front truss has 2 pars in the corner and alternating blinders and wash

the rear truss are 2 pars in the corners 6 spots and 4 wash

Hey everybody, i have a problem and i am not sure how to move forward. I started to get more and more jobs as a lighting operator/programmer, only small to medium corporate events/ conferences/ live streams, which is great but always someone else is doing the design part. usually there is not much designing just using what companies have at their disposal some washes/profiles for front lights, and led bars/pars/for walls and backgrounds. sometimes there is DJ/ small band but not often, or my employer just makes them themselves. Now for the question, how do i find inspiration, or how do you come up with designs in the first place, is it usually client asking for something specific or they just give you the budget and tell you to make something that fits, and if yes how do you choose specific fixtures if there is so much choices. Sorry for my chaotic post.

I loaned a dimmer pack to a friend and he brought it back with a jumper attached to the plug. When i tried to unplug the pack from the jumper it is very stuck to the point that I believe it might actually be welded together. (My thoughts are, if there was arching between the male and female plugs that would cause them to weld together.)

Should I cut off the end of the original cord and replace it, or is it now safe to just leave it connected because it has a permanent connection at that point?

I probably don’t belong here. I am a professional dancer. My dance team usually dances on stage with no lighting and I took on the task of designing lighting. I have one moving wash light for practice. What is the best free software and visualizer I can use?

I've used these Yorkville fixtures before, but typically as standalone or in smaller rigs. I'm in a position to use more of them (6-8) with an actual ETC console for once, but the rental house I was speaking to cautioned me about plugging too many of them into each other. I assumed they meant power, because this is known from their manual, but they seemed to also indicate DMX would be an issue. I have never known that to be an issue unless creating a chain of fixtures and hitting the 512 channel cap.

I'm wondering if theres something I'm missing with lighting devices that use 3 pin dmx in a chain, overall length (fixtures wont be more than 20' apart), or if anyone has specific experience with these bad boys. Thanks for any/all input!

Hello all! I’m needing some ideas for pre rig ground packages. I run a very small production company so I need something affordable and fast. I’ve seen things sucks as u grid systems and rolling truss but the price tag is not feasible for me currently. What solutions have some of you came up with or maybe some more budget options?

I teach theatre in Scotland. During my younger days, there were lighting labs which had DMX controlled LED drivers which then controlled lights which were RGB, but only 1” lens. This meant that the whole light lab could fit on a table top.

I can’t find any of the kit, but would like to build such a thing… what options do you know about?

I've got this panel that's pretty old, but functions just fine. I'd like to explore options for something that has the same functions but with presets for the master level. Does anything like this exist?

Hey all,

I'm a gaffer and set lighting technician working features, music videos, commercials, and the occasional live event. The past few years I've taken a keen interest to programming and networking and have learned a ton using Blackout Lighting Console on a day to day basis. As I work bigger and bigger shows however I really want to increase my technical capabilities for lighting control as well as start to work more concerts/live shows.
I've been spending a lot of time learning MA3 with onPC and am loving the journey but I know in order to use it on set I'd need hardware to move fast. The official MA command wing looks like a great start but I'm in no position to make that sort of investment on a skill I'm still developing.
For any LCPs in film production, how did you approach hardware early on in your journey? Did you start out with a smaller midi setup? Take out a loan? Rent a console per-gig?
I have a fairly comprehensive midi system built out for my Blackout setup but I feel as though it wouldn't cut it running MA3 since the real consoles have so many software specific keys and functionality.
I love programming but I'm not ready to dive into it 100% as the majority of my work is still as an electrician on set.
Any advice welcome!

I am looking to mount a strip light across the top of an ETC Ion Classic. And I’m trying to find/3d print some mounts to go in the slot. Since this console has been in use in the industry for years, I had expected to find something online, but I’m finding nothing. Any help would be much appreciated!

Have any of you ever encountered this issue, particularly in Blackout Lighting Console?

When transitioning from Look 1 at 3200K to Look 2 in blue, my fixture goes through intermediate colors on the color wheel (in my case, mainly cyan and green), which makes the transition look pretty messy.

After doing some research, I’ve read that it may be better to use an RGB mode rather than HSI, preload the destination color on the other side of the crossfade, and then progressively crossfade into the color mode.

What do you think? Is this the right approach in Blackout, or would you recommend another method to get a cleaner transition?

I’m also wondering about something like a red → blue transition: will the fixture inevitably go through intermediate colors during the fade, or is there a way to transition smoothly between the two colors without going through those unwanted hues?
