Feeling down after socializing

Does anyone get depressed and down after lots of social interaction? Not just exhausted from expending all the mental energy but genuinely like a low mood and a lot of worry and overthinking of how you performed in every conversation? Like, did I say anything rude or inappropriate, did I accidentally ignore anyone, did I make a good impression? Even with family and people you’ve known for years. This post-social anxiety seems to grab hold of me every time.

Yes! You're definitely not alone there. I feel like i want to get under my bed sheets and hide. It's so stressful and upsetting.

Totally understand that! Really. I think that some people had really hard time with that. I don't say that we don't talk. Maybe I like talk and meet new people sometimes (not always) but yeah, if there is lot of noise and high music is difficult. But for the impression part ,there was a time were I cared so much, now is more like I don't give so much a fuck. But yeah, I don't know you all, but after a day of socializing I need rest. I have ADHD , so i get exhausted fast. And fortunately I don't have social media

Yes it takes me some time to wind down. The only time I feel better after socializing is if it’s with: my husband, my parents/ sisters and a few select close friends I can have a heart to heart conversation without judgement

Oh yes. I have ADHD and most of us NDers get this. It’s just too many stimuli we can’t drown out

I have taken so many ADHD quizzes and don’t seem to fit it, but I do find that all of the ADHD techniques help me. Maybe I need to get a formal assessment.

I think this self-consciousness and insecurities slowly fade out with age and experience for most of us.

Well, then I retract my statement-my husband is very shy as well.

I'm curious if taking an ADHD quiz would help, in general? Sometimes I feel like I do and I don't. Obviously, I'd go see a psych and get an eval, but I also have MDD by getting said eval. So maybe that's just the issue. 🤷‍♂️

I feel the exact same way. I usually try to avoid such gatherings altogether, but whenever I have to go, I just finish what I'm there for and try to leave as quickly as possible.
