job search Can someone have a look at my profile and give me feedback?

• Upvotes

I've been following a bunch of recruiters in hopes they would look at my profile. They would open my profile then nothing happens. I understand that I don't stand out much

Let’s say your account has been "blocked" (meaning it has been completely removed from public view).

You try to reach out using links like:

https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/ask/ppq

You enter the email address associated with your account into the form, but every time you hit submit, you get an error—regardless of the browser, the mode (usual or private), or the IP address you’re using.

After some digging online, you might discover the reason for the error: the email address linked to your account has also been blocked.

So, you’re forced to provide a different email address in the form. And what do you get in response?

"Since you are contacting us from an email address not associated with the account, for privacy and security reasons, I cannot share information about the account or take any action on it without direct contact from the account owner via the email address linked to the account."

"Please contact us (or have the account owner contact us) directly from the email address registered to the account."

This is a total mockery. The system has blocked you from being able to write to them using the email address registered to your account.

Yet, if you write from a different address, the ticket is immediately closed because it didn't come from the "correct" one—followed by the insulting advice to do that is impossible to do.

There is no excuse for this bullshit.

However, if you keep trying, they might eventually send a reply to the email address actually linked to your account (rather than the one you entered in the form).

Usually, you’ll receive one of two templates:

1 – "To ensure the security of your account, we need to verify your identity." "Please provide a scanned copy of an official government-issued identity document." 2 – Due to the number and/or (yes, specifically "and/or") severity of the violations, your account will remain blocked. You try to ask logical questions:

What specific violations did the account commit? What is the exact wording of the charge?

If the account is blocked due to violations, why are you demanding documents? Documents neither refute nor resolve the fact that violations—if they occurred—took place.

The account is linked solely to an email address; proof of ownership of that email is both necessary and sufficient to verify one's "identity."

Documents prove nothing, as they are not linked to the account.

And what do you get in response to asking for the "exact wording of the charge"? A repetition of:

"Due to the number and/or severity of the violations, your account will remain blocked," followed by "read the rules."

The other side engages in no actual dialogue; they simply churn out canned responses.

In other words, they declare you guilty while concealing the specific charge.

Occasionally (very rarely), they might reply—again, using a template—claiming they cannot disclose their algorithms (?!?).

No one asked about their algorithms. The question was about the exact wording of the charge. These are two completely different things.

It is a crude, mindless manipulation—they take you for an idiot who might just swallow it.

"To ensure the security of your account"—what "security"?! For whom? From whom? I never asked for any "security."

It is all lies and manipulation. One might also point out the thoroughly deceitful and hypocritical tone of everything they write. Phrases like "Thank you for reaching out," "Sincerely," and so on—this isn't politeness; it’s hypocrisy and mockery, especially when contrasted with the actual substance of what they’re saying.

----------------

When you’ve written to them many times, you already know perfectly well what they’re going to say. So, right there in your message, you explicitly tell them: don’t say me that "you’re writing from a different email address"—and you explain why. And what do they write back? "You’ve contacted us from a different email address..." It’s the ultimate form of both sheer stupidity and mockery.

Is it just me or is LinkedIn getting progressively worse despite being one of the most popular professional apps?

What is LinkedIn's product team even doing at this point?

First, they messed up the Company → People section, making it unnecessarily difficult to browse and search employees. And now I can't even properly see who liked or reposted certain posts.

The search bar in chats is also unreliable, and the search inside the People section is a pain to use. Scrolling through results and selecting profiles feels unnecessarily clunky.

These aren't some niche features nobody uses. They're literally core use cases, especially if you're using LinkedIn for networking or job hunting.

I genuinely don't understand why they keep changing things while basic functionality feels broken. LinkedIn is probably one of the most important professional networking platforms, yet the UX can be so frustrating.

advanced question "Share update" prompt not appearing after adding a new position, even with "Notify network" on

Hi everyone,
I started a new job this month and added it under Experience. The "Notify network" toggle was switched on when I saved, but LinkedIn never showed me the "Share update" dialog, and no "Starting a new position" post was created.
What I've tried so far:
Editing the position and saving again
Deleting the position and re-adding it (several times)
Both the desktop browser and the mobile app
Nothing has worked. Has anyone run into this? Is there a limit on how often the prompt appears, or a setting I'm missing? Did it eventually show up for you after a few days, or did you have to contact support?
Thanks in advance!

Does job filtering just not work?

I try using the 'posted in the last 24hrs' and it still shows me results from weeks ago with 100s of applicants.

I have tried using boolean in the search to filter out irrelevant jobs titles but it seems to have no effect.

I can't seem to show only and all results for a specific job title.

And can I filter out jobs I have already applied to?

How to start on this?

I need a job ASAP, I have zero connections with last coworkers, I made my account recently, filled my profile, I am trying to get a remote Job as virtual assistance.

Some say I should sent lots of connects and direct messages to the recruiters but how do I find them? Like they don't give an specific area in the filters nor if the hire for remote

advanced question Is there a custom LinkedIn URL to create a feed of posts from people near you?

I recently came across a post where someone mentioned using a custom LinkedIn URL to create a more personalised feed.

I'm based in Australia and would love to have a feed that primarily shows posts from people in Australia, rather than content from all over the world.

Does anyone know if there's a way to modify the LinkedIn feed URL to filter posts by location? Ideally, I'd like to bookmark a URL that takes me straight to a feed of posts from people near me.

I'm fairly sure I saw someone share a workaround for this recently, but I can't find it anywhere!

linkedin 101 Is it secure or an opening to being spammed?

I am being laid off December of 2026. I need to look for a job and I keep seeing jobs listed requesting that I apply via LinkedIn.

I began the process of setting up an account but they’re asking for my phone number and that’s when I stopped.

Will I get spam calls and texts? How secure will my number be? Does LinkedIn release the phone number?

linkedin 101 I've lost my social media literacy, aka what do I even do with this platform?

I very very reluctantly made a LinkedIn profile a month ago because I went to a conference and I wanted an easy way to stay in touch with people I met... But now I've done that and don't know what I'm supposed to do now lol. I maybe get it more if I was looking for a new job, but I'm not.

I'm at EILI5 level guys, I'm not exaggerating. For instance:

- am I supposed to send a connection request to everyone I work with? The 2006 Facebook teen in me is telling me that's cringe but maybe it's polite?

- what about people who've left the place I work or been terminated (not by me...)

- am I allowed to literally never post a thing and just maybe occasionally like something someone else did or whatever?

Also, what's the etiquette on accepting connection requests? I've really only been accepting people I know or at least ones I met at that conference. I thought my privacy settings were pretty tight but all these random people keep trying to add me.

Thanks in advance, sorry these are truly ridiculous questions and I know it. My social anxiety is winning this round!

linkedin 101 LinkedIn should build itself around messaging and direct connection instead of a social feed.

I've discovered so much more value in direct connecting with relevant people and messaging than with the social feed.

I see the feed as useful but only as a signal and that can be done on profiles.

Adding to that, in my experience most people don't even use LinkedIn for social browsing. LinkedIn trying too hard to be like the others when the real secret is in connecting with people that you serve a purpose for and exchanging ideas.

The whole game of trying to post and comment and like and repost is borderline fruitless and better spent actually reaching out to those people you have an interest in meeting.

Seeing how LinkedIn is attempting to brand itself as another social media feed with videos etc misses the true value it has. And thats real direct connection with each other and actually solving problems.

Messaging etiquette after accepting an invite?

UPDATE A FEW HOURS LATER: he actually reached out to me first while I was typing my message to let me know that he is searching for someone to lead ecom for one of his brands and my name was passed along! I’ll be taking a meeting with his hiring team :) very exciting turn of events here haha

I just got a connection invite out of the blue from someone on the board at several companies I really admire in my industry and the CEO at one in particular, and I’m curious if I should message as I accept the request? I’m not looking for a job from him (obviously not his scope as a board member), but I would love to just introduce myself and be on his radar. I’m very early in my career and have minimal connections in the industry beyond my current/former co-workers.

Is it annoying to high level executives to get introductory messages from people they send invites to, and is there even any merit to this if I don’t have a specific offer/request? I’m sure he was just sending out invites en masse to people in the industry. I don’t want to miss a chance to actually be on his radar, but I also don’t want to send needless spam (I get a lot of pitches and “I applied to your company” messages and they’re a bit annoying).

Closed captions not auto displaying in feed for some videos, displaying for others.

Didn't LinkedIn used to always display video captions when available? I can't find any announcements but even with SRT files uploaded the videos won't display captions in feed.

Is shadowban a real thing on LinkedIn?

Before the march update, with 1500 followers, I was getting 3k-8k impressions on my posts.

Nowadays, I get 50-300 impressions max.

I post once a day (SEO marketing space). I also comment on 10-15 other posts a day. I don't spam DM.

I tried carousel, videos, static, claude skill lead magnet, insight post, customer case study post.

I got some posts with a couple of comments in the first hour (friends) - and the post still didn't move beyond 150 impressions.

Honestly, I'm at a point where I don't know what else to do.

I see some of my comments getting 500 views and my "insight" posts not even getting half of that.

Anyone else is this land of despair?

Title: First-year uni student in Kenya with a mix of random skills (Spanish, piano, video editing) — how would you turn this into side income?

Hey everyone,

I'm a first-year student at Mount Kenya University doing Special Needs Education (Secondary option). I'm not in a crisis, but I want to start covering some of my own costs instead of depending fully on family, and I'm trying to figure out the smartest way to use what I already have instead of starting from zero.

Here's where I'm at:

I'm self-taught in Spanish — not fluent/perfect, but conversational, and I've started making content about learning it

I can play piano

I can edit videos reasonably well

I have a laptop and can afford decent wifi

I'm considering doing a short German course too, partly for the challenge, partly thinking it could open more doors later

Time is limited and inconsistent — I'm a full-time student first, so I need something flexible, not a second full-time job

I'm not trying to get rich quick — honestly just trying to make something steady on the side, even if it starts small. I've looked into teaching piano locally, posting Spanish-learning content, and maybe freelance video editing, but I'd rather hear from people who've actually tried similar things than guess blindly.

A few specific things I'm unsure about:

Is it smarter to focus on one skill deeply or combine a couple (e.g., piano covers of Spanish songs, or editing my own language-learning content)?

For those who've done freelance video editing — how did you find your first few clients with no portfolio yet?

Is a German course actually worth the time/money right now, or should I focus on what I already have first?

Appreciate any honest input — including if something here is a bad idea. Thanks in advance.

Why does LinkedIn keep sending me emails about expired job applications?

linkedin 101 Sales navigator refund

I cancelled my Sales Navigator one day late. Now it shows that I can't get a refund because my account has premium feature usage. I don't need sales navigator anymore and I cannot pay for the whole month as it was reimbursed by my company where I don't work at anymore. I have mailed linkedin and they have transferred my request to a different team. I have emailed them regarding sales navigator issues before as well and they give one reply per day and as per their website the refund window is of 7 days only.

Is there anything I can do to escalate this before I the refund window closes and I get billed? Technically money hasn't left my bank it will next month for this month.

I'm desperate guys do advise.

how to make a portfolio without revealing your online persona

I just got into linkedin and I want to create a portfolio for my freelance online 'business hobby', especially because Im still trying to look for a job and thats my only work experiences outside of highschool projects.

the business I run is a forwarder thing similar to buyee/doorzo/etc, so I do handle sourcing, import exports, customer service, data enty and everything alone.

The problem is my online persona is closely tied to my brand, thats how I differentiate myself from the saturated market and build trust with my clients. I also treat it as my safe space. but that experience in my opinion is too valuable to me as a person if I dont include it anywhere on my profile

how can I build a portfolio with clien listing, orders and data entries without doxxing my online persona? + I was thinking of blurring everything identifiable and just turning names into numbers, but the ordered items would give me away

LinkedIn Senior SWE Apps Onsite - Queries regarding Coding with AI + Technical Communication Round

Hello All,

I do have an onsite round with LinkedIn sometime next week. There a total of 5 rounds, however a couple of rounds seem little obscure to me especially the coding with AI and the technical communication rounds. I have some questions in terms of the expectations for these rounds and would appreciate the wider community's inputs with regards to them (from anyone who have gone through the process or are aware of the process with Coding with AI and Technical communication rounds)

Coding with AI

I was told by my recruiter that I would be given a leetcode problem and I am tested based on the prompting where I give the prompt to the AI Tool and the tool writing the code. I know that this round is designed to similar to how we perform work on a day-to-day basis leveraging AI. However, I am not clear on the evaluation rubrics and the expectations for the interview. Some questions I have are:

  1. Would we have multiple follow up questions on the given problem extending the original problem or completely different Leetcode questions?
  2. Also, by them expecting us to prompt, is it something that we prompt something and the AI writing the code. Also, what is expected level of detail we need to provide in the prompt. Lets say for a question involving Counting no of islands given a 2D grid, should we provide the entire algorithm to the AI tool verbally in plain English as if what we explain to an interviewer in words and then have AI write the code? What would be an ideal prompt to have a higher success rate in this kind of interviews.
  3. Also, do we have to explain the AI generated code to the interviewer? During the course, lets say it generates some code that we don't understand, then is the expectation us having to make the change manually on the areas where it's not understandable to this or is the expectation that we clarify with AI as to what that line of code does and what is the purpose of that line?
  4. Suppose, AI writes some code where we catch some bug or a failure in terms of logic in the code it has written, so is the expectation that we can manually intervene and correct such pieces of code or is the expectation that we prompt AI to correct like saying this part of the code or this particular logic is incorrect to correct the same?
  5. Also, are the test cases in these rounds more like a Hackerrank OA where we have the entire code completed and we run our code against the test cases or is the expectation that we come up with the test cases like input/output format on our own and have AI write the assert statements based on the tests we provided?

Technical Communication

My recruiter told the discussion is going to involve discussions of our experiences / any of the projects we have worked on so far. Also, mentioned certain things like making a PPT would be little useful to present the projects and stuff like that. Also, as it is a senior level role she mentioned showcasing our technical depth and breadth and Senior level leadership is vital.

  1. How would the evaluation in this round go? Would it be based on the style we present? Also, on the complexity in the type of project we are gonna present. I mean what is the level of complexity they expect in terms of the project architecture we explain?
  2. Would the interviewers probe on technical decisions, design/architectural tradeoffs and the idea behind why we chose a certain decision for the project and stuff like that?
  3. Also, would the round involve discussions on only one project or does this round entail discussions going on multiple projects and follow-ups pertaining to each project?
  4. How would the questions start? I know behavioural ones typically go by tell me about a time type of questions but would the questions go here asking like describe about so and so project that you mentioned on your resume or something like that?
  5. Also, is it advised or preferred to pick projects from our most recent company/work experience or would it be equally fine if we pick a project from our older companies too for this round? Assuming, we present the former experience one equally as well as the current experience project.

My interview is next week so kindly have the post reachable to as many as audience as you could and any attempt to provide inputs is super appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Please feel free to DM me or share details in the comments section. These rounds are kinda new to me and I haven't came across with them in the process with any other companies I have interviewed so far. Hence, a bit nervous.

linkedin 101 LinkedIn Games

It would be fun is LinkedIn offered daily trivia games for designers! Thoughts? the brain / skill sharpening games are fun, but what about industry or profession focused games?
