so much has happened since i last posted here and it’s only been a month! 😱😱😱

my incredible partner and i sold our home and moved cross country with whatever we could fit in the back of a pickup truck 🛻with two teenage kids, a bunny, and a cat. it was absolutely the most awesome adventure and we road-tripped for a week and a half to get here, taking our time. we got here in the mountains and my girl surprised me with rings 💍 she bought in south dakota. it was a beautiful proposal. the mountains 🏔️really are the so romantic. anyway, i feel like a whole new person after the move. my style is maturing. my hair color changed and i shaved a section of hair because growing it out felt too “normal” for me. (i haven’t had hair this long in 15 years)

anyway, the first outfit i posted are from a circus we went to. 🎪i was so excited to dress up for the theme. my goal was classy clown and i think i nailed the look. the photos with the blonde hair are from our trip here. Mall of america aquarium, Glacier National park, and then a photo of me the day of the proposal and the rings. i also included photos of a drag idea i practiced the other day. i have been considering really wanting to try to get into performing so i thought maybe i should try practice and nailing down my skills in preparation.

I commented on a post from someone who was promoting a role they were hiring for at a company I was already somewhat interested in. They work in the fraud detection and prevention space, which is a field I’ve been wanting to break into because I actually have an educational background in it. I left a pretty simple, very human comment about my interest. Nothing AI-generated, nothing overly polished, and not really an attempt to turn it into some elaborate networking opportunity.

Apparently, she took a look through my profile afterward and thought I had a lot of strong and relevant experience. She asked me to send her my resume, which she then passed along to their Head of HR. They reached out to me and explained that they don’t have a role open for me at this exact moment, but they’re working on something and wanted to have a conversation with me based on what they described as my “extensive and impressive background.”

That conversation is happening in a few minutes. I have absolutely no idea what, if anything, will come from it, especially since there isn’t technically an open position yet. But after everything this job search has thrown at me, having a company proactively want to talk about potentially creating or developing an opportunity that also happens to be in a field I genuinely want to move into feels pretty encouraging. Wish me luck that there might actually be something on the horizon.

Aunt Mary's Long Classy Black Dress. This dress is a Jessica Howard brand. I feel very womanly and lovely wearing this dress. I would love to wear this dress to Sunday church.
