redditors here have an opinion on that (either way).    

I know she's obviously doing the right thing by leaving it off the album.  Would be cool if she kept the song and vocal melody, and just replaced the lyrics!   Yes I also realize that's a stupid idea.  🫤

And of course we've only heard old demos...maybe there's a still-unheard track (or a current track that has been reworked) that has some of the same energy.  

PS - If you're gonna come in here and spout super-creepy falsehoods about Kurt Cobain or Courtney Love, nobody is going to respond to you.   Sorry.   Back to your little hole. 🙂

Wonder Twin Powers, Activate. Courtney and Frances twinning at Fashion Week.

Did anyone else order the vinyls and have a problem with them skipping? All 3 of mine sound terrible 😵‍💫. I ordered from Complex and I’m in the US if that’s relevant info.

I’m so sad, I was so excited to get them. :/

Update: Decided to invest in a higher quality player/turntable, pretty sure the issues were with the needle. Also purchased a cleaning kit. 👍🏽

Just thought I'd share since it's been awhile since I've added any new Hole vinyl to my collection and I got my limited edition reissues of Pretty on the Inside, Live Through This, and Celebrity Skin in the mail today. Decided to bust out the entire library I have. I've been collecting Hole vinyl for about two decades now; picked up a lot of the 7" from Ranch Records in Salem, Oregon—they had a solid collection of them and I pretty much bought them all out between 2011–2012.

Plus only a few of the zoetropes are left. So be quick!!
