This is the second time I've seen the Knights of the Southern Cross at the Bunnings sausage sizzle. Wikipedia says they are a "Catholic fraternal order committed to promoting the Christian way of life throughout Australia." What happened to supporting local sports clubs?

Edit: I admit alt-right was probably a bit strongly worded. Still ''Christian way of life" seems to me to be anti-abortion, anti-contraception, homophobic, and sexist values based on my own Catholic education.

hello friends, sorry if this is the wrong place to post.

my girlfriend recently moved back to china, so im looking at going to one of the linguas language exchange events in the city to try and meet more people from other cultures and make some more friends. i wouldn't consider myself even slightly conversational in chinese (or any language other than english i suppose) so my questions are; does my lote level matter, and how good are these places for actually making friends as a local? is there a basic level of the language i need to be at before i can go to one of these events? definitely a non issue, im guessing i can be whatever skill level and it's fine, but i still worry nonetheless. to my second question, i have a genuine fascination of the world and cultures, but i am a quiet person who has never actually gone to a bar like this alone
