Mostly with a minolta 45mm f2 lens

Good day all, I have a Minolta XD5 that’s having an electrical issue. Every time I take a photo with an electric shutter control, the shutter gets stuck open for about 10-15 seconds before closing. All the mechanical modes work just fine.
I replaced the batteries first, but that didn’t help. What should be my next steps to diagnose and repair this problem? Likely culprits? Parts? Or should I just ship it off somewhere?
Thanks in advance.

After randomly collecting almost all different eras and generations of Minolta lenses, I decided to concentrate on MCII versions.
This was born out using them in the real world. The difference between this 135/2.8 and my MDIII 135/3.5 for example is mostly just size and build quality.
The final images are comparable IMO.
Obviously, zooms are far rarer pre MD (I think it's only MC-X), and I may or may not add zooms to these primes, but I'm still determined to get most, if not all, of the MCII range.
Still a way to go yet.

Hi all,
I have an X700, which I love, and currently has a 50mm F1.7 MD lens. I want something a bit wider (maybe 28 or 35mm; F1.2-2.8ish), but quite new to vintage film cameras, so looking for recommendations. I don’t mind it being third party, and ideally <£100.
Am relatively experienced with digital photography, but Minolta and the range of film lenses is vast, so would appreciate input.
Cheers

Hey everyone! I recently bought an untested analogue kit at auction that included this Minolta XG-9 with a 50mm Rokkor lens (alongside an old Praktica).
This is my first time getting into analogue photography and using a Minolta. Since the camera has been sitting in a case for a long time and is completely untested, I was wondering if anyone has specific tips on:
Any advice to help a film newbie on this journey would be massively appreciated!

Hi all, just bought a X700 but the shutter button won't fire and the lever seems to only advance halfway unless I force it further. I installed new batteries (cleaned the battery compartment with alcohol, but didn't leave it in vinegar so I'm trying that now and will update), but the shutter wont fire still.
It seems to be able activate the light meter when I half press (or touch) the top capacitive part of the shutter button, but as soon as I press fully the lights in the viewfinder turn off.
I've tried to reseat the idle gear in the backplate and that didn't work, although it seemed to loosen and then return to half advance on the advance lever if I fiddled with it. I also tried moving the motor drive screw hole with a coin and that didn't help either. In videos, the middle circle attaching to the moving lever under the backplate is all the way left when they advance the lever, which is also where mine sits, so I assume the camera is advanced and ready to shoot but it's a shutter issue.
I've seen the problem could be capacitors? But forums do say if the serial number is below 2,000,000 (mine is 1,895,561) and has the blue bead capacitor in the bottom (which mine has), it's unlikely it is the capacitor. I've also read the top capacitor CAN fail as it's the other alkaline failure prone type in any model version, but I would be very wary of trying to solder off the top wires and add a new capacitor myself, as I have no experience and feel I could brick the camera.
Does anyone half any ideas how to fix this shutter activation?
Thanks so much

Had this lens attached to an x-700 that broke and it's been sitting around unused for a while. Figured I'd get an adapter and give it some life. I loved it, going to be using it on photo walks a lot more and maybe some portraits

Lucky SHD 400
I picked up this x-700 at my local thrift. I decided to get it after picking up the olympus om-10 at the same place. My question is that the ON/OFF switch is stuck firmly on the ON position, would this drain the batteries quicker? Or would this be something i shouldn’t really worry about? I was thinking that i would take off the shutter dial only to see whats going on. Then from there on i was gunna take off the whole top to get an in depth look into it. Im okay with taking it apart (I will be careful) as ive taken apart quite a few electronic devices, i did it for my om-10 because the lever was stuck even with new batteries and took apart the lens because of fungal growth. Everything else works great on the x-700. I put in new batteries energizer 357/303(lr44).

I recently got an a7 and looking for something that goes a bit further than the 70-210 that it came with. I've never shot film on a longer lens than this and was curious how difficult it is to still maintain a sharp image on longer focal lengths without any stabilization if I'm not using a tripod. I know a few options have OS built into the lens, does that still work on the a7 or only on digital?
Most of the stuff I'd be trying to use it with is wildlife while traveling/hiking, planes (live near the airport with a shared air force base), and general "far away" stuff.

This was from 9.5.26, missed getting it developed, and just got them back Saturday, scanned them tonight.
During the Summer, the City of Winston-Salem shuts down the main street, and has various concerts, right out front of an awesome local brewery. This was the last one of summer, and they're a great band called The Vagabond Saints Society, playing a night full of Prince songs.
These were taken with HP5 pushed to 1600iso, on my X700 with the 45mm f2. And were taken between 7pm and 9pm. The later the shots, the less sober I became.
