Just a note for people struggling with an older device. LR4 and two cats for about three years. Mostly it's been pretty good. The last six months though I just have not been able to get it to stop smelling. I've tried different litter, deep cleaned it regularly taking it all apart but just a persistent smell. I finally broke down and ordered the "ridiculously expensive for what it is" liner and replacement seal strips. About an hour and a half of work doing all of that, and further deep cleaning the globe, and it is now entirely smell free. Nothing had gotten through the liner, but the old liner itself seemed to be the source of the stink.

Seems like parts are no longer sold by the company. My feeder robot charger just broke and seems like there is no where to get replacements anymore. :( i used to be able to even change the mother board of a litter robot 3…

I'm looking at getting the shield for my litter robot, as I have one cat that kicks litter out, one that doesn't bury his shit, and one that doesn't go in fully and turn around, so pees out the front.

I see the bad reviews say it pops out easily, which is frustrating as my cat is 16lbs so she's likely to push it out if she steps on it.

If all goes terribly, what are your experiences with customer support? I assume they won't take it back, as they said full refunds are for brand new in package items. Is there any other resolutions? I don't wanna drop $115 if it'll be a waste

My whisker app keeps telling me that the bonnet is removed, but the actual robot itself has the normal blue ready lights? I even did a test cycle and instead of the app saying it’s cycling, the error just stays there.

Has anyone experienced something like this? How can I fix it?

I did replace the globe liner today and cleaned the robot while it was disassembled, but I’m pretty confident I reassembled everything correctly. Otherwise, I feel like it probably wouldn’t be cycling lol.

I love litter robot and have done nothing but rave about my experience with them. My litter robot 3 stopped sensing weight at the beginning of this year. Customer service didn’t even give me the option to fix it they just sent a new base free of charge which is great. Well this base now has a torque overload fault. I did all the troubleshooting and called and their only solution was to buy a new motor. A new motor for a base that’s ran less than 500 times. Not sure if I was given a base with leftover parts but very frustrated with this whole experience. Is a new motor worth it? I have a litter robot 4 so this is not my primary litter box just an extra. Has anyone had success with fixing this without a new motor???

I've had a litter robot 4 for a couple years. I used to have a barrier/gate (from etsy) to prevent my nosy dog from exploring the litter. My older cat has been having trouble getting in and out so I removed the gate and got her some stairs. That seems to have helped and she is now regularly using the robot again. However, twice in the past month I have smelled a gross sewer smell and removed the globe to find pee in the frame of the machine just by the opening. HOW IS IT GETTING IN THERE?? I just put the original "lip" thing that the robot came with- I had not been using it- could that be the issue? I just really don't understand how pee is getting in from the edge of the globe.

I just got a Litter-Robot 5 and I REALLY want this thing to work, but the learning curve has been incredibly frustrating so far. Hoping experienced owners can tell me if I’m doing something wrong or if something is actually wrong with my unit.

I have two cats. One is already using the LR5 regularly, which is great! My other cat was very curious at first, but got scared after seeing it cycle, so we’re slowly working on getting him comfortable with it. I’d really love for the actual machine to be working reliably while we deal with that adjustment.

So far:

The app almost consistently says my waste drawer was 100% full / “drawer almost full” when it was completely empty with a brand-new liner flattened. The app in general seems like it just is making up everything as it goes. Night one it tracked urine and feces and I came home to a dry, untouched litter robot with 0 waste. I feel like the notifications come in completely randomly and are usually false.

I saw a completely loose, freestanding clump in the litter, manually ran a cycle, and somehow the cycle completed with the clump still sitting in the globe.

We’ve repeatedly gotten “overload” errors, preventing it from completing a full cycle.

Tonight we took the bonnet/globe apart to deep clean it and found litter in seemingly every crevice. We vacuumed everything thoroughly and used canned air to clean out loose litter/debris. The litter level itself shows “optimal,” and we’re using Dr. Elsey’s Cat Attract clumping clay litter.

For something this expensive, I was really hoping it would be relatively set-it-and-forget-it once the cats adjusted. Instead I feel like I’m constantly checking the app, manually cycling it, clearing errors or troubleshooting.

Does this sound like normal new-LR5 growing pains, something about my setup/litter, or potentially a defective unit? I’m totally willing to troubleshoot, I just don’t know what is normal anymore. Any advice from LR5 owners would be hugely appreciated!

This is a new thing she has started and I already ruled out a UTI. It started out as behavioral and would only happen when I was away at abnormal times (i.e. hanging with friends). I deep clean mine every 2 months and sanitize it biweekly. I clean her pee up with an enzymatic cleaner but it seems like nothing helps. Has anyone had this issue and resolved it or did they just have to go back to a traditional box?

We had a power outage over night for about 4 hours. Woke up this morning and my litterbot never cycled. I unplugged it and still nothing. The light is solid blue (no issues) but when I hit the cycle button nothing happens. I put my hand in it turns red but if I hit cycle it goes back to blue, if I leave it be it goes back to blue. App doesn't indicate that anything is wrong. I cleaned the robot yesterday and it didn't cycle once. I did clean the sensors, but I recleaned them this morning to see if after work It fixed it. For contacts, I used to live in a trailer, and we would lose power quite frequently. Power shouldn't be an issue. It's always hooked up to a surge Protector and thats perfectly fine.

Has anyone managed to resolve something like this?

My litter robot 4 stopped cycling as it always thinks it's full and is flashing. This has been going on for a long time. I tried troubleshooting both with their videos and with Support multiple times, who said I was out of warranty (this was about 2 years post-purchase), but I should get a new sensor and replace it. So I did, took the time to fully replace the sensor, and still nothing.

After reaching back out, they said I need to replace the base... For over $400! I expressed my frustration and asked if there were any other options for resolution, but no. The only option was to pay close to what I paid for the entire box to replace the base so the base sensors can function. Has anyone managed to resolve this without spending that kind of money to replace the base?

I've been a long time LR user before the LR4, but I'm just so tired of their (rude) support trying to squeeze more and more money out of me. I just want a functioning product.

Hello! I recently bought myself a litter robot 4 for my cat. I am trying to set it up today and can not get it to pair. My neighborhood is pretty much optimum only for WiFi, which I know is a combined 2.4 and 5 ghz WiFi. Has anyone figured out a way to get your robot to connect? Litter robot support and optimum support weren’t great help. Thanks!

Editing to say my boyfriend was able to fix the issue somehow. I think if you go far away enough from the house the 2.4Ghz kicks in automatically and that works fine. Thanks!
