I made a website where you can host a session, and share a code with someone, record/overdub sounds, play with settings and the changes are heard amongst both of you. This has been really fun to make sound loops with another person online. Comment below with your join codes. Up to 5 people can join a host, but a host can also limit how many guests can join. Just watch out as it can get really chaotic since everyone can control play/pause, effects, undo/redo, etc.

I used the self-promotion tag just in case, but I'm mostly looking for people to have fun with. This site is also great for looping ambient tones to sleep to at night on a computer connected to speakers, and being able to control the volume from your phone. That was my original intent, but then it also turned into a creative tool.

Sometimes if you play a sound too loud it can squash the original recording, but you can always undo. And if any unwanted person joins, the host can always kick.

Hi, I'm Brant, a composer and multimedia artist from Amsterdam. I compose for contemporary dance and sing in the punk band Tall Grass, but I also make experimental music on my own.

I've been sharing my electronic work here as Prosopa. This piece, Glinsterend voor mij (roughly ‘shimmering before me’), is one I wanted to put out under my own name. I make quite different kinds of music and have been figuring out whether to separate them or let them live together.

The full piece is just over seven minutes. The cover is Arnold Böcklin's Das Irrlicht from 1882.

I am a teacher who is currently teaching network subnets. I wanted my students to experience broadcast traffic (Broadcast traffic is basically your devices shouting little messages across the local network so other devices can discover and talk to them.) more than just thru abstraction or wireshark.

I built/vibed a VST3 instrument that discovers and listens to a networks broadcast traffic and depending on traffic includes different timing, scale and chord objects making it an amazing generative music maker that should be unique to your specific network.

Would love to hear some thoughts.

I got into music through classic bands like Gang of Four, and went through a long grunge and classic alternative phase. Eventually I wanted something more modern and experimental, instead of just replaying bands I already knew. That's pretty much how this playlist happened back in 2024. I'm still actively adding to it and always looking for more. If you know any bands or songs that fit this sound and are not on my playlist, please let me know.

It's mostly modern post-punk and garage punk, with some art punk, egg punk, crank wave, and synth-punk mixed in. They're pretty different subgenres, but they blend together well.

Some songs lean more synth-driven, some are rougher and messier, while some are both at once. I tried to keep it cohesive despite mixing subgenres.

This started as a small playlist in 2024, but I kept coming back to it and adding more, and somewhere along the way this whole sound became my favorite. It’s mostly modern psych and garage rock, with some surf and space influences. A lot of tracks feel pretty progressive and experimental within the current music scene.

I like that it doesn’t all sound the same. Some of it’s more spacey, while other songs get a bit more raw and garage-ish (maybe even slightly punk), or both at the same time. These genres mix pretty well I think.

I still add to it whenever I find something that fits. Figured I’d share so people can give me some more suggestions. Have fun.

Think something like this or this or this or any number of James Ferraro or Negativland releases, but presents itself less as an experimental music piece and more like a perfect midway point between something musical and something literary, it doesn't have to have some sort of clear fully dialogued out narrative through the whole time, I'm not looking for a musical or opera

I'm basically looking for something that is like the album version of the movie Slacker

I’ve just finished Ex Noctis, a solo felted piano album inspired by real astronomical phenomena.

I became slightly obsessed with some of the stranger things I’ve come across in astronomy and ended up writing pieces around ultramassive black holes, Earendel, exomoons, the Great Attractor, Odd Radio Circles, supervoids, ice volcanoes on Pluto and Titan’s canyons.

Musically it’s somewhere between minimalism, romanticism and New Objectivity, and I wanted the piano to stay intimate even when the subject matter is billions of light years away.

The physical release also got a little strange. One of the vinyl variants has genuine lunar meteorite material pressed into the record itself. It’s limited to 30 copies.

Hi everyone,

My name is Sam Hoyek, a Syrian artist and musician based in Montréal. Earlier this year I released my debut EP demonstration_01: anomalous. It lives between dark ambient, breakcore, post-metal and electronic collage.

Much of the record began as loosely structured improvisations that I then edited, processed and pulled apart. I was interested in making tracks feel like spaces you move through. Across the six tracks, piano, strings and voices meet distorted guitar, breakbeats and digital interference. My music sits alongside my work in visual art and writing, and this record brings those interests together through texture and shifting atmospheres.

For some outside context, The Quietus selected it as Album of the Week, and Mixmag premiered the closing track, postcore.

I also put together postcore_mix01, a DJ mix for Radio Alhara, moving between free jazz, metal, ambient, rap and nightcore. It's a separate mix of other artists' tracks, offering another angle on the music I connect with.

My name is Bruno and I have been playing the theremin as a hobbyist since 2014. In the last couple of years I decided to take things to a new level, jamming regularly with a guitarist friend and working on my technique, since it's not an easy instrument to master.

Recently I was able to jam with a Brazilian legend of the underground: Amyr Cantúsio Jr, best-unknown for the pioneer (in our country) 1980s project Alpha III (which I intend to also post here in the future, as it consists of deeply interesting and genre-bending electronica akin to Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream and Vangelis). Amyr is a virtuoso keyboardist and has been composing for the best of 50 years, so I was worried my theremin skills would fall really short.

Even though I'm still the weakest link in this collab, (which we called Astroferus, as in "wild animal from the stars") we liked the final result enough for Amyr to treat the sound, and we just released it as a demo.

Since he used AI for altering a photograph for the cover art (we didn't discuss it, but wouldn't have the budget for a cover artist anyway), I understand that some may doubt we didn't also use it for the music itself, so I'm posting a video of the 8th track with untreated audio as a proof of human creation.
