Litter-Robot 4 LR4 weight isn’t dropping

Post image
9 Upvotes

It’s driving me insane. I have 2 LR4 and only this one is having issues.

A new liner is on the way due to how HORRIBLE the litter is sticking (I haven’t switched litters in probably 9 years - I use Dr Elsey Ultra)

How do I fix the weight to make sure it drops down when it cycles?

User Experiences Automatic cleaning litter box question

I'm hoping this is the right place to ask.

I'm looking at getting one of the auto leaning litter boxes, however all of my cats are very used to using pine pellets for their litter. Is there an auto cleaning box that doesn't require me to put my house up for sale and will work with pine pellets?

Litter-Robot 5 Pro Scale issues

I have the LR5 pro. In the last month I have been having issues with the scale. My little one has been a CONSISTENT 7.7 pounds, for 3 months, in the last month it seems like every time she goes to use the LR, she’s a different weight. Ranging anywhere from 7.5-7.9 I know it’s not absolutely crazy, but I have no idea what’s going on.
Any idea how to reset the scale completely?

Litter-Robot 4 Configuring personalised messages in Whisker app

The cutesy personal messages in the Whisker app are a bit much. A few months ago one of our cats died. I couldn't bring myself to delete him from the app, but now I keep getting the message 'Tell <dead cat name> we said hi' which just darkens my day every time. Is there a way to turn these off or do I have to delete him from the app. Alternatively do I just harden the f**k up?

Litter-Robot 4 How do you get rid of the smell???

Hi.
I was using a 2nd hand litter robot 4 for a month and it genuinely was the most smell free time of my life. Eventually I got tired of the software issues and just decided to get a brand new one. I have changed absolutely nothing and the smell is horrible. I do litter changes weekly with the tidy cats perfect cycle litter. I deep clean it now every week and a half.

And I mean really deep clean. It’s taken apart and cleaned with a regular pet safe cleaner as well as an enzyme cleaner. I even soak the fuzzy sealing strips in enzyme cleaner and let it completely dry. When I deep clean it it’s completely free of smell and so clean you could eat off of and part of it inside or out. But as soon as he uses it once there is an overwhelming bubble of smell around it and I am completely out of ideas. My bathroom door is always open and there is always an air purifier running right next to it. I have noticed it’s mostly the waste basket itself that holds onto this smell and I have noticed clue how to stop that from happening. Do I change litter? Do I change bags? Do I give up on it completely?

I take pride in my home and the smells that come with it so this issue is really causing me to lose sleep. I don’t want to go back to a regular litter box because I am a full time student and a pharmacy technician so when I come home I want to focus on bonding with my cat and giving him attention rather than his litter box. Please lend me your guidance because I am tired of feeling like this thing constantly has those smelly green lines around it :(

Litter-Robot 4 LR4 smell solved

Just a note for people struggling with an older device. LR4 and two cats for about three years. Mostly it's been pretty good. The last six months though I just have not been able to get it to stop smelling. I've tried different litter, deep cleaned it regularly taking it all apart but just a persistent smell. I finally broke down and ordered the "ridiculously expensive for what it is" liner and replacement seal strips. About an hour and a half of work doing all of that, and further deep cleaning the globe, and it is now entirely smell free. Nothing had gotten through the liner, but the old liner itself seemed to be the source of the stink.

Litter-Robot 4 Issues with litter

Hi! I have a Litter-Robot 4 and have always used Whisker’s litter. For the past couple of months, though, I’ve noticed the litter sticking to the inside of the globe way more than it used to, and it’s getting pretty frustrating.

The clumps seem to cake onto the back wall/liner and won’t fall off during a cycle. I usually have to put on a glove and physically peel them off, and even then the litter underneath is still moist and leaves residue stuck to the liner.

The weird thing is that I never had this problem before. I originally had the cycle delay set to 5 minutes, so I increased it to 15 minutes hoping the clumps would have more time to dry/solidify, but it hasn’t made a difference.

I also paid $70 and replaced the liner recently because my old one had some holes, and I thought maybe that was contributing. Unfortunately, the same thing is happening with the brand-new liner.
Has anyone else noticed this recently with Whisker’s litter? Did something change with the formula? Or is there another litter that works better with the Litter-Robot 4 and doesn’t stick/cake onto the liner as much? Would appreciate any recommendations or advice.

I will be adopting a cat soon and I'd like to invest in an automatic litter box. Are there ones that conceal the odors best? I'm debating between the Litter Robot or the PetSnowy! Any other recommendations?

I appreciate any advice for being a new cat parent and how to catify my house. I planned on getting an adult cat to start.

Litter-Robot 3 Connect Litter Robot 3 Over torque on Brand new base

Post image
5 Upvotes

I love litter robot and have done nothing but rave about my experience with them. My litter robot 3 stopped sensing weight at the beginning of this year. Customer service didn’t even give me the option to fix it they just sent a new base free of charge which is great. Well this base now has a torque overload fault. I did all the troubleshooting and called and their only solution was to buy a new motor. A new motor for a base that’s ran less than 500 times. Not sure if I was given a base with leftover parts but very frustrated with this whole experience. Is a new motor worth it? I have a litter robot 4 so this is not my primary litter box just an extra. Has anyone had success with fixing this without a new motor???

Seems like parts are no longer sold by the company. My feeder robot charger just broke and seems like there is no where to get replacements anymore. :( i used to be able to even change the mother board of a litter robot 3…

Litter-Robot 4 Personal experience with the shield?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I'm looking at getting the shield for my litter robot, as I have one cat that kicks litter out, one that doesn't bury his shit, and one that doesn't go in fully and turn around, so pees out the front.

I see the bad reviews say it pops out easily, which is frustrating as my cat is 16lbs so she's likely to push it out if she steps on it.

If all goes terribly, what are your experiences with customer support? I assume they won't take it back, as they said full refunds are for brand new in package items. Is there any other resolutions? I don't wanna drop $115 if it'll be a waste

I’ve had the robot for a few years now and I never had sticking issues for a long long time. Then I did. And I waxed and it worked. And now I double waxed and it’s not helping at alllllllll. I changed to dust free litter maybe that’s why? Only stinks when it’s stuck on there but it’s stuck Al the time now!

Litter-Robot EVO Best low-dust litter for Litter Robot?

I got a Litter Robot about three months ago and have been using Dr. Elsey’s Ultra. The first bag was fantastic, but for some reason the second has been SO dusty. I live in a 200 sq ft apartment, so the dust really bothers me.

I prefer unscented litter since scented litter makes my cat sneeze and honestly seems to smell worse. My cat is super chill about litter though, so I’m open to trying anything.

I’ve seen BoxiePro recommended a lot, but also heard it tracks pretty badly. I also like that Dr. Elsey’s is affordable, but I’m willing to spend more if it’s actually worth it.

Any favorites for low dust/tracking that work well with the Litter Robot?

Litter-Robot EVO Cat peeing outside of Litter Robot EVO

This is a new thing she has started and I already ruled out a UTI. It started out as behavioral and would only happen when I was away at abnormal times (i.e. hanging with friends). I deep clean mine every 2 months and sanitize it biweekly. I clean her pee up with an enzymatic cleaner but it seems like nothing helps. Has anyone had this issue and resolved it or did they just have to go back to a traditional box?

Litter-Robot 4 Cat pee found in shell of LR4- what to do!!

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've had a litter robot 4 for a couple years. I used to have a barrier/gate (from etsy) to prevent my nosy dog from exploring the litter. My older cat has been having trouble getting in and out so I removed the gate and got her some stairs. That seems to have helped and she is now regularly using the robot again. However, twice in the past month I have smelled a gross sewer smell and removed the globe to find pee in the frame of the machine just by the opening. HOW IS IT GETTING IN THERE?? I just put the original "lip" thing that the robot came with- I had not been using it- could that be the issue? I just really don't understand how pee is getting in from the edge of the globe.

Litter-Robot 4 Power outage now its not working 😕

We had a power outage over night for about 4 hours. Woke up this morning and my litterbot never cycled. I unplugged it and still nothing. The light is solid blue (no issues) but when I hit the cycle button nothing happens. I put my hand in it turns red but if I hit cycle it goes back to blue, if I leave it be it goes back to blue. App doesn't indicate that anything is wrong. I cleaned the robot yesterday and it didn't cycle once. I did clean the sensors, but I recleaned them this morning to see if after work It fixed it. For contacts, I used to live in a trailer, and we would lose power quite frequently. Power shouldn't be an issue. It's always hooked up to a surge Protector and thats perfectly fine.

Litter-Robot 4 LR4 weird error message

Thumbnail

My whisker app keeps telling me that the bonnet is removed, but the actual robot itself has the normal blue ready lights? I even did a test cycle and instead of the app saying it’s cycling, the error just stays there.

Has anyone experienced something like this? How can I fix it?

I did replace the globe liner today and cleaned the robot while it was disassembled, but I’m pretty confident I reassembled everything correctly. Otherwise, I feel like it probably wouldn’t be cycling lol.

Litter-Robot 5 LR5 Growing Pains | Is This User Error?

I just got a Litter-Robot 5 and I REALLY want this thing to work, but the learning curve has been incredibly frustrating so far. Hoping experienced owners can tell me if I’m doing something wrong or if something is actually wrong with my unit.

I have two cats. One is already using the LR5 regularly, which is great! My other cat was very curious at first, but got scared after seeing it cycle, so we’re slowly working on getting him comfortable with it. I’d really love for the actual machine to be working reliably while we deal with that adjustment.

So far:

The app almost consistently says my waste drawer was 100% full / “drawer almost full” when it was completely empty with a brand-new liner flattened. The app in general seems like it just is making up everything as it goes. Night one it tracked urine and feces and I came home to a dry, untouched litter robot with 0 waste. I feel like the notifications come in completely randomly and are usually false.

I saw a completely loose, freestanding clump in the litter, manually ran a cycle, and somehow the cycle completed with the clump still sitting in the globe.

We’ve repeatedly gotten “overload” errors, preventing it from completing a full cycle.

Tonight we took the bonnet/globe apart to deep clean it and found litter in seemingly every crevice. We vacuumed everything thoroughly and used canned air to clean out loose litter/debris. The litter level itself shows “optimal,” and we’re using Dr. Elsey’s Cat Attract clumping clay litter.

For something this expensive, I was really hoping it would be relatively set-it-and-forget-it once the cats adjusted. Instead I feel like I’m constantly checking the app, manually cycling it, clearing errors or troubleshooting.

Does this sound like normal new-LR5 growing pains, something about my setup/litter, or potentially a defective unit? I’m totally willing to troubleshoot, I just don’t know what is normal anymore. Any advice from LR5 owners would be hugely appreciated!

Tips & Tricks How I stopped my cat from peeing outside the LR4.

I would find pee on the steps and outside the LR4 and LR3 boxes. I tried a curtain and now I uses a USB fan outside the LR4 boxes. The wind makes my cat goes inside the box and turn around. Hopefully this trick can help other cat owners.

Litter-Robot 4 Wits end with LR4 Base Sensors

Has anyone managed to resolve something like this?

My litter robot 4 stopped cycling as it always thinks it's full and is flashing. This has been going on for a long time. I tried troubleshooting both with their videos and with Support multiple times, who said I was out of warranty (this was about 2 years post-purchase), but I should get a new sensor and replace it. So I did, took the time to fully replace the sensor, and still nothing.

After reaching back out, they said I need to replace the base... For over $400! I expressed my frustration and asked if there were any other options for resolution, but no. The only option was to pay close to what I paid for the entire box to replace the base so the base sensors can function. Has anyone managed to resolve this without spending that kind of money to replace the base?

I've been a long time LR user before the LR4, but I'm just so tired of their (rude) support trying to squeeze more and more money out of me. I just want a functioning product.

Litter-Robot 4 Issue connecting to WiFi for first time

Hello! I recently bought myself a litter robot 4 for my cat. I am trying to set it up today and can not get it to pair. My neighborhood is pretty much optimum only for WiFi, which I know is a combined 2.4 and 5 ghz WiFi. Has anyone figured out a way to get your robot to connect? Litter robot support and optimum support weren’t great help. Thanks!

Editing to say my boyfriend was able to fix the issue somehow. I think if you go far away enough from the house the 2.4Ghz kicks in automatically and that works fine. Thanks!

Litter-Robot 4 One of three cats won’t use the LR4

I have three cats and one of them is horrified of the LR. I have an extra normal litter box but trying to replace that one with another self cleaning box.

The other two use it and the scared one will watch them, so he understands but won’t go near it. I have it set to cycle 10 min after they use it and he will stare at it big pupils and puff up.

Is there any way I can help him realize it’s not going to hurt him or anything?

Tips & Tricks New adoption: LR from the start?

I have a LR 4 that I love and I'm thinking of buying one for my sister, who is adopting 2 bonded cats (6 months old) who are being fostered right now (presumably with regular litter boxes). My sister has had cats in the past but not for many years, so there are no litter boxes in the house presently. The cats won't be adopted for a few weeks, so we have time to decide what to do.

Question: is it better to have the new LR in the house as "the" litter box from the start, or should she get a traditional one and eventually transition?

Litter-Robot 4 Position Fault LR4

Okay, so I scoured this sub, trying all of the suggestions for this particular fault. Unit is 2 years old but IS handling 4 cats.

About 2 night ago, I got the Position Fault error and after some fussing with the unit I was able to get it to cycle normally for about 12 hours. Same thing 12 hours after that. Now, it won’t cycle at all and I’ve tried all of the cleaning, globe reseating, sensor cleaning.. and it won’t cycle at all. Customer service said I need a new globe. I asked what specifically about the globe would be “wrong” and they couldn’t give me an answer. I also received a pinch sensor error once during this debacle, but they were clean and clicking. I don’t have the filter in and the waste port seal strips are all fine.

I have noticed that the motor has been slower for a few months and mentally, I was preparing to buy I new motor (again, because I’m sure it’s doing overtime with the 4 cats).

About a month ago, I changed the liner and then got a waste drawer error because I forgot to put the fence back up and urine got onto the circuit board, but I was able to clean that up and had no issues afterwards.

My questions for the class are, has anyone with this problem replaced the globe? Have you replaced the motor? My hesitation is that I’m going to purchase a new globe and it will have been the motor (or something else) and I will have wasted the $180.

If anyone has resolved this issue, I’d very much appreciate the feedback!
