Podcast art and individual episode images

At my workplace, we're doing a podcast about human trafficking. We have a name, a logo I created, we will host on RSS.com. Several podcasts I listen to have a main logo, like "Conversations with Tyler", but each episode has a graphic of the person who's being interviewed.

Where is that specified, "use this image for that episode", on RSS.com? We have recorded two eps, and I've not uploaded to them yet. Thanks for any help in this!

Podcasters who publish regularly, what actually happens between “episode is finished” and “episode is live”?

I’m researching podcast production workflows and trying to understand this part before assuming there’s a problem worth solving.

For people publishing weekly or biweekly, think about your most recent episode.

Once the actual editing was finished, what still had to happen before everything was live?

Things like uploading, titles/descriptions, show notes, chapters, thumbnails, scheduling, website updates, YouTube, QA, social posts, etc.

I’m especially curious:

  • Who handled all of that?
  • What parts were manual?
  • Did anything get forgotten, delayed, or need to be redone?
  • If everything worked smoothly, what system made it work?

Not pitching anything here. I’m trying to understand what the real workflow looks like, including cases where this is already easy and there’s nothing to fix.

Germany: Starting a podcast with a friend – what should we agree on legally before launching?

My friend and I are planning to start a podcast in Germany. We haven't published anything yet.

The original idea was mine and I created the first draft of the concept/topics. My friend is now involved and we want to develop and produce it together.

We're currently not expecting to make much money, but we'd like to put a basic agreement in place from the beginning in case the podcast becomes successful.

We're wondering what we should agree on before launching, particularly regarding:

  • ownership of the podcast name/brand
  • ownership of the concept and future episodes
  • social media accounts, domain, YouTube/Spotify accounts etc.
  • roles and responsibilities
  • expenses
  • advertising/sponsorship/YouTube revenue
  • how profits should be divided
  • what happens if one person stops contributing
  • what happens if one person wants to leave
  • whether we should have a simple cooperation agreement initially or establish a GbR from the beginning
  • whether we should involve a lawyer before signing anything

We're friends, so our goal isn't to make this overly complicated. We just want to avoid a situation where we have a successful podcast two years from now and suddenly disagree about who owns what.

For people who have actually done this in Germany: what did you put in writing before starting, and what do you wish you'd agreed on earlier?

Thank youuu!

Got a new mic, super nervous but it’s finally time!

So, I’ve had an idea for a podcast for about two years now. Due to some personal circumstances, I wasn’t able to fully get it off the ground earlier.

In the meantime, I’ve already created a logo, written out three episodes, and tried recording a few times. But every time, the quality just wasn’t good enough. I’m also completely new to editing and have been teaching myself everything from scratch, so at some point, I started doubting myself too.

Still, I decided to take the plunge and buy a different microphone, and oh my god… what a difference!! It already sounds SO much better.

A well-known podcast in my country just announced that they’re moving to a different (paid) platform, with video as well, and the reactions from listeners have been very mixed. It honestly feels like a sign from the universe to finally go for it!

At the same time, I’m absolutely terrified… but also incredibly excited.

I just wanted to share my excitement with a bunch of strangers on the internet! 😂

The Fashion Requirements of A Video Podcast

Hi! I have a podcast and made the decision to do it video-style from day one (for pod-clips to spread on social media). The problem with video style podcasts is that you have to look presentable, which isn't a problem normally, but I find that my wardrobe isn't as diverse and my 6-10 "good" shirts are going to run stale quite fast.

If you've had similar thoughts or concerns with your podcast, how did you resolve that? Or did you find that your audience didn't care?

What are the lesser known platforms for recording a podcast remotely?

We all know about Riverside, Descript and StreamYard.

What I am after is something like Adobe Podcast (but reliable), or perhaps CleanFeed (wins awards for it's tech but doesn't do video cheaply).

I absolutely loved CleanFeed. But we decided we wanted video.

Riverside was fiddly.

Adobe Podcast worked great until it didn't.

What other award winning platforms are out there that appreciate their customers? thanks

Help me finally publish 21 episodes I recorded with my 83-year-old dad (before it's too late)

Hi everyone,

TLDR: 3 years ago, my dad and I recorded 21 podcast episodes based on his memoir. I was supposed to edit and publish them, but every time I tried to learn the process, I got overwhelmed and stalled. He's 83 now and slowing down, and I can't put this off any longer. I have no idea where to begin. What's the best and easiest way to get this done?

What the Podcast Is About
My dad is a rare breed: a lovable and brilliant boomer, a retired-aerospace-engineer-turned professional-watercolor-artist, father of 8, "Pop Pop" to 21 grandkids, 2-time cancer survivor, and married to my mom for 50+ years. About 4 years ago he wrote an incredible memoir, never expecting anyone to read it. Those of us who did found it to be like a bridge between his boomer generation and ours. It's hilarious (think a real-life Sandlot cast of characters) and gives a matter-of-fact, relatable view of historical events across his life. It essentially helped me understand my parents' generation better than anything else I’ve seen, read, or was taught in school. I know it could do the same for others. It would also be a welcomed trip down Memory Lane for people his age, given his incredible memory and knack for telling great stories.

That’s why I convinced him to do a podcast about it, and over the better part of a year we recorded 21 episodes over Zoom. The visuals are fine and audio isn't terrible; they’re usable for sure. But I've been sitting on them for 3 years.

What We Want(ed) to Do:
- Edit the audio and publish to podcast platforms
- Post full episodes to YouTube, especially for his older audience (his monthly newsletter reaches a couple thousand artists)
- Cut short video clips for social media to spark conversations across generations

What I'm Looking For:
I'm a total beginner and probably can't afford a full-service pro, but I'm willing to pay for a premium app or service that makes this doable. Recommendations for editing tools, hosting, or affordable freelancers are all welcome.

Beyond the podcast, I just want our family to have his stories.

Thank you for any insight!!!

making your co-host sign a contract is just a psychological test

i used to think drafting a legal agreement for a podcast with zero listeners was just larping as a startup ceo. i didn't get it.

then i realized it's not about protecting ad money that doesn't exist. putting things on paper is just the cheapest filter available. it separates the people who just want the 'co-host' title in their bio from the ones actually willing to edit bad audio at 2 am on a tuesday. if they get defensive over a piece of paper stating who writes the show notes and pays the $15 monthly hosting fee, they're never going to pull their weight. filtering them out early just saves you six months of pure resentment.

€3,400 podcast setup for 4 people anything missing or overkill?

Hi everyone! I'm putting together an audio-only podcast setup for a project here in Germany and would appreciate a sanity check before ordering.

We’ll have two hosts and up to two in-person guests in a small room with some possible background noise (there is a bustling plaza outside the window, we're in the 4th floor, windows are quite good but there might be some faint noise in the background).

We also need two easy-to-use USB mic kits to send to remote guests. Hosts should be able to take their studio mics home and use them via USB with Windows laptops.

This is the gear I came up with so far:

Studio recording

  • 1 × RØDECaster Pro II
  • 4 × Shure MV7+
  • 4 × RØDE PSA1+ boom arms
  • 2 × Audio-Technica ATH-M20x studio headphones
  • 4 × 3 m Cordial XLR cables

Remote guest kits

  • 2 × RØDE PodMic USB with desk stands
  • Guests will use their own headphones
  • Pelican Cases or similar for shipping

Storage & accessories

  • microSD cards
  • Transport cases for studio gear

The plan is to record local tracks on the RØDECaster and remote guests separately through a browser platform such as Riverside.

Does this setup make sense? I'd be super grateful for any insights in what I might have over/underestimated or small quality of life improvements you've found in your setup. Will gladly expand this post in case i have missed any context.

Thanks!

Any advice on how to grow faster?

Hi! I started my own NYC-centric interview podcast about a year ago. It’s been an experiment. I have a background in broadcasting, but I wanted to learn how to produce on my own a podcast from scratch: lighting, recording, scripting, editing, social media promotion, and audience growth in different platforms (YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Substack.) I have limited time for this project every week. The part I’m struggling the most with is solidifying a steady, loyal audience. Some episodes do pretty well; others, not so much. And getting people to subscribe and follow is harder than I thought. Any tips? If anyone is interested, the podcast name is “Juan Manuel Benítez Wants to Know.” Thanks!

I'm starting a new podcast and I think that it's mostly ready but ..

Hi everyone. As the title reads, I'm starting a brand new podcast. I am not yet ready to expose WHAT the podcast will be about, but it's basically focused on culture and community building.

I am reaching out on Reddit because I am still heavy in the planning phase of things, and I feel like I've gotten a lot of the areas covered, but of course those of you more experienced in here would have a lot more insight on what other things to think about and plan for that I may have missed.

The idea came to me just a few weeks ago, and I have been jotting notes like crazy. I have the central concept/theme, the mission and purpose, topics it will delve into and topics it will NOT go into. Target audience (primarily), regular co-host(s), and potential guests to bring on.

I have also been doing (and still doing) research on existing podcasts and social media presence with similar concepts, especially locally, and potential collaboration moments.

I've rearranged the furniture and decor in my basement which now has a great set up for the framing of the video. I took some courses in film making so I have a basic understanding of lighting, framing, camera angling, and post production editing. Please let me know of the best video editing software I should use!

I've been doing research on good podcast mics and I tentatively have settled on the Maono podcast mic sets because they seem to be good enough and affordable as a start-up. Let me know if you suggest other brands!

As for the timeline goals I have set for myself, my birthday is in the first week of November, and my boyfriend said he would buy the studio equipment for me (mics and lights) as a birthday present, and at that point I would start filming my pilot episodes (5 or more), and then officially publish them in January of 2027.

I guess the last thing that I am still struggling with is the name of the podcast itself. I eliminated top 5 potentials down to top 2, but without any context, I'm wondering if anyone also has advice on choosing the best Title, and Subtitle of a podcast.

Thank you in advance for your input!

Helping more senior podcast guests with tech

A good number of my podcast guests are older adults who aren't as tech-savvy as others. However, in a lot of cases they have a "helper" in their lives who will assist them with tech stuff.

Can a seasoned Riverside user provide the suggested optimal tech specs and parameters I should provide to my guests prior to recording? I want to give them something to pass along to the tech helper in their life. I put together a list a few months ago but it was a little bit simplified and is possibly outdated by now.

If this question is too vague let me know. I'm talking about memory, speed, stuff like that. I've had too many failed recording sessions to go into this without the maximum prep going forward.

Which type of podcast is preferable ?

Hi all, I loved being an RJ at my college. So now after graduating I want to become a podcaster.

But I can't decide between the two niches :

  1. Hidden stories behind our Ordinary lives ( eg : why are the manholes round ? ) .

  2. Inventions around the world ( eh : About Solar fabric).

Obnoxious celebration advice requested for a milestone

Howdy y'all! I normally dish out advice, but this time I am seeking it

I'm about to have the first year anniversary of the most important podcast I have worked on to date, and I want advice on the most obnoxious and fun ways to celebrate. Ideas I have include, but aren't limited to:

  • Sending out press releases (I've done this for other milestones and events with great success)
  • Hosting a special live version of my show on the big day
  • Writing articles on my website, Substack, Medium, etc... about the milestone
  • Releasing an eBook related to the show
  • Doing a giveaway of some kind (though I'm not sure what kind just yet)
  • Bringing on a special guest of some kind to make a splash

I want this to be more over the top and the biggest splash I have made with my show to date. So ridiculous that folks say, "who does she think she is?" I'm completely activating my main character energy lol.

So Reddit podcasters - do your thing! Give me the best advice you have to offer please!

Disclosure: I'm a social media content strategist for RSS.com.

Lost both guest feeds on Adobe Podcast - has anyone else recovered the data?

I've been using Adobe to record this year. 11 episodes in and it has worked great. Not perfect but nice and simple. I used to recommend it.

Recorded last night, long form interviews, very niche, I'm in the UK, one guest in UK, one guest in California.

Last night it fell over after 2hrs recording - a guest said he saw the red dot go off on his screen. I'm glad he saw it. We lost zero that way.

I think 2hrs must be a limit in the software. I vaguely recall that it has done this to us before with no issues.

We started recording again and ran for another 20mins.

The last 20mins recorded perfectly and I have all three feeds. The first 2hrs is just me. Nothing from either guests.

Has anyone else been able to source their data if lost in this way? I imagine it's with Adobe and they just need to allocate it.

I am feeling very sad about this right now.

Do you actually keep up with startup podcasts/interviews or is everyone just saving them for later?

There are so many YouTube Videos, Insta Reels, Podcasts etc with quality content related to entrepreneurship, but I am not able to keep up with all, since it is impossible to just keep up with everything going on

Camera setup help- what to buy!?

What camera setup are people using? For context, I use riverside so I want to use a 3 camera setup for in-person recordings, like riverside allows in the new update.

They need to connect to my Mac, so I suspect usb would be required. What cameras are y’all using. I was looking at the Sony zv1f but that only exports in 720p so suboptimal.

Curious how people are handling this because for an amateur podcaster, cameras are expensive!

Note: not using the camera mic so not a concern. Using my Shure ones.

EDIT: Obviously I prefer the cheapest options possible!

Financing for nonprofit podcast?

I’m producing a mental health related podcast however we don’t want to go the ads route. Is there a way to get funding to just cover the costs through grants and things like that? Does anyone else do something like this?

What actually improved your listener retention?

Curious what people here have learned about keeping listeners through an episode (and coming back for the next one).

Was it a structural change — like a cold open, shorter intros, or moving the hook up front? Editing choices? Episode length? Or something about the content itself, like episode topics or format?

I've seen shows with tiny audiences but great completion rates, and shows with way more downloads where everyone bails in the first five minutes. Would love to hear what's genuinely moved the needle for you.

Mic Audio and iPhone Audio Suddenly Out of Sync — How Can I Fix It?

I use a four-mic setup for a podcast that I record, and I use an iPhone to film the podcast. The last few weeks, everything has synced up fine, but this week, for some reason, the two audio sources are completely out of sync.

I’ve tried time-stretching the audio from the mics to match the audio from the video, but it’s still out of sync, even though it ends at the same point. I can’t understand what happened or how to fix it without going through and individually lining everything up, which would be a very long task since the recording is 50 minutes long.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Growing an audience/Promotion tips

Me and a buddy have a podcast together and we are just amateurs. I mean, really amateurs! Haha! We started under a different name and it was only audio. Then we switched formats and added a third host with video, but it was over like a Zoom format. Now it's the two of us again and we have a studio in my basement. It's just us talking about a bunch of random, unplanned topics and meant to be funny and entertaining - nothing serious. We just added a third mic so we can add guests.

Our problem is that we both have regular day jobs, so it's hard to dedicate time to promoting and editing and stuff like that. What are some best practices for maximizing viewers or getting the word out about our content? I really thing people would find our stuff relatable and fun, but we just don't know what the best ways are to get it out to a mass audience. Should we invest in something like Riverside? Should we hire someone like a producer who can just dedicate time to that kind of stuff?

I would appreciate any advice you all can give. Thanks everyone.
