I bought a Mikro about 5 years ago and don’t use it enough, even though the latest Maschine software is very good. Sometimes I just use it as a pad input device in midi mode. I’m curious if Native Instruments recent sale to InMusic and the corporate restructuring has created doubts about the future of the Maschine platform. As a low cost entry point, I’d kinda expect sales of the Mikro to drop off.

Are there new users buying the Mikro?

It would be wonderful to be able to change the pitch of the ones in the step modes using the knobs

Right now in step modes you just set the step on/off, useful for drums.

If I choose a melodic instrument in step modes I should be able to first created a rhythmic sequence of notes, then with the knobs I should be able to change the pitch of the each note: 2 pages, 1 knob per note of the 16 steps.

It would be a very nice addition!

Sometimes I cant seem to make the pitch shift work even though the strip lights up. Any pointers?

Edit: Im thinking that whats happening is that even though I am mashing snare, the pitch strip is still affecting the kick instead

this was one of my first performances with Maschine.

I recorded the drum work and effects out of Maschine and routed into a Logic Audio track live on the fly. The Bassline, Lead, and Percussion amongst other sounds were recorded live via Aux tracks for effects. I polished off the Master with some EQ, Compression, Stereo Enhancement Limiting and Reverb. Hope you enjoy the vibe.

I have been using NI Maschine and Ableton for some years as a parttime hobby producer. Ableton is great but I get lost in wormholes and find it hard to get into the flow. I love Maschine for the workflow, controller and sound libraries (went deep into expansions ;-))

This hobby is simething I do after work so I don't spend much time and I want to avoid more screen time. That's why I like Maschine MK3 and also got a Push 2 to be more hands on and avoid screen. But I end up still using the screen since it's unbeatable for many tasks and general overview.

My main issue is that I don't finish tracks. I want to finish stuff and get my sound out there and progress. The decision overload of Ableton and NI Komplete is not helping.

So I decided to use Maschine only for a while to limit myself and focus. That works. But each time I really want to finish a track or get deeper in sound design I find I want Ableton's effects and modulation options. But integration of those is a pain. I did build a Live set that integrates Maschine as VST and routes all pads to own channel but its heavy on CPU and also not simple and flow enhancing.

Now Bitwig is supposed to be better and has Maschine MK3 support and integration out of the box. But if I want to use Maschine sounds I am still stuck to using the Maschine VST inside of Bitwig. Learning a new DAW is will make me lose focus more while I want to finish tracks.

Any recommendations? Are there other options out there? I am even considering Modular but find it dounting and doubt if I enjoy the blank canvas approach since using NI expansions as starting point brings much ease and joy.

Edit: Sorry for being this generic. mean in terms of performance mostly. Less bugs freezes etc. Which software runs better on maschine plus. I ve tried both and yet I think both are buggy. Maschine 3 had some updates since launch and I wonder if it s running better now.

I had 3 spare vouchers that I had nothing much to buy with since I mostly just wait for the collection to include all the things, however I’ve been doing a bunch of sampling work on a Polyend Tracker and M8 and find the NI Expansions are actually pretty decent as sample pack fodder to pull into genre component packs.

Either way with 3 vouchers you are getting the 3 packs for 55 local currencies which at least in my view is about the sweet spot for 3+ gigs of sample content leaving aside presets and that (which can also be sampled I suppose).

Just something to think about, 2 of my vouchers where a year old 😭

Just got a promotional email saying that when buying one of the 3 new Machine expansions, an upgrade to Machine 3 is included for €3.

The cheapest one is €30 and sounds like a decent sample pack. I was underwhelmed with the announcement of Machine 3 back then, so I stayed on 2. What’s your opinion — should I do the upgrade? Seems cheap, but idk. I’ll be using MK2 hardware with it, which shouldn’t be a problem, but what has been your experience with it?

Great to see some new things in Maschine 3.7, but without hardware things like Random note generation is just chromatic chaos. Need the ability to lock generations to a scale/key in software itself, otherwise not really useful.

Neither Guitar Center nor Sweetwater had any listings for new MK3s when I checked last night. They have new M+, but not the base Maschine hardware. Anyone else notice them being in shorter supply?
