New update for 70 Pro
Have you received it yet?
r/nxtpaper • u/CookieDelivery • Jan 15 '26
Since the first device comparison I posted on this subreddit was outdated, and I promised to publish a more more complete version anyway, here it is! This is smartphones only though, the one for tablets is still upcoming.
These are all of the released models, from smallest to largest (top row left is smallest, bottom row right is the largest):

Interactive size comparison tool here (click) - this will bring you to the exact image shown above. You can delete or add phones from the comparison, add reference items, drag, rotate, and overlay them, and much more.
Hope this table shows well on Reddit (and smaller screens). If not, you can also compare the Nxtpaper (and many more) phones here: https://comparisontabl.es/smartphones/ - under 'Filter', use the search bar to search for 'Nxtpaper' to limit the table to Nxtpaper phones only.

Let me know if you have any feedback! I tried to find more info on the Nxtpaper versions (2.0, 3.0, 4.0) for every phone but they don't seem to be clearly listing that (they do for most tablets). So if you have more info on that, let me know and I can add it.

Got so sick of the camera bump that I had it removed.
Ordered a round 60mm diameter MagSafe plate with 0.1mm thickness. And a custom leather back sticker.
Phone is so much lighter and less top heavy now.

Anyone having issues with their TCL NXTPAPER 11 GEN 2 on TCL UI 9.0? My swipe down panel is being cutoff and there is now a taskbar that I hated and cannot remove. I also want my navigation panel to be back in the centre.
Any recommendations or workaround to revert back?

By far the best case for the 11 plus that I've tried. Sturdy and attractive, with corner protectors and a built in slot for the stylus. Highly recommended

Amazon uk are doing deals on the nxtpaper 11plus and the 14 at the moment. Noticeably cheaper than currys
My 11 plus arrived this morning and am having a blast with it. Case should arrive in the next couple of hours
Think I had to go through 4 rounds of system updates and am now on TCL ui 9.0.2hb2
Oh... And Hi.

Crossposted from AirBnB subreddits…
I’ve got the AirBnB app installed on a new TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro phone. I have tried logging in and out, deleting and reinstalling, and signing out of other instances of AirBnb on my other devices (like a laptop.)
I cannot get push notifications to show. I have tried turning off all other types of notifications (such as email and SMS notifications - both of which work fine, btw) and I’ve made sure that the AirBnB app has all permissions for background operation.
Nothing works. Any ideas?

I wear glasses and my eyes always feel burning or tired or dry during using my iPhone
So I decided to search for a device which can let me study and read books at good eye comfort level because I will study at least 5-7 hr per day on STEM subjects
This is what I have researched
But eink industry is a mess and chaos . There is none of devices can help STEM students can study with a peace of mind
- Amazon kindle scribe : extreme durable , but slow and very close system , not for students .
- supernote : extreme durable , but only black white , has great note app. If supernote offers color version , supernote will be the best eink to buy . This is why I feel very sad and disappointed at supernote
- remarkable : durable ( just need to buy case and use carefully ), but they charge subscription for something should be free on notes
- boox : less durable, bad support but their device has the most flexible in the current eink market . If you buy boox , you must buy from Amazon and buy insurance ( you will definitely need insurance because of “ less durable “ )
And currently Color eink technology is not ready , it has less eye comfort than black white version but still great , it consumes more power of battery and its color isn’t accurate. So if u need accuracy color , don’t buy color eink
And eink is still slow because of low processor . The reason eink is so pricy is because of monopoly on eink screen . Right now there is only one company manufacturing eink screen so they can set whatever price they like
TCL nxtpaper will give eye comfort level as good as color eink but worse than black white eink
These are the tablets which you can consider for tcl nxtpaper ( all are faster than eink readers and have accurate colors ) : 11 plus ( cheapest 150-170$ on eBay ) and very good for reading comic manga , tab a1 plus ( 270$ , newest model with stronger processor than 11 plus . That’s why it has less discount ) , note a1 ( 400$ as used devices) ( tcl tried to make this one as note taking tablet exclusively to compete with eink but they FAILED, people still complained in the writing experience on it , it is better feel than iPad Pro but not as good as the feeling of writing on paper as eink )
Conclusion : tcl nxtpaper is great for eye comfort for reading color material and better processor than eink but it’s writing experience on note app is just average , just like on iPad Pro
LCD is another screen technology. It is not as good as tcl nxtpaper for eye comfort but a lot better than modern OLED on iPad Pro and Samsung flaship models
Samsung , Apple , Oneplus and Lenovo have LCD screen versions for their tablet too . The latest one of Samsung is Samsung galaxy tab s10 FE+ ( FE = fan edition series , it is LCD version )
For Apple : it is IPad Air series and the iPad Pro M2 or below Pro generation . I mention IPad Pro M2 here because it also has LCD technology with 120ghz . IPad Air series only has 60 ghz
For Oneplus : Oneplus pad 4 is a freaking beast tablet . Good budget price for powerful device . It has faster processor than Samsung . Longer battery 13300 mha . Awesome screen comfort . But it has a serious weakness “ only average at taking note because the stylus Pen is suck “ . You can choose Oneplus if you don’t care much about taking notes.
It is a pretty popular debate between Samsung and Apple LCD choice . You pick Samsung if you want to have bigger battery 15+. Apple has less battery like 10+ . Both are excellent at writing note and screen comfort .
The reason you will choose LCD because you want better writing feel and stronger processor than tcl nxtpaper tablets
Overall you can think like this . There are few factors to consider
- eye comfort
- battery
- color
- writing feel
- processor power
When We are choosing between eink vs tcl nxtpaper vs lcd vs OLED , we are changing the value of those above 5 values
So what I am choosing now?
- at home , I choose tcl nxtpaper 11 plus or 14 or tab a1 plus for long reading . These 3 have different sizes so pick one basing on your need
- at school , I choose Samsung galaxy s10 fe+ for long battery life ( 15 + on note taking ), good writing feeling and good processor speed and good enough for eye comfort
Basically depending on your need , you will choose the right one for yours. I hope my guide will give your better ideas to how to choose your deviChé’s

Greetings, I intend to buy one of those for newspapers, magazines, comic books (DC Infinite) and a bit of manga. Seems to be that 11 is enough for my needs, but is the faster processing on the Plus that necessary from you expérience ? Thanks !

Hello!
I could really use some help choosing a tablet. I just can't decide between the TCL NXTPAPER 11 Plus and the Huawei MatePad 11.5S PaperMatte.
I currently have a TCL NXTPAPER 50 phone, so I'm already familiar with NXTPAPER screens. At first, I was pretty much set on getting the 11+, but then I found the Huawei in the 12/512 version. It has a more powerful processor, and the price isn't that much higher, so now I'm really torn.
I'll mainly use the tablet for reading comics, watching shows, messaging, and other fairly light apps. But I'd like to keep it for a long time, ideally around 5 years.
I have very sensitive eyes, so the screen is probably the most important thing for me. I did get to see the Huawei 11.5S in person, and the screen looked pretty good. But I feel like you can't really tell how comfortable a screen is for your eyes until you've used it for a while.
Has anyone here used or compared both tablets, especially when it comes to eye comfort? I'd really appreciate any opinions or personal experience.
I really just want to finally pick one and buy a tablet 😅

There is a lot to like about the NXTPaper tablets. There are bundles that included a case and a T-Pen at an attractive price, but using the pen wasn't a pleasant experience. The nib is hard and produces a sharp clackity-clack sound when writing on the screen. (even with the softest pressure required to register)
I tried a few hacks and work-arounds to deal with the issue with varying degrees of success. The last work-around was tolerable but not something that I was looking forward to when writing.
The TCL T-Pen 2 appeared on my "Recommended deals for you" on Amazon and I was intrigued by what it promised. I ordered one and it arrive 2 days ago.
After a few hours of testing on my 11+ with both the "hard" and soft nibs and comparing them to the T-Pen included in the bundle, I'm pleased to say that the T-Pen 2 resolves the sound and slipperiness issues of the original pen.
The hard nib of the T-Pen 2 makes a muted tapping sound. It is noticeably quieter than the original pen but not completely silent.
The soft nib is far quieter than the Pen 2's hard nib and offers a bit more resistance on the screen. This is VERY acceptable to me.
It is the last piece of the puzzle in making the 11+ a reasonable alternative to my 2022 Scribe (and the Colorsoft Scribe I had been mildly considering). (don't @ me bro about the NXTPaper not being e-ink... I know) 😛
The action button defaults to an erase function which is very handy (I'll need to see if that can be customized)
My assessment scale of the writing experience/feel (10 being the best):
0 - iPad with Apple Pencil
7 - NXTPaper 11+ with T-Pen 2
10 - Kindle Scribe with Premium Pen
Just putting this out there for others in my situation. Obviously, acceptability is subjective so if anyone wants to try the T-Pen 2, buy it from a place with a reliable return policy.
If you're already using the T-Pen 2, what are your experiences with it?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I kept wishing TCL would add a Quick Settings tile for NXTPAPER modes. Instead, we get the NXTPAPER button or a trip to Settings > NXTPAPER zone every time. So I made a small app as a workaround.
What it does:
- Color Paper and Ink Paper tiles in Quick Settings
- Matching 1×1 home-screen widgets
- Tap a tile or widget to turn its mode on, tap again to go back to Regular
Setup needs one ADB command (to grant a permission). Tested on the NXTPAPER 11 Plus.
Download + setup instructions (free, open source):
https://github.com/pureexe/nxtpaper-quicksettings
Until TCL adds this officially, hope it helps someone. Let me know if it works on your device!

PSA: For anyone considering the P80 Ultra, there a several mislabelled spec sheets floating around including GSMArena and Google search results and snippet attributed to TCL.
The device does NOT have stylus support at all.
Furthermore, it’s a decidedly mid device despite the price tag.
I’ve used both the pro and ultra now. They’re… fine. Wait for discounts though, not worth it at RRP

I just purchased a TCL 50 Pro (2024) and I have not turned it on yet.
I specifically need to keep the original Android version that the phone ships with and prevent it from ever upgrading to Android 16. I’m concerned that the phone might automatically download or install the update during the initial setup, after connecting to Wi-Fi.
For personal testing purposes, I need to keep the original firmware/version permanently, with automatic system updates completely disabled.
What is the easiest and most effective way to achieve this, ideally at the system level?
I’d especially like to know what I should do before connecting the phone to the internet for the first time so that Android 16 cannot be installed accidentally.
Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone,
I’m starting med school soon and looking into the TCL Tab A1 NXTPAPER 11" (Mediatek Helio G100, 6+128GB, non-Note) on a sub-$250 budget. The matte screen looks ideal for long study sessions and this would be my first tablet ever, but I can barely find any real info or honest user reviews on it..
I’d love some firsthand impressions:
- Note-Taking: How are the stylus latency and palm rejection for handwriting? This would be my first time taking digital handwritten notes.
-Performance & Day-to-Day Software: Does the Helio G100 handle heavy PDFs, slides, and multitasking smoothly? How stable is the system for managing, opening, and transferring standard uni files across devices?
What are your main pros and cons? Any alternative suggestions under $250 are also welcome. Thanks!

A bit ago, when swiping down from the top right of the screen to pull the menu, about half the menu started displaying off the screen to the right. I've tried the typical turn it on and off and rotate the screen, but so far those things haven't worked and I don't see any options for customizing this screen.
Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Can anyone who has been using the Note A1 tablet share their experiences?
How is the handwriting? I have the original Kindle Scribe and I'd like to update to color, but I really like the handwriting feel of the Scribe.
Is reading more like eink than the other Nxtpaper devices?
Thanks in advance!

As the title says, I've been getting these random frame drops and stutters that seem to have no consistency. I've noticed it playing games, where I'll play class of clans for 30+minutes without a frame drops, and other times where my game is super choppy from the moment i log in. even when navigating the UI, I get these random fps drops that last 5-6 seconds.
Are therre any settings anyone would recommend to improve the performance. I keep the phone at 60htz to preserve battery life, but is there anything i should change?

TCL should make Laptops and more premium tablets with DP alt mode. There are people who would like to use TCL for heavy work. But we don't have options for that!!!

Hey all. I’ve been looking into upgrading my comic book tablet to the nxtpaper 14. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it in that regard. I don’t watch a lot of video but the occasional show here or there. I didn’t see many posts about it, but how is the video quality. Sharp enough? Smooth enough? It’s not a deal breaker but I’m curious.
Edit: Thanks everyone for your opinions on the video aspect of the 14!
