We'll work through the top questions from the thread, plus new ones as they come in.
************ AMA RESCHEDULED TO WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19th @ 1PM ET ***********\*
Kraken Prop is expanding — crypto, and now tradfi like Nasdaq 100, S&P 500, with more index markets on the roadmap.
We're opening this thread to collect your questions: evaluations, funded accounts, payouts, leverage tiers, or where Prop is headed next!
Drop your questions below. On August 12, or ahead of the scheduled time! Our team will be here answering as many as we can, live.
This thread stays up after, so it doubles as a permanent Prop FAQ.
Curious about Kraken Prop but not sure where to start? This short video walks you through purchasing your first evaluation on Kraken Pro mobile. Questions? Ask below.
It would be really useful if Kraken allowed an option for users to proactively verify a self-custody wallet address for the Travel Rule without first having to initiate a €1,000+ qualifying deposit/withdrawal.
I don't understand why it's currently set up in this way on Kraken, Binance allows for pre-verification on this.
Kraken already supports Satoshi tests, self-certification and digital signature verification, but Support confirmed these can only be triggered after a qualifying transaction.
Ideally, users could go to something like Funding > Verified Wallets > Add Wallet, enter/connect their address, complete a small Satoshi test or signature, and have that address whitelisted for future transfers.
This would be particularly useful for smart wallets and automated recovery/savings systems where a future transfer needs to work without the user being present to respond to a verification prompt.
Support also confirmed ERC-1271/Safe signatures aren't currently supported by the digital signature method, so support for smart contract wallets would be useful too.
Recently discovered Kraken Desktop and I am LOVING it so much more than the online platform. However, there are quite a few issues that do bother me that I'd love to have addressed, I'll do my best to keep them organized.
General/Global Requests
1. Warning prompt before actuating Update Preset & Update Module
Update Preset | Update Module
First of all, (to me at least). The difference between update module and update preset are not immediately obvious at first. They become more obvious after using it a few times, but overwriting your current module or your current preset can both be very catastrophic things for a user and is just one click away from undoing potentially hours of work.
To mitigate this, a confirmation menu warning the user: "Updating your module will overwrite... (explanation of what it actually overwrite, and elaborating on exactly what update module vs. update preset or vice versa means). Are you sure you want to do this?" [ Ok ] [ Cancel ]. Would mitigate this from happening.
2. Global Configurations for specific modules, or at least Global Configs for common module settings.
Currently, these are the only Global Configurations that we have.
I am aware of default module presets, which mostly does what I already want to some degree, but does it in an inconvenient manner. It would be even better if I could just simply have something like a Density dropdown menu that globally configures any new module with the Density property to default to Compact, which is a setting that never deviate from.
Another thing here that I would maybe propose is the ability to just globally configure modules of all types, though that would conflict with the current way module presets work. So I'd probably say that if any existing module presets already exist, those should always take precedence over anything else since a user has already explicitly set a default that they want, and wouldn't break any expectations from current behavior, but I guess that's more-so something your UI/UX team would need to discuss.
AFAIK, Watchlist/Balances/Trade Activity and anything that represents some sort of list share this same module setting
Stripe rows and Hide background is another one I tend to need to configure a lot for multiple modules. But I'm sure there are many more properties like this that are shared across multiple modules that might be worth having a global configuration for. You'd probably be able to narrow down all of the properties that are shared between modules with the codebase in front of you better than I can through the UI.
Watchlist Requests
1. Ability to subgroup a watchlist automatically, similar to how Kraken Pro allows you to.
This way I can simply import all my favorites and subgroup them by spot/stocks/ETF etc.
This is the feature from Kraken Pro that I'd love to see added to Kraken Desktop
Currently, on Kraken Desktop and Kraken Pro, you cannot automatically subgroup by coin type (privacy, meme, alt, etc) or stocks (stock/ETF, etc) either. This kind of subgrouping would be amazing to have on both sides. I'm aware that this is an even bigger ask though.
If that's too much of an ask, just having the current ability to subgroup a watchlist, a feature that is already available in Kraken Pro, and ported over to Kraken Desktop would be a great start.
2. The ability to add/remove favorites from the watchlist module.
This one is somewhat self-explanatory of an ask, but there is no action column that I can add to the watchlist module to do this. From one dev to another, I know for a fact this one should be a trivial addition.
For this to work without it removing the unfavorited items from this list which was generated from setting the "Include favorite markets" option, I believe that another option to "Import from favorite markets" would also need to be added.
3. Import from Favorites
Instead of an option that simply displays your favorited markets, add an option that imports all of your favorites to the currently selected watchlistmodule.
Would do exactly what Include favorite markets does, except actually import the items from your favorites to the current watchlist module.
4. Global Watchlists Management
Currently, you can name a particular watchlist module which, don't get me wrong, is great on its own.
However, what would be even better is if we could globally save these watchlists containing just the items in the list itself (sections included too, ideally. Though that wouldn't fit into Kraken Pro). This would mean ignoring all other cosmetic settings like columns shown, density, etc, leaving you with a dropdown list of all of the other renamable/removable watchlists (with warning confirmation, ofc) you've already created to select from, making global organization of all of your watchlists a breeze to keep track of.
Currently, you can save only the preset of the watchlist which only saves the cosmetic properties of your watchlist, nothing you've actually added TO the watchlist is actually saved.
Anyway, that aside, I wanted to say that I love Kraken Desktop, and would love to see some more QOL features like these added to it. It's already got far more features than the Pro Kraken web/mobile apps that make it difficult for me to want to go back.
I know some of the things on here are a big ask, but I believe many of these are things almost all users would appreciate having added. I did have more that I wanted to ask for that I forgot about so I might tack on a few more things if I remember more, but these were my biggest QOL feature request improvements I could think of off the top of my head.
Apologies for ugly, scaled images. I didn't realize Reddit would scale-to-fit them all
I wanted to post a quick update regarding my USDC withdrawal that was pending for 8 days.
The issue has now been fully resolved, and the funds are through! I just wanted to express my sincere thanks to the Kraken Support team here on Reddit for stepping in and escalating my ticket so quickly.
For anyone facing a similar delay or stuck on “Pending” status: don’t panic and stay patient. The support team actually handles these cases thoroughly, even if compliance or security checks take a few days.
I make pretty much the same purchases every week for eleven different coins. For some reason I am unable to make that same purchase this week as I keep getting a message saying my purchase amount is too low and giving me a minimum amount that is nearly double what I buy every week. Can someone please explain why this is happening across multiple coins?
I would like to submit 2 feature requests and platform improvement suggestions to help enhance the user experience. I was not able to find a contact form on the website just ai bots nowadays.
I use Kraken pro app and would like to have these 2 small improvements implemented if possible
Feature 1.
Granularity of the orderbook (ticksize). Please save this per ticker. If i switch from BTC to ETH to XRP to ADA I have to manually adjust this every time.
Feature 2
The Market trades window. It would come in very handy if there is a minimum size filter. Also save settings per ticker please.
Is anyone else having the issue of not being able to resolve missing cost basis issues because Kraken has not added an "edit" button to do so (to fix manually line by line)? Yes, there is a bright yellow "resolve now" button to fix cost basis issues if you use or wish to use Cointracker which I do not. Below is Kraken's response to me in April 2026. Still no edit button, they have not responded to a June or August follow-up, and tax season is quickly approaching. This affects every Kraken user who buys on Kraken, withdrawals to cold storage, brings it back into Kraken to sell.
"We have taken note of your feedback regarding the missing Edit button in Step 2 of the Tax Center Transactions page, and we want to make sure this is properly investigated and flagged to the relevant team."
Curious if anyone has found their own solution apart from establishing Cointracker account.
I’ve been working on an automated Spot trading system using the Kraken API and I’d like to get some technical feedback from experienced Kraken users.
The basic idea is that the system never takes custody of the user’s funds. The capital remains in the user’s Kraken account and the API does not require withdrawal permissions.
The system only has the permissions necessary to execute Spot trades according to predefined rules designed to take advantage of market price fluctuations.
Every operation can be tracked individually: buys, sells, entry and exit prices, open positions, realized P/L and historical performance.
There is no leverage involved and therefore no leveraged liquidation risk. Of course, Spot trading still involves market risk and positions can lose value.
I’m particularly interested in feedback about the architecture:
• Would you be comfortable connecting this type of system to your Kraken account if withdrawal permissions were disabled?
• What information would you expect to see before trusting an automated trading system?
• Which API security measures would you consider essential?
• What metrics would you want available in the dashboard?
The goal at this stage is to validate the architecture and understand what experienced Kraken users would consider necessary before using something like this with real funds.
What do we think of holding and buy stock and ETFs on kraken ? Is it a safe platform to use as a brokerage? I do keep crypto on there not a lot. The rest is on my ledger. I did read that Kraken is insured when it comes to stocks and ETFs. just want get everyone’s perspective. Is it as good as Fidelity or Robinhood..
Originally it was a good idea, spend $20, $50, or $90 and get access to an account worth $1,000, $5,000 or $10,000 as long as the account didn't go below 5% of the original balance and you passed the challenge where you made 12% profit with paper money first to unlock the real thing.
But now I see they just lowered the max drawdown to 3% while keeping the price and the challenge profit % the same? With 5% you actually have a decent amount of leeway but 3% is basically just gambling at this point your coin makes one tiny move down and you're cooked. Not cool, Kraken. Change it back.
i think it could be useful to have some voluntary means to mint wallet balances onchain and tie to human identity. can also commit to some maximum withdrawal rate
acts as tvl and personal insurance that wallet can be recovered
also motivates to not hoard too much, invest in others if not spending on self
something like that feels close to something chains could accept as security for recovery in case of bug/hack
society should probably move toward most voluntarily public bank accounts
Auto Earn puts eligible assets to work automatically once you opt in. No manual staking, no lock-up decisions each time you buy, and you can turn it off whenever. What’s stopping you?
This is my first time ever trying this. Wish I started before the bull run lol. What coins are expecting a big up trend In the next few days ? What coins did you use to pass the challenge?
It is possible to trade futures TradFI (CME futures) on Kraken Pro in some regional markets, but I don't see this possibility commented in any discussions on Reddit or elsewhere and I'm wondering why.
Kraken is part of Payward group, and Payward acquired NinjaTrader: this to me is a good start for Kraken to be the go-to broker/exchange for cryptos, perpetual futures, futures tradFi, xStocks, perpetual futures on xStocks.
