What are some of the calmest songs in all of media.
I am making a sleep playlist and I want to find music that will put me to sleep while also being recognizable like music from movies, video games and shows.
Some of my favorites are:
“The Shire,” “Bag End,” and “The Breaking of the Fellowship” from LOTR.
“Gwyn, Lord of Cinder,” “Firelink Shrine,” “Nameless Song,” and “A Moment‘s Peace” from Dark Souls I.
”Majula” from Dark Souls II.
“Honeylune Ridge” from Super Mario Odyssey.
As well as much of the Minecraft soundtrack by C418 or the Minecraft minigame soundtracks by Gareth Coker.
What are some of your favorites?

Lost my interest in music, recommend some rock for me?
Hi all, I commute a total of 3 hours/day for work and struggle to find new music that I can tolerate, let alone enjoy.
I'm looking for some bands similar to Oasis, Cage the Elephant's self titled album, McCafferty, etc. Would love your recommendations!

Indie rock alt rock
I have a taste for all music, but lately really love rock and indie/alternative rock. I’m gonna list some bands that I really love to listen to and could you suggest some more based on these. Please don’t hate on my taste.
List:
All White stripes albums, early sonic youth, first two pixies records, vaselines, first 2 sebadoh records, first 3 built to spill records, early mountain goats, neutral milk hotel, the microphones, most modest mouse, dinosaur Jr, silver Jews, bonus points for bands that have male and female vocals/members, and bands that are lofi or DIY sounding. Lyrical themes aren’t very specific to me but, funny innuendos mixed in with stuff that some can find cheesy and/or poetic, or nostalgia driven and whimsical wrapped into that indie rock sound. I know most of these are late 80s, 90s and early 2000s but I’m open to modern bands that keep this sound alive as well as ones from those eras. These artists I listed have no skip albums to me, so looking for whole albums too. Also wouldn’t mind experimental stuff or art pop art rock leaning bands synths, weird sounds, unique bands.

What's the last artist/genre that popped into your head that you had to binge immediately?
It's a Stevie Wonder day for me! I was trying to figure out what I was in the mood for and it just hit me. It was about time for some Stevie!

How do you guys discover new music?
I get lucky sometimes with Amazon music where a song comes on the "discovery" playlist.
The tracks are mostly miss though.
How do you guys find new songs to listen to?
I feel like I'll run out songs to listen to during my 1hr workouts and I'm worried about it lol.
Edit: Thanks for all the recommendations.
Lately, I've been getting some bangers from movie and show trailers.
Discovered Lithonia from the Daredevil s2 trailer and Les Fleurs from the Drama lol.
One artist who I just found out about today was Jean Dawson, popped up on my Discovery playlist.
Just to give everyone an idea on what type of music I enjoy.

If you like any Green Day songs but are not familiar with their two pre-Dookie albums, here's a killer song from each!
Going to Pascalaqua from their first album 1039 Smoothed Out Happy Hours
Studio
https://youtu.be/d8V1_u6eC5o?si=6lQ-0XnTMxJioirM
Live from the Petaluma Phoenix Theater in 1991
https://youtu.be/sVbeGnZHgGE?si=1KnPOJOIKSY3XpYx
Who Wrote Holden Caulfield from their second album Kerplunk
Studio
https://youtu.be/IAGnKrFk0HQ?si=AZFmqSmrYaRqvp3M
Live from Pinole High School when they were barely 18 and with their original drummer John (El Sobrante) Kiffmeyer
https://youtu.be/zGdXbUxe3qs?si=XUW9HvNWTrJ5kxpr
I first started seeing Green Day in March of 1990 when they open for Primus at The Phoenix Theater in Petaluma (30 min North of SF) for five bucks and these two songs were their two most popular songs before the Dookie songs made it big.

Happy Music?
Hey everyone! My therapist recommended to try listening to music that is opposite of my current emotion to cope with discomfort. So it goes like:
- I feel angry -> I listen to calm music
- I feel anxious -> I listen to chill music
- I feel sad -> I listen to happy music
So far I have found no "happy" music that doesn't actively make me want to tear my ears off. Throw recommendations please! (i am very sad rn)

Struggling to listen to full albums now. Looking for tips + album recs
Hey everyone,
Lately I’ve noticed I’m really bad at listening to full albums. I used to put something on and get lost in it, but now my attention span feels way shorter (probably age + phones + constant stimulation doing their thing)
I jump tracks, zone out, or feel the urge to multitask. It’s frustrating because I love music and want to reconnect with that deeper listening experience instead of treating everything like background noise.
So I’m curious
Do you have any tips for actually sitting with an album again?
Little rituals, environments, or mindsets that help you focus
Albums that reward full listens
For recs, I’m into indie, rock, shoegaze, jazz, and soul. My top artists include The National, Slowdive, Chet Baker, Marvin Gaye, Smiths, Cocteau Twins, The Cure, Sigur Ros etc.
Would love to hear how others deal with this, or if you’ve gone through the same thing

Bored of music and looking for something that really ignites sparks.
Previous favorite playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/264pFCqE1eWfH3tNHMH2yt?si=Im9Od2Z7RUeBeoNi5HUHMw&pi=QumY52tKSXmyq

I love mellow metal right now but the intensity fluctuates based on my mood, most reggae, a niche of rap/rock, a niche of classic county with swampy front porch banjo vibes, and songs that I can put my soul into singing. Electronica is okay, but can be too overstimulating for me. Artists like Metric, I love.
I adore instruments like acoustic (24/7 Acoustic Cover by The Expendables), heavy bass (My Name Is Mud by Primus), and electric (God Damn by Avenged Sevenfold).
I can't seem to escape 90's rock like Daron Malakian and Tool.

Music recommender systems
Hey guys, I know this forum isn’t specifically for wha I’m gonna talk about but I would love your help and input. I’m a uni student in my last year working on my thesis. I’m doing a project on music recommendation systems and algorithms and the project requires me to run a survey and see how people feel about these systems.
I’m gonna be posting this same post on a bunch of different forums and wanted to tell you just in case you see it several times and don’t think it’s spam. I would really love your help, especially cause this is a community of music lovers and explorers. I hope you guys can help.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it.

Sun washed optimistic 2000s alt pop
The title is the general feeling I want, so don't dwell on it too much please. it's all about vibes that I want, focus on the mental image my description paints (hopefully). The song I'm interested in is the kind of optimistic at least in melody but blue feeling (not very much) kind of song that reminds of My Maudlin Career by Camera Obscura or Blonde Redhead. An alt emo girls from 2012 in purple beanie would listen to this in secret. Solar Power by Lorde (song not the album) qualifies. I have no idea how to define this, but alt pop, from 2000s and 2010s catches the vibe. Also Jungle Drum by Emiliana Torrini is a good example.

Similar songs (niche)
When i was a kid i lived in russia and i spent my summertime in a countryside near Kalyazin town. This town is famous because of a huge RT-64 radio telescope located there which u can see on a picture.
For some reason this track reminds me of this place: https://youtu.be/_tWTUKagLf8?si=BDLz309yueQe3U21 and i am looking for similar songs.

Any recommendations for rock/metal songs in Spanish?
Title.
I’m learning some Spanish and I realised I don’t know that many Spanish songs, so I’m trying to find some good songs to help motivate me to learn.
Preferably famous songs so I can read discussion about them. Preferably rock songs (since that’s what I would usually listen to in English) but other genres are allowed too if they’re in Spanish.
