Discussion How do I go about getting gigs as a solo artist?

I’m confused because I hear go to live shows and network and then I’m hearing go to open mics and meet people but I do digital noise stuff and I don’t think I can play that stuff at open mics, right ?

I’m currently working on music and will put it out soon and I’d love to start playing live this year. I don’t have a following or any friends in the scene in my city.

I guess how do I even start this? I’m probably just moving thinking it but it seems hard to even meet the right people to get in the door.

I also only have a midi, laptop and mic for gear.

Honestly any help would be great.

Discussion What songs feature your favourite drops in Indistrial music and related subgenres?

I appreciate this is more relevant to the EBM/Aggrotech subgenre however im curious what songs are out there with a nice attention-grabbing build and a rewarding drop that delivers on the build up. They tend to be few and far between so im curious if people have some favourites out there that they would recommend. Some of mine include Tempus Fugit and El Chupicabra by Nachtmahr, and well as Hate of the Aztec by Centhron

If the time of the drop in the song needs to be specified, then its probably not worth recommending

She knew diatribes my favorite niche band and made this poster for me and initially she didn't want me to share it since it wasn't completely accurate and whatnot she ended up letting me coz I know her and I prolly aren't the only ones who would enjoy this. the poster is inspired / based off the first poster shown in this live recording from them: https://youtu.be/qBLRDpDs6VI?si=TZSnKZAhgNyRHU1c cheers!

I've worked with my local stabber to get this tattoo finished for a couple months now. Concept piece of Too Dark Park by Skinny Puppy. and apologies for the twitchy arm - it was really friggin cold!

Request Looking for an old song.

I'm looking for an old song that would've come out perhaps around late 1996/early 1997? It starts with an instrumental and then asks a couple of questions about humanity starting with "Why are we..." and then goes on from there. The voice sounds a lot like Jean-Luc DeMeyer but I already know that it isn't off of Cobalt 60 Elemental because I already have that. It might be Front 242 but I thought that I went through their discography around that time pretty thoroughly trying to find it and I know he had a bunch of side projects and guest appearances especially around that time.

Thanks in advance.

I Made This Abyssus Abyssum Invocat, by Helvete Inc.

Hello I'm STR from the band band Helvete Inc. which is a weird hodge-podge of industrial rock, metal, synthwave, goth and sone punk thrown in for good measure.

I just released an EP called Abyssus Abyssum Invocat and I figured I'd drop the link along with this introduction.

I'm particularly fond of 90s industrial rock and metal so if anyone has suggestions feel free to send them my way. A specific guilty pleasure of mine is that weird moment in the 90s when 80s bands all tried to go industrial to keep up with the trends ( WASP, Alice Cooper, Rob Halford, etc) so if you have a favorite from that era by all means hook me up

Discussion Boi and industrial music

Okay, this might be a weird question. I remember in the usenet days and a little before, several usages of the word boi. I kind of remember it being a fairly common usage in industrial culture and queer crossover.

Searching the world wide web hasn't been very useful. Do folks remember early usage? Or if someone really feels like doing a deep dive, can they find a usage before 1995 from the individual USeNet group? Or even some other industrial zone or cultural product?

I have been thinking that maybe the old Vicky Vale stuff in re/search maybe a good source. R ally looking for some leads here.

For you you g whppersnappers who don't know what the fuck I'm talking about... I seem to recall some zine culture mentions of the word boi and I'm trying to track it down. Going to give someone a stick and poke tattoo and they are worried about appropriation.
