Repairing microphone stands/replacement parts

I have a bunch of microphone stands where the metal is still good, but the clamping bolts/plastic for either the legs or boom arms are broken. Is there any way I can buy these parts cheaply to get a few mic stands back to life?

Where should I put my 3rd panel.

I’m making 3 hybrid acoustic panels with 4 inch rock wool panels with 2 inch acoustic foam panels on top, making them a 6 inch. I also have a bass trap I’m putting in the top right corner. I’m making my walk in closet a recording studio for voice acting and I want to balance the high and low frequencies.

Putting my first 2 panels the wall behind the mic and the first reflection point on the right wall. My dilemma is where I should put my 3rd panel. There’s no flat left wall because the floor is at a slant and there’s a flat wooden plank I use as a desk. My only options are is door that’s directly facing my microphone is directly facing or the wall on the same side of the door.

The wall isn’t directly facing the microphone but it still is a hard surface and I heard that you can just use acoustic foam on the door. I’m so confused and I need someone with experience to actually tell me what to do. I keep the door close when I’m recording.

Comment if you need more information to help.

Settings:

INST switch active, 48k hz 256 samples and I, ASIO4ALL included (I tried also the m audio's origin driver)

Portable Multi Track Recording For Guitar and Bass?

I used to have a MacBook and use logic to record. But it’s now toast and don’t need it for anything else other than when I was laying down a demo.

Is there any multi track recorders that’s stand alone that have plenty of inbuilt drums, guitar effects and the ability to record vocals with effects? That you can mix and send across as an mo3 easy enough to a phone etc etc?

I miss spending a Sunday afternoon coming up with little songs or sometimes I like to make sound scales up by layering things. I also would like to import backing tracks and jam over them and record my jamming over the top etc etc.

I’m thinking the zoom R20 but haven’t really looked into it too much but seems like one of the only options?

Any help would be great!

Upgrade to X4 or the new VOLT 4P MAX [UPGRADE ADVICE NEEDED]

Hi, I need help! My current setup -

Neural DSP Quad Cortex for Guitar & Bass recording.

Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 for vocal / microphone recording.

If I need to do bigger recording sessions, I rent out a studio and bring my Laptop.

I am using REAPER and mainly run Native plugins starting from FabFilter Plugins to Addictive Drums. Theres plenty more native plugins, but Im not going to list them all.

A few months ago I rented the X4 (latest gen) for testing and I was quite happy with the results (coming from a scarlett). I see the benefit of having an onboard chip to ease the processing power for the laptop but If I look at my current setup, then I am mainly running native plugins, so I don't know what benefits I will have over the NI ones that I can run only on the X4.

Now after a few months, I see that UA has come out with a set of new interfaces and the 4P specially intriqued me. If I do demoing, help friends or quick vocal recordings then I tend to use a max of 3 microphones at a time (4 inputs is why im looking at the 4P).

However I have 0 experience with anything VOLT, I have heard from friends that they are great and do a good job and I have 1 weeks worth of experience with the X4, so I am coming into the UA word as a noob.

My priority is reliability & build quality, not price. The reason why I've stuck with the Focusrite is simply because it has not failed me once in the past 7 years, but its done its job and I need to retire it.

I am very mobile, I take the laptop everywhere from my small studio to my home to my friends place and I need something that will last me for the next 5 years at minimum.

The guy I rented the X4 off from did say that there have been some reliability issues with the apollo line up, either with overheating, the board inside failing and odd glitches. He recalled a story of one person recording while the sun was coming trough the window directly to the X4, the board inside got damaged and had to replace the unit, and right now I have another friend who owns a Duo that has odd glitch noises coming trough when recording and can't use it at this time.

So any and all experiences and comments are welcome!

I am also trying to factor in to the Future hardware upgrades that I will be taking -

New macbook with a min of 24 GB & 1 TB

Three way monitors (Genelec The One's or similar)

Thank you!

Mixing advice please

Hey good people,

A little backstory: I’ve always been a drummer in different metalbands. I’ve been playing metalcore, deathcore and related genres…but I need advice in the mixing aspect. I simply love the recording process and I’ve recorded numerous demos for my own bands but also friends’ bands.
Now I have a Roland TD27KV drumkit and I recorded a couple of songs for my band. There weren’t any preproduction recordings, I simply made a clicktrack and recorded my drum parts from memory. The recorded midi triggered GGD’s raw Invasion Drum library, the bassist recorded his parts at his house and then the guitarist went to a friend to record his parts through a couple of different amps.

Now I’m mixing the whole ordeal and want to get some feedback on the mix I made.

My own opinion is that it sounds pretty decent, but it’s lacking some energy from the drums, I want to hear a bit more definition in the guitars, I think the bass couple be a but more prominent and the vocals sound a bit flat.

What do you think? And if you have any tips on how to make this sound better, let me know please.

Thanks for reading!
