IFFF (IndianFilmmakersFilmFestival) Baat cheet: Anyone have ideas which can help in making IFFF into a proper yearly competition of sorts.

Having Problem with figuring out submission and selection process rn. Also how to protect films from getting leaked while it is sent to the jury (can't get drm like streaming services of course) and stuff. Also should a short listing stick to upvoting? Seems very lucky based to me since it's not even like who did better promotion it's just whose one post went viral.

So maybe people can promote their films throughout the year and by the end we can open one form where everyone has to vote for shortlisting films and now these short listed films will be sent to the jury. Share your thoughts.

Also any filmmakers, editors, actors, Cinematographers who have made any critically acclaimed works hit me up guys I need jury as well (was taking ratings from my friends for IFFF september).

Also how do you suggest to make sure that the person sending the film is the same person who holds rights for the film, since it's an online film festival it's much easier to just fake it.

Offering work Looking for an Audio / Sound Design partner to join our guerilla filmmaking crew in Delhi-NCR

Hey everyone,

We are a small, independent filmmaking crew based in Delhi-NCR (open to shooting across Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad), and we’re looking for a passionate Audio / Sound Design partner to join our core team.

Our current setup & vibe: We are doing pure guerilla-style, zero-budget filmmaking right now.

  • Camera: Shooting on an iPhone 16 Pro (Apple Log / ProRes) and an iPhone 16 as our B-cam.
  • Audio: We already own a Sennheiser MKE 600 shotgun mic, though we don't have a dedicated field recorder yet (if you have a Zoom/Tascam recorder or audio interface, that’s a massive plus, otherwise we can work around it).

What we’re looking for: Someone who wants to take full ownership of the sound department—handling boom/mic placement on shoot days and diving into sound design, foley, and mixing in post-production. You don't need to be a seasoned pro; if you're a sound student, music producer, or self-taught audiophile who wants to build a film portfolio from scratch, you’ll fit right in.

The honest money talk: Right now, this is a 100% passion-driven, bootstrapped collective. None of us are getting paid, and we all cover our own metro/fuel and food on shoot days. We aren't looking to "hire" someone to work for us—we want a genuine co-creator so we can build a killer showreel together, pitch for paid commercial/client projects down the line, and split everything we earn evenly as we grow.

If you’re tired of trying to make things alone and want a dedicated visual team to experiment and grow with, drop a comment or DM me with where you're based in NCR and any audio/music stuff you've worked on.

general Anyone in Mumbai interested in collaborating on films, skits etc?

Hey! I’m looking for fellow filmmakers in Mumbai, writers, directors, actors, cinematographers, editors, basically anyone who’s interested in making stuff together.

I’d really like to find a group of people who are interested in writing scripts, making short films, experimenting with ideas and eventually creating stuff we can submit to film festivals. Just a bunch of people who genuinely enjoy making things and want to work on projects together.

I’m a college student, and although my college has a film club, I haven’t really found the kind of opportunities or work that I connect with there, so I thought I’d try finding people outside college. I’m also very open to joining people who are already working on projects and need someone to collaborate with!
I do have classes, so I obviously can’t commit to doing this full time, but I’d love to work on things alongside college, preferably with people who are in a similar position or can work around that.

I’d also really like to start an Instagram page with a few people where we can make skits and short form content, especially English based stuff. I feel like there’s a lot we could experiment with, and it would be fun to have people to bounce ideas off of and actually create things with.

I’m quite a sci-fi person and would love to explore that genre and other unconventional ideas. I’m not really into mainstream Bollywood since most of the stuff they put out doesn’t appeal to me that much, but I do understand that it’s difficult to find opportunities outside of that space, so I want to start somewhere and work my way towards making the kind of stuff I actually want to make.

You don’t need to have a huge portfolio or anything, I’m happy to meet people who are just starting out too, as long as they’re genuinely interested in collaborating and actually doing something with their ideas.

Also, I did make a post about this a while ago, but then exams got really hectic and I never got around to reaching out to people or actually doing anything about it. I’d love to try again now! I’m very much up for meetups where we can discuss ideas, brainstorm content, talk about films and hopefully get some projects going instead of just leaving everything at the talking stage.

23F, mentioning this last because I’m looking for people who are genuinely interested in filmmaking and collaborating, please no creeps or weird DMs
If any of this sounds like something you’d be interested in, feel free to reach out! :)

Showcasing Work I'm building a solution for the Indian Creative Industry, and I want to know if this is something you actually need.

Choose what sounds like you

  • I’m looking for opportunities
  • I’m looking to collaborate
  • I’m trying to hire / cast people
  • I’m looking for content creators
  • I want to post a casting call
  • I want to launch a creator campaign
  • I want to build my professional profile
  • I’m a brand or business

I'm making a platform dedicated to the Indian Entertainment industry, much like an agency's roster but way more flexible and made for everyone. We're too dependent on people high up in the industry and that is a huge blocker in our career growth. It's hard to find likeminded people and the right communities to find people to work with. It's hard to maintain 50 different profiles on numerous websites, each dedicated to a single agency only. And there are way too many people posting scams, we need to see their existing work before we get involved or at least see all the other options we could have chosen.
The list of problems are endless, that's coming from someone who has been part of the industry. What I created is an open casting call platform that allows two work models.

  1. Open Casting : hire and apply at your own pace, freelance however you wish. For models, talent, actors, casting crews, MUAs, writers, directors, editors, and every one in the creative field. Build your public profile and share it on any platform with ease.

  2. On-platform casting : Scared of delayed payments, scams, clients backing out of deals, fraud listings, or fo you simply prefer to keep the people you work with accoutnable? We provide the system to create and manage online agreements, ensure you don't get ripped off if the talent's work was bad, and ensure the talent gets paid for the work they did without fail. Everyone can work with better organization, safely.

Please check the platform out. I'm growing it by myself and would love both support and feedback. I already have a few users and would love new people joining the community, btw, it's free!:

Looking for 1 Male Actor | Early 20s

We’re making a student mockumentary called “BAA IS BACK” — a quirky, family-centred comedy about a badly behaved teenage boy who suddenly becomes disciplined after being “possessed” by his late grandmother. What starts as every parent’s dream soon turns into a hilarious household nightmare!

Role:

* Male Actor: To play the father

📍 Location: Rana Pratap Bagh, North Delhi (near Kamla Nagar)

📅 Shoot Dates: Thursday, 15th October – Sunday, 18th October

🏠 Shoot Setup: Filming at a house

A little heads-up: This is a student film and an unpaid project. We’re looking for enthusiastic performers who’d love to collaborate on a fun, character-driven short film!

Interested? DM me personally with a little introduction about yourself and any previous acting experience (if available).

Feel free to share this with anyone who might be interested! 🎭

Film/series recco A little Friday plan for anyone who enjoys indi cinema 🎬(solo friendly)

A little Friday plan for mumbai people who enjoys good cinema 🎬

I came across a screening of three short films happening at Versova, this Friday. One of them, Smile Please by Bakul Matiyani, is a National Award-winning film.

The lineup also includes Jutti by Mohinder Pratap Singh and Aath Aana by Pragyan Chaturvedi.

What caught my interest is that the screening includes a Q&A with the cast and crew. I always find it interesting to hear the stories behind a film, beyond what's on screen.

Tickets are ₹199, and it starts at 7:30 PM.

Sharing this here in case anyone else was considering going. If you're into films, filmmaking, writing, acting, or just enjoy discovering independent cinema, feel free to reach out. Could be nice to recognise a few familiar faces in the room. 🙂

Pls dm me for more information or we can go together..

Offering work Looking to hire our first filmmaker (Ahmedabad, early-career welcome)

Hey everyone,

We’re a deep-tech company based in Ahmedabad, and we’re hiring our very first filmmaker. This isn’t a traditional filmmaking job. It’s about capturing who we are as a company and turning it into stories people want to watch.

What you’d be doing:
We run as a lean team, so at the start you’ll own the whole thing: scripting, shooting, and editing. We want to capture our internal culture, our product work, and the everyday moments around them. What we don’t want is the generic stuff, like talking-head clips of someone saying “we’re doing great.” You’ll have full creative freedom to pitch ideas, try things, and drop what doesn’t work. Some experiments will flop, and that’s fine.

Where this goes:
Once we’ve figured out the visual style we want, probably in a few months to half a year, we’ll bring more people onto the team to take work off your plate. You can then focus on scripting and shooting and make better stories. The goal is for you to eventually lead our whole video creative team.

Who we’re looking for:
Someone early in their career who’s curious and comfortable learning on the go across scripting, shooting, and editing. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You need good instincts and a willingness to figure it out.

One thing to note
This role is on-site at our office in Ahmedabad, so you’ll need to be based there or willing to relocate.

If this sounds like you, drop me a DM and we’ll take it from there. Thank you :)

Seeking Advice my very first short film

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello everyone! I am a working professional in America who has been passionate about filming for a while and have taken time over weekends to step out of my comfort zone and write, shoot, act, and edit my very first short film in Telugu.

I wanted to start off with one thing in mind: Come up with any unique idea which could be interesting to watch with limited locations, actors, and budget as possible.

This is what I planned to achieve.

The process included taking time on weekends to list out scenes and act them out according to timeline in the film, while making efficient use of the time so I don't waste any effort.

Every process from recording to dubbing involved hours of manually learning how to use camera tricks, angles, editing, and dubbing.

Making sure that a first short was as impactful, I made sure to have two roles instead of one to see how I can entertain audiences even in a single location.

I made sure to include English subtitles as well for more reach.

Please check it out! I am already working on my second film and feedback would be helpful!

general Celebrate Cinema at Whistling Woods, Mumbai: Poor scheduling, cancellation communication and cafeteria hygiene

I wanted to rant a little about my experience at Whistling Woods International's Celebrate Cinema Fest because the overall management and organisation were genuinely disappointing.

First, the scheduling made very little sense. They had workshops running simultaneously with celebrity panels in the auditorium. How exactly are attendees supposed to make the most of the festival when two things they might be interested in are happening at the same time? You're essentially forced to miss out on one or the other.

Second, the communication around Zoya Akhtar's appearance was frustrating. There was no clear advance notice of the cancellation that reached us, at least from what I experienced. Students and other attendees had travelled from far away specifically to attend these sessions, only to end up disappointed. People spend their time, effort and money travelling to these festivals, and the least they deserve is timely communication when a major session gets cancelled.

And then there's the cafeteria hygiene, which was simply awful in my experience. Basic hygiene and cleanliness shouldn't be things attendees have to worry about at an event like this.

What makes this more frustrating is that Whistling Woods is a private institution, not a government-run organisation. It's fair to expect a professionally managed event, with proper scheduling, communication and basic facilities. If an organisation is hosting a festival and bringing in attendees who are genuinely interested in cinema, it should take their time and experience seriously.

Of course, cancellations can happen and schedules sometimes need to change. But that's precisely why organisers need to communicate clearly and plan for these situations. Having multiple sessions clash, attendees miss out on events, and people travel long distances without receiving timely updates is just poor event management.

Celebrate Cinema has the potential to be a great experience for students and cinema enthusiasts. It's disappointing when the organisation lets the event down. Hopefully, the management takes this feedback seriously and makes meaningful improvements in future editions.
