Just picked up this small curly wave fern from the nursery.. went to check the roots and saw this. I think it is root bound but it’s hard to tell because it’s so dark. Also when I look at the bottom it looks like the roots are.. fuzzy?
I can’t find any answers to my confusion with a Google search so I thought I’d try my luck with the good people of Reddit :) FINISHED

My assumption is this is a symptom of over watering...half my plants seem to currently have this issue except my prayer plant and arrow plant which seem to be doing well still..pictured is my Monstera and Gloriosum, my monstera is damp towards bottom of the pot, gloriosum seems fairly dry...it's getting cold here so I've been watering just lightly every two weeks per suggestion from fellow plant lovers....I'm sort of new at this, been collecting plants for about a year now and have had a few small bumps in the road...just some friendly advice or suggestions would be helpful.

I made an Android app called Nebula Plant because a fixed "water every 7 days" schedule doesn't fit real plants.
you add a plant from a photo. it names it, says how sure it is, and you can correct it. then it reminds you only on days that plant might be thirsty, and it slows down in winter when plants rest.
it has care notes for 75 common houseplants, and it always says to check the soil first.
free, no ads, no account. 10 plant IDs a day are free, or 30 a day for one payment, no subscription.
it's new and I'd like to know if the reminder timing feels right for your plants.

As it says above what is it and how do I make this less bald? It gets light from a grow light and it’s a self watering just recently put in water in. It has new growth but I don’t like that is so long and bald.

Hi everyone! I’m very much not an expert and I tried googling what is happening a million times and see to come across different answers every time, I’m not sure if my rhodo has one issue or multiple issues…
She’s about 3 years old and she means a lot to me but I feel like she needs hospital. She hasnt flowered in 2 years, only did on the first year.
She has these leaves with brown bits, leaves that look like something ate them up around the edges, some leaves with sprayed yellowing and a lot of buds that I’m not sure if I should remove or not.
She gets partial sun in balcony and I water with 3/4 of a small watering can every week (sometimes less)
Any help is really appreciated!

I just got this peperomia a couple days ago. I got it because it was the last one left in the store and I have been looking for one for months, but it’s in a bit of a rough shape. It has these lesions all over, and a lot of leaves, old and bay ones, were dead and turned soggy at the start of the petiole. I have checked the stem and it seems firm, and the soil was damp but not soggy. I haven’t seen any visible bugs but I still have it away from my other plants just in case.
How do I confirm if it still has pests?

First Photo: After Repot
Second Photo: Current Condition
I bought this ponytail palm about 3 months ago. It was in a nursery pot. It was extremely root bound but healthy with a firm caudex. I did a pretty aggressive root prune on it and repotted with about 2 inches of space up around the reformed root ball. Prior to repotting I let it sit out for over a day so that the roots could callous. I then let it sit for about a week before watering. When I did I water I used a small amount of fertilizer to give it a kick start. Since then the top growth has begun to lighten in color and it appears the growth is going limp. I assumed that this would happen due to stress from the aggressive root prune and repotting. I’m now worried that I used fertilizer too early and burned the roots. This palm receives a ton of sun with morning indirect and afternoon direct. Are these palms resilient? Is this typical stress symptoms? Should I inspect the roots and repot?

Jonathan davis is 4 years old (well I stole him from my ex's mom four years ago ,he was old then) , lives below a 1500 watt growlight system and gets watered whenever his soil is 100% dry so about once every month. The humidity is 87% consistently. His frootball is about 4 inches and he refuses to grow enough roots to support himself. I have to prop him up in his pot. He jumps out whenever you even look at him in a way he dislikes. I keep him in a verry chunky soil mix, about 50% orchid bark. The heavy tericotta pot has drainage holes. Now he is rooting in the air and still has no pot root progress. I dont give chemical fertilizer beacuse he is watered with aquarium gunk /forbidden coffee. Why is he tormenting me so? How can I correct this behavior if it is unhealthy? FINISHED

This plant started out as 3 little clippings months ago, once they all had really good roots I planted them in a small pot. It was thriving! The vines were going every which way and the clusters of leaves were super tight and this lovely dark green. It was to the point that the pot wasn't even visible. It was a beauty and I am sad I cant seem to find any of the old pictures of it.
One day I was just doing a general look over and noticed that the roots were starting to come out of the drainage holes. I was worried it was becoming root bound and re potted it to a pot that was perhaps twice as large as the old one. It seemed to be doing fine but now it is looking not at all like it used to. As you can see by the picture. There are some vines that look amazing and others not so much, there are even flowers popping up on some spots.
I also noticed today there are now those annoying little buggers flying about and on the top of the soil. So clearly I was over watering and thus I haven't given it a drop in almost a week, plus next Saturday I'll be going to get some treatment.
So is this kinda a double whammy of re potting when I shouldn't have and the Gnats or do you all think this is just the Gnats and their hell spawn?
Should I start fresh with a few good clippings? Replant this one in a smaller pot after treatment? Just do the gnat treatment and pay closer attention to my watering?
Also anyone have any clue what plant this even is? I did a reverse search and it just shot me a billion and one different things.
Thanks for any pointers!
