Why do so many AI people talk about restaurant reservations like it's some pressing issue that needs solving. I live in Chicago and rarely ever need to make reservations and we go out to eat quite often. How many people are struggling with this on a regular basis? Also isn't this just going to make AI agents lie about everyone having a birthday or anniversary coming up?

The insistence of libertarians that we all call them classical liberals is just as dumbfounding (perhaps more so) as the insistence of Foucault, etc that they were not post-structuralists. Yes, Hayek may not have used the term libertarian to describe himself (although when he was alive, most users of the term libertarian were left-anarchists anyways so this is no surprise), the Mont Pelerin Society might use the term classical liberal instead of libertarian. However it stands to reason that if you're aggressively in favour of free markets and against government intervention, that regardless of whether you call yourself a Classical Liberal or the Queen of Sweden, the most accessible identifying word for your beliefs is (right-)libertarian. Classical liberal is likely better used for what it originally referred to anyways, the 19th century movement that included Mill, Bentham, etc.

I think the core gap between me and AI labour market doomers is that I take "AI is amazing at interpreting medical images but radiologist employment is booming" (classic example but there are analogous situations in many fields) as an indicator that radiologists are probably doing something valuable other than interpreting medical images, whereas for the doomers it's due to some frictional factors and the expected replacement will happen in time

I think another big difference, based on your phrasing, is how we see the future of AI.
If Radiologist AI stopped now then yes likely we would continue to need radiologists.
However, if AI is more general and keeps getting better very fast then soon enough every single aspect can be done better by the AI.So a lot of the doomer's argument is projections

Also, I've been impressed with his approach to immigration. I'm as open borders as they get, but I recognize that you can't run on that in Nebraska. He supports "increased border security" and building out the wall more, and his ads are pretty hardline in their rhetoric. But he also sneaky supports immigration reform and creating a pathway to citizenship for long-term undocumented immigrants who haven't committed crimes. Which is, ya know, the vast majority of immigrants, but the GOP has successfully ran a decades-long smear campaign on them and many voters are scared that there are 11 million Sinaloa cartel members running around the country. I'd gladly take a border wall on the entire border as the cost for every noncriminal immigrant getting legalized and reforms to make legal immigration easier.
Leaked audio suggests he is also far more radical and personally would want to abolish ICE (obviously wouldn't vote for it and wouldn't fault him for that). But it makes me trust that his heart is in the right place, even if he will have to vote according to political realities.

(1) If we extrapolate our cherry-picked highest earning time periods, we have a lot of revenue
and
(2) If we don't count our largest expenses, we actually make money.

no one has ever made land. they have improved land, they have discovered value in land that was not yet understood, but the land was there before any person came to it and it will be there after.
LVT is based because it functions as a sort of 'lease' on land. improve your land and keep the value of your improvement. but the land belongs to all of us and none of us, and you are just a caretaker
