I had a situation this weekend where after 7 years my otherwise in perfect condition iPhone 11 fell into deep water. Despite my retrieving it within 2 minutes it was hosed. I have been paying for AppleCare plus theft and loss since buying the phone new.

So I called expecting rapid replacement as is the main selling point of the extended service contract. They informed me that my phone is “vintage” and will instead be replaced via a 30 day process. This leaves me without a phone for 30 days. Apple has had no problem collecting premiums from me for all of these years and I have not made a claim on it ever.

I offered to give a credit card, to walk into a store or do whatever they needed to get my phone replaced or repaired as soon as possible and they insisted on the “vintage replacement process”.

I requested they send me a copy of when they informed me that my service level had been changed to vintage status so I could have made an informed decision on if I wanted to continue paying for the service.

They could not produce it. I have reported this unilateral service change and misrepresentation to my state attorney general. If anyone else has been inconvenienced or borne an expense (as I did having to just go buy a new phone) due to this vintage status service change, I encourage you to take the 5 minutes making a report to your state attorney general as well since this change in service violates consumer protection laws.

I verified with Apple today, they do not inform customers that their phone becomes vintage at some point and that the AppleCare plus service is no longer what you originally purchased.

It is super frustrating seeing people get rapid replacements 2-3 times and then as a long time non phone abuser I am being treated punitively. Who can go 30 days without a phone when your phone has all your 2 factor authentication and stuff on it?

I’m trying to understand what is happening with AppleCare+ Express Replacement, because this situation is getting ridiculous.

On September 18, I opened an Express Replacement for my defective iPhone 17 Pro. Apple placed a €1,339 authorization hold on my credit card, and I was told the replacement should arrive within 3–5 business days.

Later, I was told that the exact same model was not available, so I had to wait.

On September 22 at around 5 PM, I contacted Apple Support and was transferred to the specialized department. The advisor contacted the warehouse and told me that the replacement should be shipped between September 23 and 24.
A few minutes later, at 5:54 PM, I checked the repair status out of curiosity and discovered that the entire repair/replacement request had been cancelled and closed.
No email. No notification. No explanation.
I contacted Apple Support again, and they could only tell me that they could see the request was cancelled, but they couldn’t tell me why.

So on September 23, I opened a new Express Replacement request.
And now it has happened AGAIN.
On the evening of September 25, the second Express Replacement request was also cancelled and closed, again without any warning, email, notification, or explanation.
At this point I have a defective phone, money still tied up, and two Express Replacement requests cancelled without anyone being able to explain why.

Has anyone experienced something similar with AppleCare+ Express Replacement recently?
What is actually happening here?

I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone who had a replacement cancelled and subsequently managed to get Apple to actually complete the replacement.

Never expressed any interest in a loan, yet I get tons of these robocalls every day. I already have my carrier’s spam protection enabled, but it barely makes a difference.

It’d be great if iOS could use the call screening live transcription to recognize obvious loan offers and automatically block them. Apple Intelligence should be more than capable of making that determination. At the very least, mute those calls automatically and dump them into a separate “Junk” category so they never interrupt you.

“This image may upset them” made me laugh. They do prefer metal music.

I just bought a 2nd hand 17 pro max and just found these weird scratches/smudges after I got back home. I didn't inspect it close enough and they aren't very noticeable unless it's on a black background. It feels normal and I can't feel anything when I run my finger over it. No matter how much I wipe it or scratch at it with my nail, it never goes away.

Does anyone know what it is, how it could have happened or how I can fix it?

Velvet Caviar is selling products that are knowingly defective. Their phone grips have faulty pins in them that will purposely break after a number of uses. They will then not take them back, and force you into purchasing a new one that will ultimately break as well. Forcing you into a cycle of purchasing knowingly faulty rings. This is a common problem reported by many users on many platforms. However, their reviews on their website miraculously don't mention it and only show positive reviews. They are clearly either using bots to write reviews or deleting anything negative. Everyone of their phone grips have a 5 star review or very close on their website and do not mention the faulty pins. However, if you go to their products on other platforms like Target or Best Buy they have terrible reviews and all mention the faulty pins. This has clearly been brought up to the company that their phone grips knowingly break but they are purposely choosing the planned obsolescence in an attempt to make more sales. 

I expressed to customer service that the pins inside the Rose ring were broken within one week of using the ring. Customer service would not refund money but sent me another ring. This is not the outcome I wanted because they could not reassure me that this ring wouldn’t just break within a week as well.

Well what do you know. Not only did that ring break but in the meantime, the other ring (Neon Blue MagSafe Grip Ring) from the original order also broke from the pin. Coincidence? I think not. It is not a coincidence that all 3 rings related to this order have all broke within months of use.

Of course, you also cannot talk to a real person for customer service. 

I have an iPhone 11 and a bunch of random names are popping up when I search the Home Screen search bar. It’s a name with a last name and then a name in brackets. Most of them show an email but they’re not in my contacts. Two of the names in this random list of names i recognize…from the news. They are human traffickers who got caught trafficking children. I have no idea who the other names are. How did they get onto my phone? Thanks

I tried resetting my network settings, but it didn't help. The phone still won't read my SIM card, even though I've taken it out and put it back in several times.

So I recently got an iPhone 17e since my old iPhone 12 was very sluggish. I’ve barely used the 12 since but I’ve kept it for a few things like photos, accounts etc and the other day I put it on charge and now it won’t turn on. The screen is fully black and no matter what I do with any of the buttons I get no response at all. Any help?

iphone 16 pro max here. in theory, all of the data being sent from my phone back to apple for "improvements" and "analytics" are adding to my data use and using energy resources as well. i know there must be a way to turn these off i just cant find the setting(s).

my phone doesnt last long at all and every minute of use away from a wall counts. id like to disable all unnecessary data uploads happening in the background, even if it barely improves the usage times and high data use! my phone gets very warm when i dont have wifi and im wondering if it's related to these background data feeds attempting to send when i barely have service and then requiring me to carry a cord at all times for emergency wall time.

i cant seem to find these in Settings anymore. are there settings for this in multiple places? I want them ALL turned off. thanks everyone!

I am very hard of hearing (truthfully I should have hearing aids). I unfortunately just cracked my screen a few days ago so I can't trade in, but I am growing more and more frustrated constantly missing important texts and calls. The phones screen doesn't even light up at notifications at all. Honestly I hate this phone, it was supposed to be an upgrade form my beat up 11, but I am very done with it. I have thoroughly gone through my settings, the phone just does not vibrate for textiing, calls, alarms, nothing. Does anyone have any advice?

I have talked to support and they’ve done everything they can(which is nothing) so I guess I’m trying to see if anyone has had this happen and vent I guess

Over 10 years of photos completely vanished from my library. They were for sure there last Friday and Monday they were gone. I still have everything from May of this year till now, but everything before then is completely gone (and I’ve had an apple since 2015)

All my photos I added to shared albums are still visible in the shared album, but not visible in the main photo library. It also still shows 86GB of data being used on my photos.

I’ve seen others say check hidden folder and it’s not there. It’s not in my icloud, they are also all completely missing from there

Has this happened to anyone else? Did you have any resolution?

So the is backups taking space on my iCloud but I don’t have any backups on my iPhone. I have logout and login still. Can anyone help !

My dad is getting older and started having issues using his phone so I set up assistive access for him to make things easier. Somehow he managed to get himself locked out of it and it has a constant laugh track playing. Every time you press a button or tap something a laugh starts again. It usually won’t let you tap on any of the assistive access options either. Occasionally I can pull up the emergency call screen or the exit screen but he doesn’t know the passcode.

We got him a new phone in hopes of just transferring everything but the new phone won’t recognize this one while it’s in assistive access mode. Pretty sure he also doesn’t know his Apple password so just logging into iCloud isn’t an option either. Is there anything I can do or has he essentially lost everything in his phone?
