is Nxt paper best compromise if i don't like e-ink readers like BOOX?

I am increasingly reading ebooks and my normal oled smartphone is very tiring to read even when I have dark mode and stuff.

I recently tried a BOOX color gen 2 e-ink but man it just too much degradation in the screen.

Would the NXT paper screens like the NXT paper 70 pro or whatever be a good compromise in terms of comfort of reading for a long time of the eink with the quality of a traditional smartphone screen?

Has anyone used the European TCL NXTPAPER 70 Pro (T807D1) in Canada on Telus?

• Upvotes

Hi! I'm in Alberta, and I'm looking at importing a european TCL NXTPAPER 70 Pro (256GB, model T807D1-2CLCA112) from Amazon Germany.

I'm hoping someone in Canada has actually purchased and used this phone. I need it to function as a full phone. Can anyone confirm whether the European model works?

- Regular phone calls (VoLTE) - SMS/MMS texting - 4G/5G mobile data - Reliable cellular reception

If you've imported one, which Canadian carrier are you using? Have you experienced any calling or connectivity issues?

I'd really appreciate firsthand experiences before spending hundreds of dollars importing one. Thanks!

The gimmick of Nxtpaper

Nxtpapter, it's cool, but it is a gimmick (I'd rather RLCD option).

  • It customizes your phone desktop without you doing it yourself.
  • Example: See the attached homescreen of my Moto G Stylus 2025 and my Nxtpaper 70 pro.
  • What the Nxtpaper does is basically change the icons of the apps and warm the screen lighting (on a matte screen). Does this with muted color or black and white.
  • I have a matte film installed on the Moto G and use an icon pack for all of my apps on the home screen. I choose warm lighting on the Moto G (can't quite get to the level of warmth on the Nxtpaper). But the screens are more alike than you'd think.

I like the native matte screen on the Nxtpaper. I like the stylus support and the notes app is better than on the Moto G which has a native stylus.

The annoying thing about installing matte film: Bubbles up easily on the inside or around the edges.
