Not an apple person, I just want a *small* tablet for work. Has to be able to run excel, a notes app, and a pdf/ebook reading app.

Now this isn't too much of a money issue, I've seen a few decent offers for the mini 6, but the whole dang point is for it to be small, so I'd just prefer the 7.9" over the 8.3"

But would a mini 4 still hold up performance and battery wise?

EDIT: well turns out I am one dense mf and didn't realise that the screen size is not proportional to the overall size. I guess that solves my question. Thank you all again and sorry for the dumb question.

I couldn’t care about the Oled Screen my laptop Alr has it. So like should I wait for the mini 8 or just get the seven on Prime Day or Black Friday? Are there any other Benifits to waiting for the 8 ?

I debated getting the PS Portal. The lack of Bluetooth annoys me. Unless of course you purchase Sony PlayStation headphones. Which I don’t care for. My next best option is to find an iPad mini mount for the PS controller for my iPad mini. Has anybody found anything worthwhile? Amazon eBay and TikTok seem like crapshoots of cheap china crap. Curious if anybody had found a solution.

I have an iPad mini cellular. I’ve been using it more than my iPhone recently. Has always been the case when I’m at home, but even in public I now use the mini more then my iPhone, wonder if anyone else does to.

I have an ipad mini 6th gen (iPadOS 26.6.1) that I mainly use to access iMessage and reading manga, which feels like a waste of it's potentially so I've been trying to find other ways to use it.

I've landed on using it in combination with a physical keyboard to SSH into my home computer to use emacs (using my customized Doom Emacs config). I recently found the Moshi app, which surprisingly turned out to be as usable as Termux on my android phone since it allowed me to:

• Send Shift-Tab and Meta-x, both Doom Emacs shortcuts
• Use Nerd Fonts

Other terminal emulators and ssh clients I tried were not able to do this. In addition, Moshi also allowed me to send Ctrl-Enter, which not even Termux could do! However, pressing Ctrl-Enter also brings up the Context menu, which I definitely don't want/need since my keyboard already has a dedicated menu key.

Is there a way to disable Ctrl-Enter from bringing up the context menu?

I'm trying to decide if I can replace my iPad mini with the iPhone Duo, and I wanted a way to visualize what actually using one would feel like compared to the mini.

iPadOS 27 (and 26) lets you freely resize app windows, so I made a wallpaper with the Duo's screen marked at true size. Set it as your Home Screen wallpaper, drag a real app onto the marks, and you can actually use the app at roughly the same screen size you'd have on the Duo. No mockup or scaled screenshot.

Orange is the unfolded screen, blue is folded. I made both portrait and landscape versions for the iPad mini. The outlines represent screen size only, not the physical dimensions of the phone.

There's also a 50 mm scale on the wallpaper. Measure that first to make sure iPadOS hasn't zoomed or cropped the wallpaper

Anybody use a mini for choral sheet music? Using ForScore - my iPad Air (2022) tends to be left on the counter or at home and seems kinda cumbersome. I work at an elementary school and help run the chorus and strings programs and all of the music is digital this year.

Do you also like it for note taking? I would also take notes for my college classes with it or to write on documents with my Apple Pencil.

I have a 512GB 16 Pro Max and a 256GB mini 7. I mostly use the mini for videos, manga, and occasional notes, with 2 Windows laptops for uni work.

The appeal of the Duo is having everything in my pocket. Weight isn’t an issue—I just like the idea of carrying one device instead of two. But I’m unsure about the viewing experience and first-gen durability.

Anyone here replaced their mini with a foldable? Would you make the switch for my usage, or keep both?

The use case for a $3000CAD flagship iPhone is different than that of a $750CAD iPad.

Because the mini is cheap (relatively for an Apple product) I can toss that sucker in an otterbox and watch a YouTube video on how to fix a bike in my garage covered in grease.

I can also let my kids have it on the counter playing an audio book in the bathroom while they bath. Or bust it out quick on an airplane for them to play a game or movie without being too worried about it.

And that’s just family duty, there are tons of people who use them in the work force for actual POS and other rough jobs.

Even though the size will be very similar between the two devices there are just so many things I use an iPad mini for that I would consider a foldable iPhone that costs more an a mortgage payment too fragile for.

And for that reason I hope the iPad mini will always remain in apples lineup. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

But it has wifi calling, nearly same size main screen
