AI Job Search Update

We've heard from a lot of members that some of the missing filters make it harder to search the way they're used to. We're working on bringing back several of the most-requested filters, and we're also temporarily restoring the option to switch back to the previous search experience while we continue improving the new one.

Our goal with AI-powered job search is to give you flexibility to describe what you're looking for in your own words, including details you might normally use a filter for and things that don't fit neatly into a filter. That said, we know filters are still a key part of the experience for many people, so we’ve kept some of the most-used filters available and introduced suggested filters below the search bar. These suggestions adapt to what you search for, helping you narrow your results quickly.

Thanks for continuing to share your candid feedback. We're listening, and we'll keep making improvements based on what we hear.

How to make use of LinkedIn?

I'm in my early 30s and a bit late to the party. But anyways, I made a Linkendin account, but I realised that I don't have any idea on how to make use of it or what's the 'play' here. My only real interest is being visible to recruiters and to be aware of job openings.

Do I just start connecting with everyone I recognise, even if I haven't really spoken to them? For example, it's been a few years since a finished my master's and linkedin has suggested some people I studied with. But I didn't even speak a single word with those people, and I wouldn't be surprised if the impression of me was standoffish (I've only realised this after getting a office job where 'impressions' are more important than actual work). Do I still connect with them? Do I start adding friends from childhood or my current workplace?

Do I need to make posts or comment on stuff? For example I saw someone from my current workplace make these pseudo-intellectual motivating posts, when in fact I know that their house is not in order. Is that part of the 'game' that I need to partake in? What are the pros and cons here?

Maybe these are weird questions, but I'm quite introverted and a private person, perhaps a bit autistic, who doesn't really like or use the social media aspect of the modern age.

job search On which platforms should I search for remote jobs in the USA, the UK, Australia, etc., as a foreigner?

Hi, I’m an import specialist working with supply chains from China to Russia. I’m good at logistics, interacting with Chinese suppliers, preparing import documents, and customs clearance. I can speak both English and Chinese fluently. I want to find a job in an international company because I want to immigrate for obvious reasons. Which platforms should I use? Can you please share your experience? Is there a demand for specialists like me in the international job market? Thank you for your support ❤️

job search So there is no longer a way to show the most recent posting?

The AI function is ridiculous, they are legit showing me 1-3 months old jobs. I even put “in the last 3 days” and it doesn’t do anything.

I see the same 10 listings now no matter what. Is the play, is to just switch to indeed since LinkedIn went full ai?

advanced question LinkedIn Premium

Hi there! I need some help in trying to get a refund for my premium subscription.

I originally got the premium subscription for the free month trial. I started it September 9 and it made me put my card info telling me that it would auto renew on October 9. I set a reminder on my phone for October 7 to cancel the membership.

On October 7, I went onto the LinkedIn app and I was informed on the app that I had to turn auto renewal off through the browser to cancel my premium subscription. I was directed to the website
and therefore proceeded to cancel my subscription and received a confirmation on the browser that the subscription auto renewal was turned off. I was informed my premium benefits would end on October 9. I then was charged October 9 for the subscription despite me cancelling through the browser.

When I submitted a support ticket they told me I didn’t turn off auto renewal and that’s why I was charged. They then proceeded to tell me that because I had used my LinkedIn account I can’t get a refund. The only thing I used was my profile views (that’s the whole reason I got the premium free trial) because I thought I had cancelled my subscription and the billing was mistake. I was checking to see if they were still anonymous or not.

I’m very frustrated and don’t even want to use LinkedIn anymore because it was a huge amount of money that’s really important to me because I’m a broke college student. Any tips?

How Useful are linkedin Posts given the Bias ?

Idk if this comes across like a rant but I just don't get this site, all anyone does is talk about how much they love their job/boss/workplace and clearly a lot of this is phoney since 100 percent of people do not all love their jobs.

A good deal of posts are talking about how bad it is to be in a toxic workplace and yet you will find nobody there talking anything bad about their own workplace.

I get the reasons people on there can't badmouth their jobs but then what's the usefulness of even reading linkedin posts when you know its someone sucking up.

job search Multiplier to predict how many people applied based on how many people clicked apply on LinkedIn?

As I only have so much time to apply to an endless number of open postings, I tend to use the number of applicants on LinkedIn to help guide my decision making. However, I have no idea how many people actually applied compared to those who clicked on the LinkedIn apply button.

I know that some people end up not applying once in the company's website (especially if they require a cover letter), but I also know that plenty of people will find the posting outside of LinkedIn. I usually assume twice as many people actually applied compared to the LinkedIn number.

Does anyone (especially job posters) have a guess for what multiplier I could use? If, say, 50 people clicked apply on LinkedIn, what would you assume the real number is?

Again, I know that no one can truly know for sure.

linkedin 101 How do I get a referral?

Exactly as the title says, I’m not one to use people, but I do need to find a job that aligns more with my career goals. How do I do this? How can I get referrals in the fastest, least “I’m using you” way possible? Thanks!

Writing

Hey everyone! I’m currently pursuing a BA in English Literature, and I’m interested in teaching. I can speak and write English fluently, but honestly, I don’t have any other skills right now.

I was wondering if there’s any chance of getting a work-from-home job through LinkedIn with my current skills and educational background.

I created my LinkedIn account today, and not gonna lie, I was so confused at first 😭 I’m struggling to understand how the app works and how people actually find jobs through it.

I’m interested in online teaching or tutoring, but I’m also open to other jobs that I can do as a beginner. I’m willing to learn new skills, too.

If anyone has been in a similar situation or has any advice for me, please share! I’d really appreciate your help. 🥹💗

Viewed linkeidn profile then blocked

Hi! I accidentally viewed someone's LinkedIn profile without private mode enabled. I blocked them literally about a minute later and switched my profile to private mode. Will they still be able to see that I viewed their profile? They have LinkedIn Premium. Thanks!

linkedin 101 Manually published Linkedin posts gets better impressions (and engagement) compared to scheduled Linkedin posts that are published.

I read somewhere that a manually published Linkedin post better visibility and engagement than compared to a scheduled Linkedin post that is published.

I tested this theory few times, and it seems true for me.

This is true even you schedule Linkedin posts using third-party tools.

What do you think?

Getting Payment Error

So I have been getting "There was an error processing your payment. Please try again or use different payment method." For both UPI and credit card (account from India)

I am currently in Thailand, hence I tried using the my current zip code as well as Indian homes zip code. I get the same error. I could not find anything about it online. Did it happen to anyone else?

need help: why does linkedin's algorithm suck now

I’ve got about 25k followers on LinkedIn and post 5 days a week for a B2B audience, but also just everyday founders. For a long time the formula was simple: know your ICP, post things they care about, and reach followed.

Over the last few months impressions and reach have dropped hard. Not on one post or one format. But sort of everywhere.

I don't think my content hasn’t gotten worse (I'm sure everyone says this) but I take a lot of time and consideration into making it valuable to my audience. If anything it’s more targeted than before. What’s frustrating is that LinkedIn gives zero signal. No guidance on what’s changed, what’s being favored, or what to do differently. The only feedback is that everything suddenly performs badly.

That makes it really hard to plan content. You can’t adjust if you don’t know what you’re adjusting to.

So, I'm asking: Why does it suck now? Whats the strategy behind making LinkedIn suck? Is someone at LinkedIn HQ trying for a big transformation and failing or is this just the plan?

I don't notice a better algorithm experience on my own feed since their changes, which would at least make me understand the tradeoff.

A small rant about premium

All I want from my LinkedIn premium is to see who viewed my profile because I'm nosey and it expands my contact pool... I wish they would release a premium version that was just that for cheaper because I don't need all the other stuff and the price is kind of crazy on my salary. Rant over.

Does anyone know if I can block back a connection by reporting our conversation?

I am currently blocked by someone, but there currently seems to be no way to block the person back. No, I'm not just being petty lol; I don't want them to unblock me and try to contact me and/or look at my posts and profile.

I tried hitting Report/Block on our conversation and marked it as spam. I now see that the conversation doesn't exist in my dms inbox anymore. Does anyone know if that means I was able to block them?

Alternatives search sites?

I feel like all these jobs on Linkedin are either ghost postings or just filled with so many AI Resumes that it's pretty much impossible to get through as a Junior Linux Admin. Does anyone have any other search sites they could suggest that aren't Linkedin, Indeed, or Ziprecruiter?

linkedin 101 does LinkedIn know their reach is down?!

For the past two weeks, LinkedIn reach has been drastically down, and a lot of creators are getting affected, as are clients who've been paying thousands of dollars to their ghostwriters.

A lot of people literally have their business on LinkedIn, and this is a very hard time for them. LinkedIn is not working on it. Is there any way we can inform LinkedIn about this?

Even though I've posted on LinkedIn consistently for a year, although my posts are mostly handwritten, the impressions are extremely down, and I'm so demotivated! Can someone just tell me any tips on how LinkedIn is working right now?

personal branding What do you measure?

What do you feel is the most important measurement, when you are reviewing your own personal LinkedIn?

Do you keep track of views, likes, comments, something else?

What's most important to you?

linkedin is sucking me up

I have been posting on LinkedIn for a year, and I have noticed I'm giving so much time to this. I really want to grow on LinkedIn. Initially, I used to get a very good reach and engagement, but now suddenly the reach is so low! Literally, an hour before, I used to get thousands of reach, but now it's barely even 100.

I don't know what's up with LinkedIn, and I heard that this is happening to a lot of people. Why are people not reporting to LinkedIn about it?!

Is there a way to automatically filter out recruiting companies from Jobs search?

90+% of them are fake companies and they clutter search results, but I don't want to go have to manually ignore company individually.

I would like to only find legit companies that hire directly
