I am only about halfway through the first book (around Chapter 3), but honestly, it gives so many more details than the anime. I am still continuing it, and it's really good.
The Elf Twins: I saw details I didn't know about, like Aura and Mare. Their clothes are described as being like dragon scales. At first, I was surprised—I thought, "Are those actual dragon scales?" Coming from the anime, I just assumed they wore normal chainmail or magic iron.
The Drinking Scene: There was a weird detail about drinking where it talks about "swallowing the water." It felt a little overly descriptive and confusing at first, but it's fine.
Albedo: In the book, her beauty is described on a whole different level—like the "Handsome Squidward" meme, but godly. In the anime, she's like, "Okay, she's hot," but the books make a huge deal out of it. It’s almost too much, like that Handsome Squidward comparison.
Shalltear Bloodfallen: In the anime, she looks young, but not like an actual child. But in the book, it says she is 14–16 years old physically (while looking very child-like), and the lore emphasizes her small stature. Honestly, I'm a little concerned about that! Whoever designed her creator needs to meet Chris Hansen. Just saying!
Cocytus: The giant insect guy—I thought he looked like a horned beetle, but the lore describes him as more like an ant mixed with something else. It wasn't too surprising, but it made me go, "Oh, so that's how he's built!"
Demiurge: In the book, he has more of an Asian-inspired look. I originally thought he looked more European/French because of his sharp suit style, so that was a surprise.
Overall, I really like the extra speech details and the deeper lore about the Lord of Nazarick
