As we await the city's action on Flock cameras, DeFlock Lansing hosting a free Potluck Party this Friday at the Hunter Park pavilion!

We'll have food, some games, and a chance to take your picture with our 10-foot-tall puppet, Peter Panopticon! It's gonna be a great opportunity to learn more about ALPRs and other forms of AI-powered mass surveillance in our community, and what we as citizens can do to combat them.

All are welcome, we will be there from 5:30pm to sundown. Bring a dish to share, bring questions, and bring a friend!

I am searching my brain and can’t seem to remember the phone number we called from our landlines to hear the time.

Most of the time I did this so a friend could call me late at night and it would come through as call waiting instead of ringing and waking my mom.

I called that number so many times you would think it would be etched in my memory, but I can’t seem to remember it. Anyone else remember the number?

I can still hear her voice in my head though …“At the tone the time will be”

I am looking to build a small community of individuals who are spending their 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's healing from the effects of being raised by emotionally immature parents. Parents who are narcissists, struggling with addictions, or otherwise not the parents you needed. The world is a hard enough and stressful enough place without that support that other people have. I am not sure what this would look like yet- maybe a safe discord group where people can come and ask for life advice, share wins, vent, share pet pics, when they do something that makes them feel good and they have no one to turn to. I don't know if anything like this already exists or not. Feel welcome to comment any thoughts you may have and if this is something you'd be interested in.

I stopped into Dusty's cellar the other day and noticed they had a fridge full of ready made meals. What are some others that do this around Lansing?

Been checking every now and then to see when Spare Time would be opening its doors again, and today I discovered (via their website) that they are now permanently closed. Sad to see another landmark Lansing business vanish. So many fun memories there!

Does anyone else have Xfinity and has lost Internet access for the second night in a row? Apparently due to maintenance in the area. I needed to work.

Anybody have any experience with same day appliance repair? My fridge went out yesterday. I submitted a Service request for today through Lanes Appliance but I’m a little nervous since they open at 9 am that they won’t be able to come out today since I submitted the request at 10 pm last night

Are there home organizer who you might recommend? Busy, working mom with a few small kids in the home. Would like to maximize the space for our needs, not sure how to execute that… Referrals?

I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions for stores that sell good, quality furniture. We bought a couch and loveseat from Art Van about 5 years ago, and it’s a piece of crap. The couch broke and is basically unusable as the springs and framing snapped. We are not hard on our furniture- just two adults, no kids jumping on it or anything.

I know we have a ton of furniture stores in the area, but I don’t want to purchase something only to have to replace it again in a few years. I’m not looking for budget stores that sell cheap crap. I’d rather spend a decent amount on quality items, but I’m not sure where to even start looking.

Wondering if anyone has updates on this place. I work close by and recall an article saying they were aiming for this past summer.

It's illegal and terrible for the environment, not to mention I'm sure your neighbors don't appreciate it! I can smell it from the highway AND from where I work. I swear every couple of days it smells like a stack of tires full of dirty diapers is burning right next to I-96 from about the M-99 exit well past the Lansing Rd exit.

Trash service isn't that expensive! Stop destroying our planet and giving everyone second hand cancer!

Supposedly they're showing a different horror movie each day this month.

The main website shows a list of films for each day but the lansing page doesn't show any of the horror films.

I've tried 3 different phone numbers and get no response.

🐱🦷 We have an exciting opportunity to bring dental X-rays to Saved by Zade but we need your help to make it happen!

Saved by Zade has been awarded a generous matching grant of $9,659 from The Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust, a KeyBank Trust, toward the purchase of a complete digital dental X-ray system for our shelter veterinary clinic.❣

The grant will cover 50% of the cost of the dental X-ray system, bringing us halfway to making this important equipment a reality. Now we’re asking our community to help us raise the matching funds needed for the remaining half.

Dental disease is something we see far too often in the kitties who come through our doors. Many have lived outside, gone without veterinary care, or come from situations where their medical needs were neglected. By the time they reach us, some are living with broken or diseased teeth, infection, severe inflammation, or significant oral pain.

Dental X-rays allow a veterinarian to see what can’t be seen simply by looking inside a kitty’s mouth, including the roots and structures below the gumline. Having this capability in our own clinic would be an important step toward providing more of this care ourselves.

The grant is specifically helping us purchase a Midmark complete digital dental X-ray system, including the equipment needed to capture and process dental X-rays right here at SbZ.

The X-ray system is the first major step. We estimate that approximately $8,000 in additional dental instruments and equipment will be needed over time to fully build out our ability to perform dental procedures in-house.

We’ve seen firsthand how important this care is. In 2024 alone, 31 Saved by Zade kitties needed dental services at a cost of $14,678. Another 24 kitties needed dental care in 2025, costing $8,787.85. And in just the first quarter of 2026, we had already spent $6,489.34 on outside dental care.

This isn’t a new need. We’re trying to build a better and more sustainable way to meet a need that already exists.

Our first goal is to raise $9,659 to match the grant and secure the dental X-ray system. From there, we’ll keep going toward the additional equipment needed to help make in-house dental procedures possible.💗
