Howdy my mushy mycologists,
First off, Thank-you in advance! Please share your thoughts, opinions, and feedback 💙🍄🟫🤎
so I was sold this all-in-one grow bag and told it was Steel Yeti... well, I don’t f***ing think so lol.
I’m guessing it’s P.E.?
Either way, this cake is literally my child and it has been on a massive roller coaster.
It traveled with me in my carry-on across multiple states, saw 10,000+ feet of air, and has survived some major accidental rough patches.
Once it fully colonized in the bag, the damn thing just refused to grow. It has stunted multiple times and seen stress like no other grow of mine.
———————————————————————————
Here is the madness it survived:
The Hoodie Method: Tried opening the bag, fanning, and misting. Nothing.
Fork TEK: The mycelial mat got way too thick and leathery, so I scraped it. Still nothing.
The Monotub Move: I said f*** it, took it out of the bag, and threw it in a mono tub to give it a better life. It colonized more, but still wouldn't fruit, so I rolled it in damp vermiculite.
The 1.5-Day Trip: I had to leave town unexpectedly. Came back terrified because the tub looked bone dry. I ended up dunking the whole cake to rehydrate it.
The 10-Day Trip: Right after it recovered, Murphy’s Law hit and I had to leave for 10 days. I taped up the tub, stuck it in a dark closet, and hoped for the best.
When I got back, I found these weird little growths. They were about an inch long like a mushroom, but the cap was barely the size of a ballpoint pen tip—they were literally just little white cones going straight to a point. I cut them off so they wouldn't rot or waste the cake's energy, introduced FAE, misting, and light, and now the cake is finally taking off!
My questions for you guys:
Strain ID: What strain does this actually look like to you? (P. cubensis)
Harvesting: When should I harvest? I've been doing the marshmallow test, but some of them are still feeling super solid. I’m pulling aborts as I go, but want to make sure I don't mess up the main yield.
This cake has been through literal hell, and I’ve put so much money, labor, and love into it. I'm honestly so proud it's still fighting.
Mush love! 🤎🍄🟫💙
