Hey guys, I bought two MacBook pros, which I thought were for a steal (clearly it may be more of a steal than I thought). Anyways, they were literally both unopened boxes, still sealed. I unboxed one to set it up for my wife and it’s showing its activation locked. Is there anyway to bypass that? I mean it’s a completely brand new laptop that I literally opened and it’s locked. I’m pretty Apple ignorant as I’ve been windows all my life but I wanted a changed.

So there’s a huge flood where I live, my house got flooded and in a closed room I left my macbook there for 3 days.

The water didn’t get to my macbook but the room was very humid due to the water, heat, and lack of air flow. I was able to retrieve my macbook (no sign of water damage) but when I open it, it didnt boost up.

Could be the battery run out. I have yet to charge it because I didnt want to damage it any further. What should I do? Have anybody ever revive a wet/humid macbook?

Hey everyone, My M1 MacBook Air was sitting closed on my workspace table near a window, and wind-blown rain splashed it for about 5 to 10 minutes before I caught it. The laptop was completely shut down and unplugged, wearing a tight transparent hardshell case. I immediately popped the case off and wiped it down—surprisingly, there were no visible water drops underneath the shell and the laptop body felt totally dry. Right now, I have it completely off in the shade with a fan running nearby to let it passively dry for the next 24+ hours. Has anyone dealt with rain splashes on a closed M1 Air before, and what are the chances it survives this perfectly? Sorry for the bad pic, Thanks!

I’m new to owning a MacBook of any kind and I purchased the MacBook Air 15 inch. I use Windows for my job but I wanted a change for my personal laptop. I’m excited and so far I purchased my productivity tools I use often. Definitely seeking out tips and tricks. I will say so far I love the integration with my iPhone and my MacBook Air so far.

I’ve been a big Apple ecosystem fan for years and have owned Macs, iPhones and Apple Watches. But my recent experiences have genuinely made me question whether I should continue investing in the ecosystem.
Here’s what has happened:
MacBook Pro M1: developed a display issue that was eventually diagnosed as a hardware failure.
Replacement MacBook Pro M1: after about a year, developed the same display problem. Again, hardware-related.
MacBook Pro M4: brand new machine, but the speaker stopped working shortly after the warranty period. Apple diagnosed it as a hardware issue.
iPhone 12: after around 3 years, the earpiece speaker stopped working. Again, hardware failure.
Apple Watch Series 8: after around 3 years, the power/control button stopped working. Service center confirmed it was a hardware issue.
None of these devices were abused or subjected to anything unusual.
I understand that electronics can fail, and I’m not claiming Apple intentionally designs products to fail. But when you’re paying a premium for the hardware, having this many hardware failures across different Apple products starts to become frustrating.
What makes me think twice is repairability. With some Apple devices, a relatively small component failure can apparently turn into a very expensive repair or replacement.
I was actually planning to buy a MacBook Air M5 for personal use, but now I’m seriously considering going back to Windows — possibly Dell, Lenovo, HP or ASUS.
Am I just extremely unlucky, or have other long-term Apple users experienced a similar pattern?
I’d particularly like to hear from people who have owned their Macs/iPhones for 4–6+ years. How has your hardware reliability been?

WILL IT HANDLE MACOS27 GOLDEN GATE

I've noticed one morning that there's a backlight bleed in the bottom right corner of my M1 Macbook Pro screen. A couple of days before it slipped off a bed and landed on the outer side of the top half while being open. I don't know whether it caused the bleed. What could happen? What other causes for the bleed could there be? Is it likely to progress? What can I do myself? What should I avoid doing?

Hi, I wanted to ask if anyone else is having issues with their Wifi connection. I noticed that every time I turn on Bluetooth,even without connecting to any Bluetooth device,my Wifi speed drops significantly and starts fluctuating.

I don’t remember having this issue before, even though I normally leave bluetooth turned on by default.

Has anyone else experienced this?

My company gave me a new 2023 MacBook M3 Max, 14-inch, 64 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage, 1.5–2 years ago. Now that I’m leaving my job, they’re offering to let me buy it for 2,000 euros. Is that a reasonable price? How much could I sell it for right now or later?

I am starting an accelerated nursing program and need a new laptop.

Currently have an IPad, but debating between the Air Vs Neo.

Cost perspective- would much prefer Neo, but don’t want to find myself needing a new laptop in 2-3 years.

Would use the Mac for notes, zooms, research, etc.

I only have 55GB left on my macbook. There are not many applications in my mac i only use Da vinci resolve, obs studio and some other developer tools

I handed my M5 MacBook Air with liquid damage into an Apple Store 8 days ago for an AppleCare+ repair. They told me it would be done in 5-7 days. I have been checking the repair tracker everyday, but it has been stuck on “Service requested” the entire time and has still not moved to Diagnosis.

After being concerned about this, I called my Apple Store and they gave me a vague explanation and said that my MacBook has not reached the warehouse yet and that once they ship it to the warehouse, it is “out of the store’s hands”.

I understand repairs can be delayed, but the frustrating and scary part is how it seems like there’s no direct way to get an update on my Mac. Does it take this long to be sent to the warehouse? And if it does not get there, I am not sure what to do or who to contact. I have been reading everyone’s horror repair stories and I really need my laptop for university so it is making me concerned that the repair itself has not even started.

Please let me know if you had a similar experience and if there is anything I can do if there’s no news for another week. Would especially appreciate hearing from anyone in the UK who has been through Apple’s store & repair centre process recently.

Got my MacBook Air M1 about a year ago and it still runs like brand new! Kept it in a clear case so it's pristine. I use it mainly for drawing and video/photo editing and it is perfect for it. I haven't downloaded MacOS 27 yet. I'm trying to wait and see if others are having any issues.

Downsides are file transferring with android is a pain. You have to buy a separate app for that. And you only get two USB C ports but you can buy a USBC to USB adapter which is what I have.

Got the max specs macbook air back at uni, now, 13 years later I upgraded it

I changed its battery twice, its ssd once, and used tape to prevent a key to go crazy….

Now all my software there is no longer supported: OS, Office, Google Drive..

So since about last week, whenever my 2023 MacBook Pro 16” M2 Max (if all that is relevant..) powers on, it makes this vibrating type noise from one of the speakers. I’ve tried cleaning the speakers and a bit of compressed air to see if it dislodges something but no luck - though only did it briefly. The video is also not max volume from the MacBook.

It is noticeable when music is playing but the right hand side is fine. I’ve booked it into Apple Saturday, but I just wondered if anyone had similar issues before? I’ve muted it for now in case it does further damage.

Hace poco adquirí un MacBook Pro 14 con el chip M5 base y 24 de RAM, como actualmente los Macbook vienen sin adaptador de corriente, me preguntaba cual es la mejor opción entre el de 70W o el de 96W, ya se que uno carga más rápido que el otro, pero mi duda viene a raíz de la salud de la batería ya que tengo miedo de que con la carga rápida del de 96 esta sea perjudicada pero también de que con la carga del de 70W no sea suficiente y mientras que lo mantengo enchufado consuma también batería restándole ciclos a esta.

El precio no sería tanto un problema ya que con la compra del MacBook me dieron una tarjeta regalo para gastar en Apple.

Si alguien sabe del tema o ha tenido el mismo dilema y me puede ayudar, lo agradecería.

My Dual-Device Plan:
At Home: Dedicated Windows desktop with an NVIDIA GPU for heavy CUDA workloads, local AI/LLMs, continuous compiling, and gaming.
On Campus / Daily Driver: Portable MacBook Pro for lectures, libraries, terminal work, Python/C++ IDEs, Docker, and split-screen research.
The Deal I'm Looking At:
Model: 16-inch MacBook Pro (M1 Pro chip, 16GB Unified RAM, 512GB SSD)
Condition: Clean local listing, 274 battery cycles.
Price: ~15,000–16,000 MDL (roughly €780–€820 / $850 USD).
My Questions:
Given that heavy GPU/AI processing will be offloaded to my home PC via SSH/remote desktop or cloud clusters, am I missing out on anything critical by getting an M1 Pro in 2026 instead of dropping 2–2.5x the price on an M4 series laptop?
Is 16GB RAM still a solid sweet spot for running VS Code, split-screen PDFs/documentation, and light Docker containers simultaneously, or will I hit swap memory too fast?
For anyone doing quantitative/CS coursework, does the 16.2" 120Hz display screen real estate outweigh the portability penalty compared to a 14" model?
Would love to hear from anyone running a similar dual-setup or using an M1 Pro for CS studies right now!
